Flashback 3 Years April 1, 2019 www.qpr.co.uk/news/club-news/steve-mcclaren-leaves-qpr/Steve McClaren leaves QPRQPR sponsored by : Senate Bespoke Construction Paul Morrissey @pjmorrissey77 STEVE McClaren has left QPR with immediate effect. McClaren came to Loftus Road as manager last summer and during his time in charge oversaw 46 fixtures, winning 16, drawing nine and losing 21. CEO Lee Hoos said: “Making a decision such as this is never easy, particularly when you are talking about someone as professional and dedicated as Steve. “We are grateful to him for all his efforts during his time with us. It is well documented that we are in a period of transition as we work hard to make the club financially stable. With that comes challenges, not least the cutting of the wage bill while aiming to remain competitive. “As we look to the future, and taking recent results into account, we feel now is the right time to re-evaluate where we are.” Director of Football Les Ferdinand added: “Steve has worked incredibly hard during his time with us but as we start to make plans for next year we feel this change is necessary now, rather than wait until the end of the season, or risk having to make such a decision early in the new campaign.” Chairman Amit Bhatia said: “On behalf of the Board, I would like to thank Steve for his hard work during his time with us, and wish him well for the future. “I would also like to thank our fans for their patience and unwavering support during what has been a very difficult run of results, at a time when the club faces well-documented challenges. “We must now work towards ending this season positively and building for the future.” John Eustace will take over first-team affairs in the interim period while the search for a new manager begins. The club will be making no further comment at this time.

He had more than enough chances to put this right, should have beaten ten man Stoke, Should of beaten Rotherham and should have beaten Bolton. A win in any one of those three would probably kept him as Manager until at least the end of season. 7 points from a third of the season would take pretty much any Manger in the Country away from his job even a newly promoted Prem team.

Sadly, this is the correct decision.
Good luck Steve.
I want a grass roots appointment that is fit for our limited resources. No glamour or unrealistic ambition thank you.

What goes around, comes around': Ian Holloway offers instant reaction Steve McClaren's QPR sacking Holloway was replaced by McClaren as Queens Park Rangers manager last summer. Ian Holloway insisted he is not bitter about his Queens Park Rangers exit after the man who 'took his job' was sacked on Monday. Holloway was a guest on Jim White's Talksport show as news of Steve McClaren's dismissal broke. However, when asked for his reaction the Bristolian failed to hold back. "Well, he took my job, didn't he? I had another year - I'm still being paid by them now," he said. "It is what it is. Whether he was told by the club what the club would have to do, whether he knew that we'd have to be cutting back like I was doing - I don't know. All I know is he was talking to the chairman while I was still in the job, telling the chairman what he thinks he should do and obviously he hasn't been able to do it, so... "I felt that way because I had another year to go and I wanted to carry on the good work I was doing. But listen, football is football. You can't ever make someone want you, can you? If he was someone who was wanted by the club they haven't stuck by him and that's the way football goes these days. Someone will be waiting to take his place and good luck to them because it's a wonderful, wonderful football club. "Am I a bit warped and twisted? Possibly. But I didn't mean it in a nasty way. It's life. Sometimes what goes around, comes around. Steve McClaren Manager "All I can say is where are the young lads I was told to bring through and that's what we were doing. I had Chris Ramsey helping me, I was going to move it forward. Really, if you've got to cut your cloth accordingly then you've got to produce some of your own. Eze Ebere he hasn't been playing, Ryan Manning was lent out on loan." Asked if he would consider a return to Loftus Road, Holloway said: "Depends who's called me. I didn't think Les (Ferdinand, the QPR director of football) wanted me to go." Les Ferdinand is seen prior to the Sky Bet Championship Play off semi final 1st leg match between Fulham and Reading at Craven Cottage on May 13, 2017 in London, England. Holloway led QPR to 18th- and 16th-placed finishes in his second spell in charge of QPR, which lasted 18 months. And it is in 17th position that McClaren leaves the R's, despite having the west London side on course for a play-off berth earlier in the campaign. Tim Sherwood, Mark Warburton, Gareth Ainsworth and Gary Rowett are among the early favourites to succeed McClaren, the former England manager. Ainsworth, who played for QPR, is the only one of those currently employed as a boss. www.hitc.com/en-gb/2019/04/01/what-goes-around-comes-around-ian-holloway-offers-instant-reacti/

This club is a complete shambles.
Don't trust any of them to get a single managerial decision right.
For the record, just get Ainsworth in and stop all this messing about.

Really hope it isn't Ainsworth, just out of fear. I don't think the way he has Wycombe playing would win him many favours with our lot but mainly...I just love him to bits and would hate to see him get chewed up and spat out again by the Loftus Road madness machine.

I thought that Brexit was a farce but the more you look at the stewardship of TF he must surely be in line for taking over from Theresa May when she resigns.
We then appoint Theresa May as our manager knowing she'll sort out the defence via an Irish defensive backstop and despite all common sense will play the same players week in week out even though she'll get defeated.
You heard it here first
"Theresa, Theresa give us a wave, Theresa give us a wave"
"You should have seen us coming All the lads and lasses with smiles upon their faces Coming down to Loftus Road to see Theresa's Rangers"

Is that the same Ainsworth whose side are facing a battle against relegation & have had a similar 2019 to Queens Park Rangers? That shouldn't rule him out as neasrly all sucessful managers have a blip on their record, but I can't see anything on his CV as to why we should appoint him other than he was an ex player.
