OK, here's a completely random transfer suggestion, based on some degree of personal knowledge. One of my daughters' best friends is the partner of Glen Rea, a 25 year old defensive midfielder at Luton who plays a similar role as the departed Grant Hall. He's one of their best performing players, fans want his to be offered a new contract and his 'value' on Transfermarkt is on the up. As I understand it, Luton have offered him a new contract, but he's not yet accepted it (though has accepted a contract extension to the end of the season, whereas 5 other players have been released). There is interest from Cardiff, but I think he and his partner would like to stay in the Hitchin area for a number of reasons. He'd be available on a free. ------ [EDIT] In fact, I thought it such a good idea, that I've just emailed two people at the club with the suggestion! [2nd EDIT] Just had a very nice email from club saying they'll pass the info on to MW and Sir Les

SportFootball Bid accepted for Wigan Athletic striker Kieffer Moore Wigan Athletic are understood to have accepted a bid from Championship rivals Queens Park Rangers for Wales international striker Kieffer Moore. By Paul Kendrick Monday, 20th July 2020, 2:13 pm The 27-year-old, who joined Latics last summer from Barnsley for £2.5million, took his tally for the season to nine with a brace against Hull City last week. And it's thought the bid from QPR is in the region of that amount, according to sources in the north west. Moore was the subject of an unsuccessful bid of around £2million in January from Cardiff, and it wouldn't be a surprise to see the Bluebirds come back in with renewed interest. Sign up to our daily newsletter Enter your email Preston North End, too, have been strongly linked with Moore, although their manager Alex Neil played down suggestions of an imminent bid over the weekend. "It's speculation, we get linked to players all the time," Neil said. "I think that's just naturally because we're getting closer to the transfer window. "This isn't a conversation that we've had for the last couple of months, but the window opens in 11 days. "Wigan are in administration, so his agent will be doing what his agent should be doing." www.wigantoday.net/sport/football/bid-accepted-wigan-athletic-striker-kieffer-moore-2918688

There is a very good reason why he would be available! Weird how different he's turned out! On loan with us, he looked overweight, capable of something special but played well within himself. When we saw him at Boro, he looked a lot more trim and got himself about but just looked...completely unremarkable.

Morrison, what a player he could have been. If managers like Chris Wilder and Warnock can't sort him out, well, I can't help thinking he's beyond help. Still, at 27 he's young enough to still give it a go. But with more 'last chances' than Warnock has had 'last clubs' I don't see it happening. I hope for his sake he knuckles down and starts playing to his potential, and not look back on a career of regret and wasted opportunity. On a slightly QPR-related subject, I noticed Max Ehmer has just signed for Bristol Rovers - best of luck to him the72.co.uk/181597/bristol-rovers-secure-signing-of-ex-qpr-and-gillingham-man/

West Ham and Crystal Palace have so far shown solid interest in Eze, while several other clubs have been linked with him, including Tottenham. The Sun declare that promoted Leeds are “ready to outbid” Spurs, West Ham and Palace in an attempt to sign Eze this summer. The newspaper say Leeds showed an interest in him in January and told QPR they would make an offer for the forward if the Yorkshire club went up to the top flight. With promotion now sealed, Leeds are tipped to make their move when the transfer window reopens. The Sun say Leeds manager Marcelo Bielsa has told owner Andrea Radrizzani that Eze is the kind of player they should be looking to sign.

Can we actually sign Moore yet? I thought the transfer window did not open until Monday? Only on prer-contract until Monday. But Wigan need to raise £6m by the 31st July or they could fold. So it will be the highest bidder with proof of funds and probably no instalments.

No such qualms with me... cold, hard cash all the way. The usual media gossip has Leeds, Spurs, Palace and West Ham all after the lad. Last night's performance may have alerted a couple of others to his skills. Let's hope for a frenzied bidding war! I'd be disappointed with £15m, kind of OK with £20m and starting to feel happy about it at £25m+....

I'd be disappointed with £15m, kind of OK with £20m and starting to feel happy about it at £25m+.... I think he's the acid test for us this window. You can make mitigation on price for BOS and Manning and part of that can be down to ourselves (or to steal a point off the QPR podcast, more specifically McClaren, who didn't fancy BOS and sent Manning to Rotherham - what could they be worth now if they'd had a longer run in our team earlier, rather than now where they have a year left on their deal..?). But Eze effectively has 2 years left, is reputedly wanted by multiple clubs and is clearly one of the best talents in the division. Can expect price to take a hit from us needing some cash and Covid, but 15m has to be the bare minimum. I think we'd do well to get passed 20m to be honest, but agree that's really got to be the ballpark for what we are aiming for innit.

Great news if t pans out. If true, could be part of a p/x for Eze. Would Hugill be a better bet than Moore? What would Hugill's current market value be - £2-3m?

Hard to see how the Hugill deal could work. I would certainly prefer it to be part of a Manning deal than a Eze deal. The report says that he is signing permanently for QPR. He was on £35k per week and we were only picking up £15k of that. I could see a deal whereby, as a discount on Eze or instead of Manning - but only if it is another season long long. Puzzling!
