QPR- Make it happen Monday’s edition of De Telegraaf reports PSV are trying hard to reach an agreement with Trent Sainsbury, but aren’t quite there yet and face competition from QPR. Sainsbury did reasonably well for Australia at the World Cup and that led to many rumours about his future. Like most others who were expected to find a big transfer off the back of the tournament, it hasn’t happened for Sainsbury yet and he’s still trying to find a new club. The Dutch newspaper say Sainsbury’s contract with Chinese club Jiangsu Suning has been dissolved and he’s free to choose a new destination, leaving PSV and QPR to battle over wages. As was made clear during the Russia tournament, Jiangsu Suning wages are very high and Sainsbury expects the same elsewhere. PSV coach Mark van Bommel is a friend of the 26 year old, report De Telegraaf, and now the Dutch club are in a rush to try and beat Championship club QPR to an agreement.

PLAN B .
Maybe we won’t get Sainsbury, but this guy was part of Huddersfield’s promotion team...
QPR target Huddersfield hero Hefele
Pete O'Rourke @sportspeteo36 minutes ago HITC Sport understands Queens Park Rangers are lining up a move for Huddersfield Town defender Michael Hefele.
Queens Park Rangers have made enquiries about signing Huddersfield Town defender Michael Hefele, HITC Sport understands from sources close to the club.
QPR boss Steve McClaren is looking to bolster his defensive options before the close of the transfer window having lost Nedum Onouha and Jack Robinson this summer when their contracts expired.
McClaren has so far only been able to bring in German defender Toni Leistner on a free transfer from Union Berlin and he is desperate to bring in more new faces before Thursday's transfer deadline.
German centre-back Hefele has emerged on QPR's radar and the Loftus Road outfit have made enquiries to Huddersfield about his availability.
Hefele found himself down the pecking order at Huddersfield last season, making just six appearances all campaign and the permanent signing of last season's loan star Terence Kongolo has further increased competition for places in David Wagner's side.
The 27-year-old was a key member of the Huddersfield side that won promotion to the Premier League in the 2016/17 season and McClaren feels his Championship experience would be a valuable addition to to his squad at Loftus Road

A talented teenager with lower league appearances under his belt to develop and an experienced CB with Championship experience who's likely to be surplus to requirements close to the end of window do sound very much like players fitting our current mould and finances... Fingers crossed!
Hefele alongside Toni "The Berlin Wall" Leistner (sorry, sorry...) would be decent on paper.

The Omar deal is complete which I expected but for only one year seems short - if he does well he can walk away to a better paying club at the end of the season.
Twin German CB's would be good - then we need twin Brazilian goal scorers to balance the picture!

We will probably have to settle for Martin or Hugill, we can’t compete with loan deals for Gayle etc. I am ok with that. It will mean Sylla or Washington getting less starting time. Both are starting to grind on me a little now.
Not saying they are not committed or lack of effort, just they haven’t got that killer touch.....
Still I guess we have had worse far players with poor spells at QPR , Hulse, Pellicori, Di Carmine, Nardiello, Moore to name a few...
I think Washington was more prolific at Peterboro but could be wrong.

From the Offie www.qpr.co.uk/news/under-23s-news/defender-ali-omar-signs/Defender Ali Omar signsQPR have signed defender Ali Omar. The 18-year-old centre-back will join up with Paul Hall’s Under-23 set-up after agreeing a one-year deal with the club. Omar, a free agent, has trained with the R’s during pre-season and featured in the first-team’s friendly wins over Staines Town and Swindon Town. Omar is yet to make his professional debut but attracted interest from a number of clubs following impressive displays for Stevenage Under-18s

Town, QPR and Peterborough United are all reported to have agreed a fee with Accrington Stanley for striker Kayden Jackson. The 24-year-old now has to weigh-up which of the three he wants to join ahead of Thursday’s 5pm deadline. The League One side had been targeting a fee of £2.5 million for Jackson but will almost certainly have had to settle for somewhat less than that. Jackson, who scored 16 goals in 48 starts and one sub appearance last season as Accrington topped League Two, previously played for Paul Hurst, albeit briefly, at Grimsby during a loan spell in the first half of the 2016/17 season before the Town boss moved on to Shrewsbury in the October. Bradford-born Jackson started his career with Swindon during which time he had spells on loan at Swindon Supermarine and Oxford City, before stints with Tamworth, Wrexham and Barnsley before his loan with Grimsby and his permanent switch to his current club last summer. Stanley chairman Andy Holt has confirmed that the Tykes would receive a percentage of the fee they would receive for Jackson. The 5ft 11in tall frontman is contracted until the summer of 2019 but with Stanley having an option for a further season and can play in wide roles in addition to operating down the centre. Meanwhile, former Town keeper Jacob Marsden has joined Hamilton Academical. The 21-year-old, who came through the academy before spending one year as a pro but without making a senior appearance, was released by the Blues in the summer of 2017. www.twtd.co.uk/ipswich-town-news/34141/

Sounds like way over the top in money
Offhand the only former Accrington player I can think of at QPR was Mike Ferguson almost 50 years ago (and that of course was indirectly) after Accrington were out of the league and Ferguson had hone elswhere

Shame about Sainsbury, but great news about Eze's new contract (arguably more important than Sainsbury news)!

