The first thing you all need to come to terms with is that QPR don't really care about the youth set up if their recent actions are anything to go by.
The last product of the youth team to become a footballer of any consequence was Kevin Gallen, and he came through many moons ago.
The club sacked a youth team coach of the highest calibre, Steve Brown , who also had great success with the squad winning titles at U-18 level. Never replaced !!!
Once young players have finished at U-18's there is nowhere for them to play and progress at this club. No dedicated fixtures, just an very occasional run out in the reserves - many times being played out of position to make up the numbers. The club are taking a liberty with these lads.
Add to that the reserve coach Gareth Ainsworth has no qualifications or experience what ever, and wouldn't recognise a good player if he was on the same field as Rooney, Kaka, Ronaldo and Messi. So what chance have the young lads got here. Not much !!!
After the initial burst of activity, when the new brooms arrived, the policy now appears to be anything or anybody as long as it's free or cheap. I wonder if Bircham fits any of those categories.
A vibrant youth policy is vital to the well being of any club - it doesn't seem to do Manchester United a lot of harm.
