Well played Rangers - great result after Wednesday night - does playing away suit our style more?

MATCH REPORT
Derby 1 QPR 1 Ebere Eze’s penalty just before half-time earned QPR a point at Pride Park.
Eze calmly netted from the spot after Bright Osayi-Samuel was fouled by Martyn Waghorn, who had put Derby ahead.
Rangers are now without a win in their past seven matches and are still yet to keep a clean sheet this season. ADVERTISING
But they battled back well after falling behind midway through the first half and more than deserved a draw.
After Luke Amos’ careless foul on Jack Marriott near the edge of the penalty area, Waghorn found the top corner of the net with the resulting free-kick.
Rangers responded strongly and Derby keeper Ben Hamer pushed away shots from Ryan Manning and Jordan Hugill before the equaliser.
QPR: QPR: Lumley, Rangel, Leistner, Hall, Manning, Cameron, Amos (Scowen 71), Pugh (Wells 78), Eze, Osayi-Samuel, Hugill. Subs not used: Barnes, Kane, Smith, Ball, Chair.

Pleased with the result and the performance. We all hope that it is the turning of the corner. Every report I have read has said that it was a clear penalty. I would only say that those are the very decisions that we have not been getting during the poor run. As for Eze's penalties - they are very hard to watch and I suspect VAR would take 20 minutes to analyse to be certain that he does not stop at any point. But the decision has been that he does not - every time! Interesting team selection with an emphasis on experience. 12 of the 18 yesterday are out of contract next Summer - although we do have options on BOS and Manning. Be interesting to see if extensions are agreed ahead of the window. If we continue our good forward planning, it would make some sense, but so hard when the club cannot be sure of survival. Good to see BOS getting Man of the Match recognition. I have been saying that we lack that swift break option when he is left out and the opposition have to stay back when he is selected.

On the train home - earned that and pleased with it. Glad that you had another good away day. I missed the Forest game due to illness (possibly Preston as well), but watching on Sky I thought we would need to play two wide men in front of our full backs in a 4-1-4-1 formation to stop our opponents exploiting the spaces in front of our defence. Did Eze take up this position yesterday? It would appear natural to me for Masnning to play in front of Wallace with BOS, Pugh or Kane on the right. I don't think Eze & Chair could play together with this systen as we would require a "box to box" type partnering one of them - Amos, Scowen, Pugh? I would appreciate your views on the way forward bow, as well as that of your travelling companions. I did make a little bit of a tit about myself yestreday! I turned my back on Stelling as I couldn't bear to watch the penalty! Any idea when Barbet will be available? He has definitely become our best defender during his absence!
