Flashback June 2015 Burton Official Site after signing new 2 year contract NASSER: "TO WORK AGAIN WITH HASSELBAINK IS IMPORTANT FOR ME" PUBLISHED 10:54 26th June 2015 by Ash Willis NASSER El Khayati has signed a deal that will keep him at the Pirelli Stadium for the next two years. To work again with Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink is important for me" Nasser El Khayati The striker was signed by Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink from Dutch side Kozzaken Boys in January. El Khayati said “I have signed a new two year deal. “I am very happy to be here another two years. “To work again with Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink is important for me. He was one of the reasons to stay here.” Nasser was one of several Dutch players Hasselbaink acquired during his first transfer window and he took League 2 by storm. He had an increasing impact as the season progressed and made 18 appearances as Albion secured the League Two title. “Everybody knows that I came in in the middle of the season and I needed only one or two weeks to get settled on and off the pitch and it was all because of the gaffer and the coaches who help me. “He speaks with me off the pitch as well which is really important for me.” For the first time in the 65-year history, Burton Albion will play in the third tier of English football after picking up the League 2 title last season. El Khayati is determined to kick on and do what he did last season, but even better. El Khayati also had an eye for a crucial goal, including nabbing the 89th minute winner as ten-man Albion saw off promotion rivals Southend at the Pirelli Stadium in March. “For me the most important thing is to perform again even when it is a level higher. “I have the ambition to play higher. The next step is League 1 and I have to do it again, even better.” www.burtonalbionfc.co.uk/news/article/nasser-to-work-again-with-hasselbaink-is-important-for-me-2508542.aspx#Pft1vKhVkpMAzpif.99

From WLS "A round-up of the latest transfer speculation involving QPR… QPR do not want to sell Matt Phillips to West Bromwich Albion but could be forced to because he has refused to discuss a new contract, the Daily Star Sunday claim. West London Sport revealed during the summer that Rangers had rejected a bid from Albion for the winger and more recently revealed that the Baggies were still interested in a potential deal. Rangers are keen to reach an agreement to sell Phillips and offload a number of other players in order to balance the books. Bournemouth and Watford have also shown interest in Phillips Bournemouth and Watford have also shown interest in Phillips However, the Star claim QPR do not want to do business but could be forced to, with West Brom expecting to sign Phillips for £8m. Meanwhile, a transfer-gossip website has claimed that QPR have made a move for Oxford United midfielder Kemar Roofe." If the WLS article is true we should accept whatever WBA offer now before we hit another Austin situation running down his contract. This article smells of an agent leaking 'information' trying to force a move for his player so my natural instinct would be to fight it. Problem these days is that the players hold all the cards and can manipulate clubs as much as they want. www.westlondonsport.com/features-comment/football-wls-gossip-qpr-do-not-want-to-do-business-with-west-brom-but-could-be-forced-to-report-claims

From getwestlondon www.getwestlondon.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/what-expect-queens-park-rangers-10813786?What to expect from Queens Park Rangers in the final hours of the January transfer window15:00, 31 JAN 2016 BY PAUL WARBURTON Rangers have just over 24 hours to complete any permanent deals, or they will have to wait until the emergency loan window opens The January transfer window closes at 11pm on February 1 and QPR are expected to be active on deadline day. Charlie Austin was sold to Southampton for £4 million but Rs have add-ons that could take the deal for their top striker to £8m - double what they paid for him. Striker Conor Washington was a £2.5m signing from Peterborough as Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink returns to his League One beginnings. Sandro has moved on loan to West Brom and therefore the Hoops only paying a part of the Brazilian midfielder’s £40k-a-week wages Rob Green will run down his £40k-a-week deal so another contract fails to materialise should he play 30 times for Hoops. Matt Ingram joined from Wycombe Wanderers to provide competition for Alex Smithies. Steven Caulker has joined Liverpool on loan but without stepping foot again in Loftus Road after his spell with Southampton was cut short Ben Gladwin went on loan to Bristol City - the midfielder’s second of the season so far, while Michael Doughty has gone loan to Swindon, where Gladwin played earlier in the campaign They now have just over 24 hours to complete any permanent deals, or they will have to wait until the emergency loan window opens. Below is a handy guide of what we can expect to happen ahead of the 11pm deadline. INSRs have had a £350,000 bid for Burton Albion forward Nasser El Khayati accepted by the League One leaders. The Dutchman, 26, played under Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink at Burton and has scored 11 goals in 44 appearances since joining the Brewers a year ago. A statement on the Burton official website read: “Burton Albion striker Nasser El Khayati is in talks with Championship QPR after the two clubs agreed a fee for the 26-year-old. “If the player agrees personal terms he will be reunited with former Brewers boss Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink who brought him to the Pirelli Stadium in January 2015. “El Khayati did not feature in today's (Saturday's) Albion game at Rochdale as the transfer negotiations progressed.” Rangers could still yet move in the transfer market to bolster their squad if there were further departures. OUTSMatt Phillips has been linked with West Bromwich Albion, but a second shift to The Hawthorns appears a long shot. Rob Green has also been tipped to make a departure but it is doubtful due to his current situation at the club. The Rs shot-stopper has been told he will be used only in emergency, and even then can play in just four more games. That's because a fifth would trigger a new contract for 30 appearances. And because the 36-year-old is one of the club's last high earners, Rs have called time on his future at Loftus Road. Armando Traore, Samba Diakité, and possibly Yun suk-young are all open to offers from other clubs, but there is a slim chance of that too. Joe Lumley could make a loan move to Wycombe, who lost goalkeeper Alex Lynch to injury at Plymouth on Saturday and 46-year-old coach Barry Richardson took his place.

