Michael Doughty has left Peterborough and signed for Swindon in a 2 year deal. Shame that things have not worked out for him and that he is now in the fourth tier.

From football.london www.football.london/queens-park-rangers-fc/qpr-keeping-tabs-derby-striker-14945745QPR keeping tabs on Derby striker Chris Martin - but how likely is a move to materialise? The Hoops reportedly cast an eye over the 29-year-old in Derby's under-23 clash with Aston Villa - a game which saw Martin get 45 minutes. By Phil Spencer 12:19, 24 JUL 2018 QPR remain interested in a move for Chris Martin after it was revealed that the club watched him in action yesterday afternoon. Martin lined up for Derby under-23s in a behind-closed-doors friendly against Aston Villa - a game which they lost 2-1. The striker started the game and played 45 minutes as he continues his return to full fitness alongside George Thorne, Jacob Butterfield and Nick Blackman. It was reported in The Mirror last month that the Rams are hoping to offload the striker as they look to reduce their wage bill ahead of the new campaign. With QPR desperate to bolster their attackine line, here's what we know about the reports. Why Chris Martin? The 29-year-old has a decent strike-rate in the Championship, after enjoying spells at Norwich City, Derby, Reading and a loan spell at west London rivals Fulham. Having lost a number of experienced players this summer, Martin would certainly add to Steve McClaren's squad as he looks to improve the sides potency in front of goal. The fact that Martin endured a frustrating campaign last time out with the Rams and the Royals means he'll no doubt be looking for regular first team football, with Loftus Road likely to be an ideal place to do that. Where would he fit in at QPR?QPR are desperately lacking in quality in the striking department, and Martin's experience and goalscoring record at Championship level would be a huge draw. The Hoops enjoyed playing with a target man last season under Ian Holloway, and by all accounts Steve McClaren has specifically targeted Martin as the man to lead the line this term. Of course, with numerous options already in place in attack, you'd think that one or two forwards may have to leave to make room for the Scotland international. How likely is it to happen?Given QPR's need for both experience and goals, Martin is certainly a player who you could see at Loftus Road next season. The issue is whether the Hoops can afford to get a deal over the line. The striker has two years remaining on his deal at Derby, and it's likely that the Rams would demand some sort of fee for a player of Martin's pedigree. A move could be funded by the departure of other players, or another option is for QPR to try and convince Frank Lampard's side to let him leave on a loan deal. Martin is thought to be on fairly high wages at Pride Park, and if a deal is to be struck it's likely that the striker could have to take a pay-cut to get a move over the line.

From WLS www.westlondonsport.com/qpr/football-sainsbury-west-ham-jordan-hugill-derby-county-chris-martin-250718QPR remain hopeful of Sainsbury dealBy David McIntyre 25/07/2018 QPR are hopeful of agreeing a deal to sign Australia centre-back Trent Sainsbury. Rangers are in negotiations with Chinese club Jiangsu Suning, where Sainsbury is under contract until January. Sainsbury, 26, is keen to stay in Europe, having ended last season on loan at Swiss club Grasshoppers. He was previously on loan at Inter Milan. A friend and international team-mate of QPR midfielder Massimo Luongo, Sainsbury featured in the recent World Cup. Rangers manager Steve McClaren has been keen to bring in two central defenders this summer in light of the departures of out-of-contract duo Nedum Onuoha and Jack Robinson. German Toni Leistner was recently brought in from Union Berlin, who will visit Loftus Road for a pre-season friendly this Saturday. Meanwhile, QPR remain keen on strikers Chris Martin and Jordan Hugill. However, Derby County and Martin, 29, would prefer a permanent deal rather than another loan move away from Pride Park. Martin, who played under ex-Derby boss McClaren for the Rams, spent last season on loan at Reading and the previous campaign with Fulham. And Rangers’ only realistic chance of signing Hugill, 26, on loan is if he wants to stay in London, having relocated when he moved to West Ham from Preston in January. Leeds are among several other clubs chasing Hugill, who has not started a league game for the Hammers. QPR pursued Hugill when he was at Preston and at one stage believed they were close to signing him for around £1.3m. He eventually moved for more than £8m.

