Friday night on Sky is not a good omen for us!
But like I said on the Ipswich thread, we should feel good going into this. Villa are a very, very strong team on paper but there are massive deep-seated issues there. It doesn't feel like a team that Dean Smith can just flip a switch and have them perform. Indeed, they didn't perform in their last away game and they have underperformed almost all of this season to date.
I desperately want us to win this. Embarassingly, I've felt sick since I've woken up because I want us put one over John Terry so badly. Call me naive but a chilly Friday night in a very compact, hostile Loftus Road with QPR on a good little run is not a place a group of talented but underperforming players will want to be.

Haha, know exactly how you feel Bow Management team of ex-Brentford manager + ex-Chelsea captain... they're so going to want to beat us. Let's hope Chelsea loanee Tammy Abraham remains unfit following his knock against Norwich, but I suspect he'll be OK for the game. Should be a cracking atmosphere

I detest THAT man as much as anyone else, but please, gaining a point tonight is far more important that sticking one to him!
Let us, hopefully, win the game first & then we can all let him know how we feel about him.

Certainly getting a bit feisty out there, amazed there's only been one yellow card.Only 30% possession but 1-0 up at half time and looking the more likely to score again before the break.

Villa look dangerous when Grealish is on the ball, he’s causing us all sorts of problems, he’s looking damned impressive tonight.
Happy with the lead but I think Villa will come back. We need a second goal here and Luongo should have delivered that just before the end of the half.

This lot are getting a bit good aren't they.
Lynch and Leistner look very good and Rangel is a real organiser. Furlong may have a battle getting his place back.
Villa probably deserved a point tonight, but that's the way it works sometimes.

Great result keep it going Rangers. Super run of form we are having, what’s that 13 from 15 points , wow. Yes Angel was a good move by the club, loads of experience, good temp replacement for Furlong, realised Kakay was not ready at this point. We didn’t think we would be 7 th in October after the first four games did we

That was a real close call. But when in form, these things happen. We will have our share of losing against the run of play, so lets enjoy the moment. A few observations: The coaching of the defence is good. They defend as a unit. McClaren sorted out our defence when here last time (we missed him when he left 'H' on his own), but he clearly builds from the back. When we defend set pieces, every player has his man to man job with Hamed free to attack the ball. I like Lumley, but he is currently a 'lucky keeper' who is still learning. The one that he judged to be going wide, struck the post and could have sneaked in - but it didn't. He is playing well and I hope he develops into another QPR goalkeeping legend. Smith said that we took it in turns to foul Grealish. McClaren replied that we are not that organised to do that, but he said we had to stop him playing. The foul by Lynch on Grealish was pretty bad though. No attempt to play the ball. But we did see another side of QPR yesterday. Villa were also guilty of fouling Eze a great deal, but a tad more gentle than some of the treatment Grealish received. Cameron went off with a hamstring injury and I think we will miss him, but Scowen did well when he came on. So pleased for Wszolek, took his goal well. Villa were wobbly at the back but only made the one serious error. We tried the same move several times without success. It was a great ball in from Cameron though. Love the idea that we can bring Wells on for Hamed. Rangel played well and made a great tackle late on to save the day. Villa will play far worse than that and win, but so pleased to beat them and a certain Assistant Manager. All kicked off at half time down the tunnel apparently. Enjoy 7th though. It feels 'nice'.

Surely McClaren will win Manager of Month 13 points from 15 and a draw with Derby. Would imagine between him and Lampard and Norwich Manager.

Surely McClaren will win Manager of Month 13 points from 15 and a draw with Derby. Would imagine between him and Lampard and Norwich Manager. Looking at the table on the BBC website, there are only 2 teams who don't have any red on the form guide to the right, us and Birmingham who are at home to Sheff Wed this afternoon. If they win, they'll also have 13 from 15 and will be DWWWW whereas we're WDWWW so it may be a toss up as to who gets it although McLaren seems to have gotten more media coverage. That said, we are all well aware of the manager of the month curse!

Got punished with a rotten cold all weekend after Friday night but what a tense game. I was absolutely desperate for us to win this and I'm so glad we did.
Think everything has been covered already really. Thought maybe Scowen could have come on a little earlier to monitor Grealish more closely but worked well when he did.
Agree with Ricky about Lumley being a lucky keeper. Takes nothing away from his performances - he's made superb saves and very difficult cross claims the last couple of games - but 50/50s keep coming out in his favour. Long may it continue, does wonders for his confidence and it's lovely seeing a young keeper clearly enjoying his football so much. His enthusiasm and reactions are positively infectious.
Happy with Smith being bitter to be honest. I don't think we systemically dealt with Grealish in the way he said we did, but we did rough him up good and proper and frankly I'm ok with that. He's a very, very good player with a relatively short fuse. Anything that frustrates him and makes him think twice about running at players is a positive in my book, long as we aren't looking to actually hurt him. They also dished it out heavily to Eze too, though a lot of that actually is down to Eze himself. I keep repeating myself on this but every game you see how intelligently he manages the game and picks his options. He loves to run at players but when we are under the kosh he's smart enough to hold the ball up and milk the foul and slow things down.
There's a lot more to it than this but as a general theme, we looked a team and Villa looked a collection of individuals. Villa have so much attacking talent and the creativity is there for all to see, but it just doesn't click. So many times they played intelligent little flicks and links that just did not connect. Little doubt Smith will iron those issues out but it'll take a while and we played them at just the right time in my opinion.
Three points and maintaining the run is the priority but I'm still thinking about John Terry, here. We created a horrible environment for Villa to play in and ground out the result and sent that racist dickhead home empty handed. Buzzing. Long may all this continue.