At this stage we should accept we will not be promoted and that we do not want to be as we are not ready. Also barring a disaster we will not be relegated. This is the time when we should be active to assemble the squad that we think will let us push for promotion next season. If we have those players on board at the end of this window we have 18 games to get them to blend into a team, understand and play the way the coach wants and be ready to hit the ground running on day one next season. It will give us the time to see If a couple do not come up to expectations in the rest of this season and then we can make minor changes in the summer. The alternative is to hold back and go through more recruitment in the summer or more likely after the next season has started and take until November for the team to settle. The only thing holding us back is if we have to offload before we can bring in the players of the future. I think we are half way between those two alternatives so unless ther is some movement tomorrow (not panic buys) we will have missed an opportunity. However I Would not blame the club for that - they are taking the right steps but we still have a few drains on resources that we cannot move on unless they want to move. If that turns out to be a stumbling block we can expect a strong top half push next year but another season before we can think about promotion. That is fine and what I call consolidation. The problem is that we have so many fans who find that unacceptable. Plus we really do not know if the owners have that level of patience. We have signs in recent games of things coming together - I hope this time the fans management and owners are realistic about how long rebuilding takes

a poll on the BBC Sport website asks:
"Who has been the best signing of the transfer window so far?"
Voters have put Jonjo Shelvey 2nd at 12%, but Charlie Austin a clear winner at 45%.
This has all been discussed before I know but one wonders what would have happened if we had accepted three times the amount in the summer and Charlie hadn't played for us at all this season. I know you can simply remove his goals and recalculate the results but that really would be too simple. Would we have had a better 'team', would Ramsey have been sacked, would Polter have started scoring earlier?
Still, we are where we are!

Assuming we could have gotten around 12 Million for Austin in the summer: Yes we should (even if "worth" more). Because we were 100% gambling on instant promotion, even as we werent really building for Instant promotion - or with an "Instant Promotion" Manager.
Now whether we would have bought wisely, who can tell (like selling Les Ferdinand 20 years)...If spent wisely...

Without question we should have taken 12 million, it was obvious we wouldnt get promotion in May, once TF appointed the youth coach.
Only at QPR, could you buy a player, let him get 20 plus goals in a Championship team followed by another 16-17 goals in a terrible relegated team, get to the England squad fringes and still make no money on him.
Just about sums us up. As Rodney says, the worse bit of business in the window but we had to take it, once someone decided to make that gamble. And after appointing Ramsey as Manager, it was an enormous gamble.

Embed from Getty Images According to The Times, Queens Park Rangers are targeting a move for Huddersfield loanee Emyr Huws before tomorrow's transfer deadline. QPR have snapped up goalkeeper Matt Ingram and striker Conor Washington from Wycombe Wanderers and Peterborough United respectively this month, but manager Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink may be keen on more Football League stars before the deadline. BBC Sport suggested on Saturday that QPR have agreed a fee to sign Hasselbaink's former Burton Albion star Nasser El Khayati, with that deal expected to go through on Monday. However, another deal being pursed by the R's is for Emyr Huws, as The Times report that QPR hope to sign him as Sandro's replacement. Having allowed Sandro to join West Brom on loan until the end of the season, it's stated that QPR want to sign another central midfielder, and Huws is their top target. The Welsh international, 22, is currently on a season-long loan deal at Huddersfield Town, having left Wigan Athletic for the Terriers over the summer. A talented, left-footed central midfielder, Huws came up through the ranks with Manchester City after leaving Swansea City in 2009, and he has impressed this term with five goals and three assists for Huddersfield.

