The famous Eagles song sadly applies to Eze and the way he has been playing before and after lockdown. He is capable of ripping teams like Barnsley, Charlton and Boro apart but chose to play it safe, backwards, sideways and avoid injury. The opposition donāt seem to close mark him liked they used to, must realise he is no longer the threat to them he should be. Iām sure he would be benched under normal circumstances but of course we all wait with great anticipation as we know what he is capable of.
The worst part is that his value diminishes quickly with these tepid performances and that of course is bad for the clubs financial situation. I would really love to see him thrive In the right Premiership side but in the meanwhile ,starting today, a return to the real Ebbs before he goes to close out the season would make us all happy. No more āTaking it Ezeā. Iāll just get me coat.

Whilst he might display the current attitude, teams, interested in him will be taking note and he could actually F*** himself in the arse as they lose interest in yet another promising premadonna showing such "professionalism".

As I understand it, several players (Eze, BOS, Manning and Lumley) already have moves lined up but we continue to play them to try and get wins so as to keep the fans interested. Its not working is it.

Its not working is it. If thatās true it explains a lot, trouble is we only have inexperienced kids to replace them, so dropping them is not really an option. Roll on next week and an end to this dreadful season. Just hope we donāt get humiliated at West Brom again.

Just hope we donāt get humiliated at West Brom again. We could get humiliated with them playing, so what is the difference?? Other side of that is, depending on where we draw the line at 'inexperienced', is our U23s are furloughed so we don't have the option of doing the whole 'just play the kids' thing. Of our available players (based on the bench for the Luton game), it's only really Gubbins or Bettache who are youth without much first team experience. At this point, I agree that dropping players mentioned doesn't make a huge difference maybe, but other than Shodipo/Clarke/Bettache replacing BOS on a wing, or two of those playing meaning Eze can be dropped and Chair plays at ten, there isn't actually much you could change without fundamentally changing the shape. Ditto Wallace for Manning, or Barbet pushed to LB at his expense and putting Gubbins in at CB. But all sounds like more trouble than its worth imo. Hypothetically, even if we had all the kids available, there's probably an argument about chucking so many in at once. They collectively have a bad one and it can really knock them back - almost always easier to have them paired up with someone experienced e.g. Masterson came in alongside Barbet/Cameron. Mostly academic I guess - I'll settle for just getting these last games out the way with a bit of dignity and prepping for what is likely to be a pretty wild pre-season n transfer window.