Shame about Sainsbury, but great news about Eze's new contract (arguably more important than Sainsbury news)! Yeah, disappointing to lose out on Sainsbury but really buzzing about the Eze contract. The longer interview on the main site is quite revealing and when he talks, it feels like you can see a very confident, ambitious young guy who's (just about!) keeping his feet on the ground. He name checks Impey, Ferdinand and Ollie in terms of his development and when he speaks it's like he can hear their voices in the back of his mind - like how he talks about playing every week being a key reason for him signing but quickly makes sure to say he knows he has to keep his head down and stay humble. Optimistically, I want him to stay, develop and be incredible for us for a long time. Cynically, this means that if he's fantastic over the next season or two, we're assured a fee if someone bigger comes in.

Kayden Jackson - seems he has chosen Ipswich. www.twtd.co.uk/forum/437764/@stuart-watson-twitter/#9Back to the drawing board. Given that Chris Martin has injury problems, I hope that we can find other young talent. Most positive take from all this though is that we had money to spend on a striker.

Yes, full marks for securing Eze and Furlong on new contracts. Smyth may have a year's option, but he also needs to be secured. Two young central defenders signed (Wells & Omar) and you can see that there is a genuine plan. Just need to get through this season............where have I heard that before?

I think there are a number of players in our squad that we would be prepared to sell or exchange. Washington, Sylla, Wszolek, Cousins and Goss to name but 5. But it would seem that there is no interest or the money generated is way below our valuations. That speaks volumes I guess

Hefele and Martin would be good busines, but I think Derby would rather sell Martin than loan him.
Another CB is a far bigger priority than another striker, though. You can win games in the Championship with a solid CB pairing and average strikers.
Much harder to do it with no CBs but good strikers.

If we can land the Huddersfield Centre back and loan right back, I have no concerns about defence.
The Striker Issue is another matter though.... very weak Smith apart.

I like Wszolek and part of me thinks he could end up quite effective on the right of a three but it isn't his natural position and he's down the pecking order. I'm not basing that on much other than that he can distribute well and has actually got a finish on him. Fact is though, that would feel like a waste because prior to his apparent dip in confidence, he's the most traditional winger we've got. He's old school - he gets to the byline, challenges his full back, bothers to look up and picks his cross. Making him cut inside isn't using his potential.
I wouldn't advocate changing our system on this basis but it does nag at me that he's a genuinely very good crosser of the ball and we have two main strikers who are best served from good distribution from the wings. Smith puts his head on the ball from well-placed crosses, Sylla scores almost all his goals from poacher situations from balls fired into the box. Understandably, we prioritise our midfield strengths and Wszolek falls foul of this, but it does still feel a bit of a shame.

Have to agree with that - I have always rated Pawel but I think he has been played out of position for too long and not played often enough either. He always seems to give 100% but it looks like he is well down the pecking order now and may have lost his commitment as a result. Would not be surprised to see him go or be loaned out to trim expense. If we sell him we should at least get a fee or maybe he will head back to Poland and we be lucky to pick up much at all.
Wheeler is a strange one. Never really got a run and then got injured but obviously we think we have better younger players coming through. Probably best for all concerned to let him move on to a lower division where he did well and stood out before. He was probably worth the gamble but I hope we recouped whatever we paid for him.

Seems Wheeler is a season long loan. I think Les is trying but I guess we are not very attractive just at the moment. Ipswich chase the same players as QPR, but they are the preferred option. Looking increasingly like it will be loans not purchases now

WLS saying Wheeler is off to to Portsmouth on a season-long loan...
Probably a good thing, frees up a salary for a more needed position.

www.twtd.co.uk/ipswich-town-news/34142Accrington Stanley Chairman denying everything - no fee agreed with anyone etc. etc. It is the silly season folks! I wonder if sometimes we are just thrown in there to get the price up as we are allegedly interested in everyone.

I mean, the issue is that he's the kind of player that would really require some deep scouting unless his name was actively being put about. On paper, he's a wide midfielder with some very limited Serie A and B experience who moved to a lower Championship side, started well and then fell out of favour with both us and the national team. In reality, I think while he legitimately did have a dip in form, he's largely a victim of circumstance. He's a decent quality winger at a club who has not, for some time, played with wingers. He's been played for longer periods on the right of a three and as a RWB - enforced changes rather than any adaptation to his strengths. If you're a scout, unless you've got an in-depth knowledge of QPR's tactical transitions over the last couple of years, how would you have any clue that he was much good? Fulham away last year stands out but beyond that, it's been a while since we've got the best out of him and to the casual observer he just looks a casualty of form and preference under multiple managers. In a weird alternative universe somewhere, Wszolek is doing well as an out-and-out winger in a 4-4-2 system with Osayi-Samuel on the other wing, probably being coached by Kenny Jackett haha. As I've said, I wouldn't advocate a change of system. Brute fact is that the likes of Freeman, Luongo, Eze and Scowan are our best midfielders and getting them on the pitch, happy and firing is a priority. But yeah, it's still a shame to me. As an aside, it's also been nice seeing a small but significant up-turn in visible Polish support at Loftus Road following his participation. There's been a regular group of youngsters down with a Polish flag with his name written on it which is really nice to see.