From flicwiltshire www.flicwiltshire.com/town-linked-with-move-for-qpr-stopper/?Town linked with move for QPR stopper21:12 / 31-01-2016 | STFC News | Andrew Steele-Davis Sports Editor Town have been linked with a move for QPR prospect Joe Lumley Swindon Town are considering making a move for QPR keeper Joe Lumley before Monday’s Transfer Deadline Day, according to reports this evening. The Mirror have suggested that the Robins are just one of three clubs keeping tabs on the 20-year-old with League One rivals Oldham Athletic and Colchester United also harbouring an interest. Lumley signed for the R’s in the summer of 2013 after being released by Tottenham Hotspur, and made his first-team debut for the Championship side earlier this month in the FA Cup defeat to Nottingham Forest. The youngster also has one Championship game to his name and has now been made available for loan with QPR keen for their asset to continue his development elsewhere. Town – who share a good relationship with the Loftus Road outfit – are thought to be in a strong position to land Lumley on a loan deal despite already having two keepers on the books. However, it is understood that second-string goalie Tyrell Belford has been circulated for a loan deal and could be on the move before tomorrow’s 11pm deadline, paving the way for Lumley to seal a move to SN1. The former Spurs apprentice – who has had loan spells at the likes of Accrington Stanley, Morecambe and Stevenage – would join QPR team-mate Michael Doughty in Wiltshire should a proposed move come to fruition tomorrow.

....also from hereisthecity. Could be a rehash of previously reported stories. www.hitc.com/en-gb/2016/02/01/tt-report-west-brom-to-make-one-last-attempt-for-qpr-ace-matt-ph/?Report: West Brom to make one last attempt for QPR ace Matt PhillipsTom Thorogood @lapazenglish 3 hours ago West Bromwich Albion have been heavily linked with Queens Park Rangers’ Matt Phillips. According to the Daily Star, West Bromwich Albion are plotting one last £8 million deadline day move for Queens Park Rangers’ highly-rated winger Matt Phillips. The report claims that QPR are reluctant to sell the Scotland international, yet his refusal to sign a new contact may force their hand and allow West Brom to finally get their man. The Baggies have been keen on Phillips for some time, though any previous negotiations with the Hoops have come to standstills, with the West London club unwilling to budge. However, the 24-year-old has just 16 months left on his contract, and QPR will be well aware from the Charlie Austin case that keeping hold of him for too long will only see his price decrease. Phillips has been in decent form at Loftus Road this season, scoring five goals and adding a further four assists in 29 Championship appearances. Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink’s side are currently some way off the playoff positions, and with slim chances of promotion, the club may feel it’s best to cash in on Phillips now little is at stake. West Brom are on the lookout for new wide players having seen the on-loan Serge Gnabry return to Arsenal, and Tony Pulis has made no secret of his admiration for the QPR ace, as noted by the Birmingham Mail last summer. The West Midlands side currently sit in a safe mid-table position in the Premier League, though thus far they have been one of the quietest top-flight teams in the January transfer window.

Why are people still going on about "should have taken the £12m"? There was only one offer and it wasn't the club he wanted. QPR never had the choice of whether or not to take the £12m!

From the Offie too LOAN RANGERS: COMLEY MAKES DEBUT AND DOUGHTY MOTMPUBLISHED 12:00 1st February 2016 by @qprfc QPR players in action throughout the leagues … Brandon Comley plays against Everton in FA Cup defeat Michael Doughty voted Man of the Match for Swindon Town Darnell Furlong on winning side for Cambridge United Steven Caulker makes first Liverpool start BRANDON Comley made his debut for Carlisle United in their 3-0 FA Cup Fourth Round defeat against Everton on Sunday. Midfielder Comley - currently on loan at the League Two outfit - started in midfield for Keith Curle’s side. He eventually made way after 63 minutes, being replaced by forward Jabo Ibehre. Meanwhile, Michael Doughty was Man of the Match for Swindon Town in their late 1-0 defeat at home to Barnsley. Doughty, who extended his loan stay at the County Ground until the end of the season on Saturday, played the full 90 minutes for Town. And despite Sam Winnall’s 88th minute winner Doughty received the plaudits for his display. Some reports say we are holding back on a bid for Roofe from Oxford and will only bid if Phillips goes.
Not sure why we would hold back as I'm sure Phillips will not be here next season even if he stays today so why not get the guy in cheap now and give ourselves time to see how he does.

Does it really matter about Austin anymore?
The deal is £4m and could rise to £8m with add ons. Better than nothing at the end of the season.
I felt he should have gone last summer but seems like most Prem clubs would have rather paid their millions for French League players with no Premier League experience. It is what it is.
I've moved on from Charlie and am just looking to next season now.
Hopefully Green and Phillips can go today and the rest of the overpaid tat can bog off when their deals run down in June.
Someone will hopefully take Fer off our hands on the summer and that will be the last vestige of the most awful and damaging transfer period in our dark history.
Harr has it spot on about making sure we are ready to hit the ground running at the srart of next season. That should be the aim now, to make sure we're well prepared for the start of next season regardless of what league we're in.

And we will be stuck with Diakite until June when he walk away with Gobern If JET goes we need another striker on loan maybe?