Why are we bothering with this Sainsbury if he wants to stay in Europe as the rumour has it? FFS get someone else and get it sorted with others too. Always the same old dithering with us.

I guess we have put a lot of work into it and maybe China are pushing for a bigger fee. Lots of things can go wrong with transfers.
I remember under NW we tried all summer to get John Walters and he still joined Stoke.
Of course adding to that, we don’t have much cash, so that makes things harder. I still think Sainsbury will join us by the weekend.

I expect most deals will get done over this weekend and early next week, especially as the window shuts before next weekend.
Transfers, most of the time, take time and lots of tricky negotiation. It’s not as simple as club A saying we want player X, offering him a deal and him signing it minutes after reading the terms. If only it was that simple.
I would be surprised if Sainsbury and Martin weren’t QPR players by the end of next week. Not ITK, just think those two are the ones McLaren really wants and would be considered the positions of most need.

So the asking price is £850k then.... I think this one will happen though. QPR reopen talks to sign Trent Sainsbury By AAP 3 hours ago Trent Sainsbury's move to Queens Park Rangers could be back on after the English Championship side began negotiations with Jiangsu Suning over a fee for the Socceroos defender. The 26-year-old and his representatives were in London last week for talks with Rangers' director of football Les Ferdinand and manager Steve McClaren about a switch from China where he's been told he's surplus to requirements. However, any potential deal looked dead after Jiangsu demanded $AU1.5 million, which is what they paid Dutch side PEC Zwolle for his services in 2016, despite Sainsbury having just five months remaining on his current deal. But with the Championship season kicking off on August 4 and the English transfer window closing on August 9 - three weeks earlier than in previous years - QPR have stepped up their quest to sign Sainsbury. Discussions were taking place with powerbrokers from the Nanjing-based club on Wednesday with the west Londoners hopeful a deal can be thrashed out before the weekend. QPR lost first-choice centre-halves Jack Robinson and Nedum Onuoha at the end of last season and are desperate to bolster their depth at the position. Tellingly, the club released their squad numbers for the 2018/19 campaign on Wednesday and the No.5 shirt was left vacant, giving the biggest hint yet that the arrival of a defender is imminent. Despite his strong showings with the Socceroos at the World Cup, Sainsbury found out he was relegated to the Jiangsu's reserve squad last month while on holiday in Greece. Hughes & Southampton........... Southampton have now loaned out £42m worth of talent this window. Clasie now back to Feyenoord (£8m) Carillo (Record signing £19m) and Boufal (£15m) They are currently trying ship out Fraser Forster having spent £10m on Angus Gunn. Always liked Southampton as a club, but after years of selling key talent (usually to Liverpool!) Hughes and his cronies are busy wasting the war chest on expensive acquisitions and then loaning out expensive purchases from the previous regime. Will it all end in tears? Sometimes clubs deserve what they get don't they?
Meanwhile Green has completed his move to Chelsea.

More on Trent Sainsbury 'With a loan deal not possible he faces the prospect of little to no game time before the start of the Asian Cup on January 5 unless he gets a move. After a decent start to his career in China, Sainsbury has seen six different managers pass through the doors and the instability in the coaching room has seen him shunted further down the pecking order with every new appointment. Sainsbury is very close to QPR midfielder Massimo Luongo and should negotiations run smoothly, he could be in the squad alongside his Socceroos roommate for Saturday’s trial match against German side Union Berlin on Saturday'. www.foxsports.com.au/football/socceroos/qpr-back-in-for-socceroos-star-trent-sainsbury/news-story/35282b2b8f31f727fcbeb21b670523b3

England is in Europe. Absolutely dead at this, taking a geographical positive and somehow turning it into a negative haha. I love the assumption that this is because we're dithering - the club have fairly openly pointed out they want to bring in a few bodies, what possible incentive do they have not to do that? If we're a weaker squad, it's McClaren and his staff who carry the can, not us.
