Flashback 5 Years - QPR Official Site CHRIS RAMSEY APPOINTED TECHNICAL DIRECTOR PUBLISHED 14:00 5th January 2016 Ramsey to head up new role within QPR Academy Chris Ramsey appointed Technical Director at QPR Ramsey will be responsible for variety of roles within coaching and player-development CHRIS Ramsey has been appointed Technical Director at QPR. Ramsey will be responsible for a variety of roles relating to coaching and player development. The 53 year-old will oversee all aspects of coaching and coach education within the Academy, and be responsible for developing and implementing player development strategies. He will also oversee the integration between the Academy, Development Squad and First Team, as well as focusing on the monitoring and reporting of players on loan to other clubs. Ramsey will also develop and implement the scouting strategy to include the necessary processes and procedures to acquire players, and develop and implement club partnership programmes at both domestic and international level to facilitate greater market accessibility, exchange of best practice, and development / exit opportunities for players. Director of Football, Les Ferdinand, explained why Ramsey – who was relinquished of his First Team duties in early November – is the ideal candidate for the role, commenting: “Whilst we were disappointed things didn’t work out with Chris at First Team level earlier in the season, we were determined to retain his services at QPR. “As such, we actually put a clause in his contract which allowed us to retain Chris’s services in a player-development role should things not work out for him as Head Coach. “Chris knows Academy football inside-out and having put the building blocks in place for a lot of the good restructuring work that’s been done here over the past 11 months, he can come in and make an instant impact in an environment he has helped build.” www.qpr.co.uk/news/article/chris-ramsey-appointed-technical-director-2885015.aspx

I have no way of knowing for sure - and the issue of Steve Gallen supposed departure is problematic. But IF Ramsey really is good at this (as supposedly he was at Tottenham), it sounds like a good move. If he was prepared to overcome the humiliation ...
ALso suggests a certain seriousness about our QPR Youth Development which is great to hear

Good on the club, glad he's been dealt with decently.
Youth development has always been a big part of Ramsey's skillset, so confident he'll do well.

Will he help us win a game or two, technically speaking. Given that his job is concerned with the Academy, I imagine he'll have little or nothing to do with the first team set up.

Horribly pathetic and petulant reaction to this from the wise QPR know it all's on Twitter, including a few involving race that I won't even mention in detail.

Agree that some of the reaction is over reaction. I actually think that Ramsey is a decent guy who in the right role can do a very good job for the club, that role was not Manager of the first team.
He has had to swallow his pride but I think the fact that he has been prepared to do so is an indication of his humility. I am sure he will be well payed so I don't feel the need to feel sorry for him but overall I cannot see why people are imploding over his re-appointment.

Probably because he failed, then he failed again but he still gets a Technical Director job. Not bad, not sure if me and you failed at our Jobs miserably over the course of a year our companies would fit us in someone else? Then again, we dont know Les that well However i'm so fed up with the season, I cant say it really bothers me.

I didn't expect much to begin with Harr. Picked for 13th I just look for small victories, like scoring a goal or a nice pass or save.

We might be much lower than that though, another 6 without a win and we could be bottom five H. I like your mindset though, like scoring a goal, nice pass, nice save Unlike Saturday then ? Much rather be watching players of lesser value, lesser talent but put in a shift every single game. Players like Holloway , Bardsley , Impey etc etc .

The truth is likely that to save the club a sizable compensation claim, they kept him employed in a different "role" so what they would of paid him for doing nothing they are now paying him for doing something. But after his dismissal, does he really have in his mind the best interests of the club?!

I can't see Ramsey doing a half arsed job in his new role because he was sacked as Manager, it's not the blokes style. He isn't Armand Traore!!

Ramsey, who left Tottenham Hotspur in June as part of a backroom reshuffle following Mauricio Pochettino's arrival at White Hart Lane, has forged a fine coaching career at both club and international level. He arrives in the wake of Richard Allen's pending move to the Football Association, coupled with the recent departure of Nick Daws to Sc**thorpe United. Working alongside Ferdinand at the Concorde Club in the role of Head of Player Development & Academy Manager, Ramsey officially takes up his new role on November 1st. Ferdinand told http://www.qpr.co.uk: "I have worked with Chris for a number of years and his availability comes at a good time for the club. "The shareholders have a long-term commitment in developing the Academy and Chris arrives with a proven track record and will only help what we are all trying to achieve. "I want Chris to help me with player development and also manage the academy which is such an important part of every club's future plans. "He's one of the best coaches I've ever worked with and has an excellent eye for a player. "I know the qualities he will bring to the role and he will provide me with the support I need in the short term, to help fill the void left by Richard and Nick’s decision to move on to new opportunities Read more at www.qpr.co.uk/news/article/301014-qpr-les-ferdinand-chris-ramsey-academy-2052035.aspx#2BkF4pm1iEzVWACX.99www.qpr.co.uk/news/article/301014-qpr-les-ferdinand-chris-ramsey-academy-2052035.aspx
