From the Western Daily Press Bristol City expected to throw midfielder Ben Gladwin straight into their battleBy Western Daily Press | Posted: January 23, 2016 By ALAN BROWN Bristol City loan signing Ben Gladwin is set to go straight into the starting line-up for the Championship match against Leeds at Elland Road today. Both Gladwin and central defender Alex Pearce, who joined City on loan this week from QPR and Derby respectively, have assured City's interim boss John Pemberton they are ready to play. Gladwin has played only fleetingly for QPR this season, but he made 13 appearances on loan with Swindon, the last of which was on December 28. Pearce has not played as much and that is something he is keen to change. Pemberton has spoken of the need be able to rest central defender Aden Flint for the first time this season at some point, but it may be a bigger call for the boss to put Pearce straight into the starting line-up. Pemberton spoke this week of the need to score goals from midfield and ease some of the pressure felt by the strikers. He admires Gladwin's ability as a ball carrier and a goal threat from midfield, where he can play out wide, centrally or just behind a striker. Gladwin sought assurances regarding the immediate future of Pemberton before joining City. Having been on the wrong end of a managerial change at parent club Queens Park Rangers, the 23-year-old midfielder was not about to risk history repeating itself. Signed by Chris Ramsay last summer, the former Swindon Town man featured in Rangers' first team squad to begin with. But the decision to sack Ramsay did Gladwin no favours. Approached by Championship strugglers City last weekend, Gladwin wanted to know that Pemberton would be staying in charge before committing himself. "It (the managerial situation) crossed my mind briefly, but as soon as I came in and spoke to John, it put my mind at rest a little bit," revealed Gladwin. He added: "That's up for the club to sort out – I'm just here to play football. But you don't want to come in and then another manager takes over straight away. Having spoken to John, I'm quite happy about the situation. It is always good for players to be settled and to know what they are doing. "I'll probably try and get myself a place down here, move down and concentrate on football." Gladwin opted to throw in his lot with City despite the fierce rivalry that existed between the Robins and Swindon Town last season. A part of the Town side that pushed City all the way in the race for the League One title, the midfielder has put his need to play first team football ahead of previous allegiances. He said: "There was a bit of rivalry there from last season but, for me, it's all about playing Championship football. With that in mind, it was an easy decision to make. "I think the rivalry between the two clubs spurred us both on throughout the season. "I know it means a lot to the fans and I know I might get some stick from the Swindon supporters, but I have to make the best decision for my career. "It has been tough at QPR. But I understand the situation and, so long as I can get out and play some football, I'm not going to get too worried about it. "I still need to prove to myself that I can be a Championship player, so I'm excited about this challenge." City midfielder Korey Smith is fit again after a leg injury having been rested for the midweek FA Cup replay against West Brom. Loan goalkeeper Richard O'Donnell is available after being cup-tied. Confirmation from the Offie GOALKEEPER MATT INGRAM JOINS QPRPUBLISHED 20:30 22nd January 2016 by @qprfc “The challenge of competing for the shirt will drive me on. Alex (Smithies) is a great keeper and I’m looking forward to working with him and the other keepers.”
R’s boss Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink is looking forward to seeing Ingram compete for a starting berth following his move to Loftus Road, telling http://www.qpr.co.uk: “Matt is one for the future, but he’s joining us at a time when he’s developing into a really good young goalkeeper. “Alex has the shirt now but I want Matt to challenge him – and that is why we have signed him. Knowing him and his character, he won’t just be coming here to sit on the bench.

I bet Green stays and collects a very nice pay cheque. Won't play or be on the bench for the rest of the season IMO. So this alone will reduce his potential earnings going into the future and so may force his hand somewhat. He can do a Cesar and stay in the wilderness taking a big paycheck for the next few months or he may move on, but with Smithes, Lumley and Ingham available he won't even bench warm ever again for us IMO.

It could force his hand but at his age and on his earnings, he will take one for the team (his team that is) and enjoy being paid for hanging around

Another striker? West London Sport reporting an article in the Sunday People: Apparently, has discipline problems, been there a few times 23 featured and 3 goals only , with a red card and seven yellows. The French Under-21 international is seen as a potential replacement for Charlie Austin, who has finally left Loftus Road and made the move to Southampton. The R’s are eager to tie up a deal for the youngster so that they are prepared for the second half of the season and plan to tempt Bordeaux to let him go by placing a bid of around £1m. There are a number of other forwards who are on the club’s radar, despite the signing of Conor Washington last week. However, they still feel that they need more firepower and Crivelli is currently their top priority, with the club preparing to make the move for him in the next few days. Crivelli has featured 23 times for Bordeaux this season so far, bagging himself three goals along the way. He’s shown plenty of promise for a 20-year old however, the one slight issue is his discipline – he’s also picked up 7 yellows and one straight red card this year too.

From hereisthecity www.hitc.com/en-gb/2016/01/25/report-qprs-rob-green-still-wants-crystal-palace-transfer-despit/?Report: QPR's Rob Green still wants Crystal Palace transfer despite proposed deal failing@ollydawes 6 hours ago Queens Park Ranges goalkeeper Rob Green is reportedly still keen on a move to Crystal Palace. According to The Times, Queens Park Rangers goalkeeper Robert Green still wants to join Crystal Palace - despite a move falling apart earlier this month. Palace have yet to make any headlines during the January transfer window, but the R's have seen star striker Charlie Austin leave the club for Southampton. New manager Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink has spent his money on Peterborough striker Conor Washington, whilst he also snapped up goalkeeper Matt Ingram from Wycombe. Ingram's arrival has cast doubt on the future of fellow shot stopper Robert Green, who has just one year left on his contract at Loftus Road. Now, The Times report that Green still wants to join Crystal Palace, despite a deal between the two clubs falling through earlier in the January transfer window. The report states that the initial move would involve Palace goalkeeper Alex McCarthy returning to former club QPR on loan, but he had no interest in that move. Palace boss Alan Pardew has seen first choice goalkeeper Wayne Hennessey commit a number of mistakes recently, with McCarthy seemingly unlikely to start and veteran Julian Speroni seen as little more than cover, hence his interest in Green. With the former England international potentially third choice at Loftus Road, he may still get his move to Palace - but it may need the Eagles to part with a goalkeeper first.

From Gazette Live www.gazettelive.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/matt-phillips-middlesbrough-cool-interest-10783615?Matt Phillips: Middlesbrough cool interest in costly QPR winger and turn attention to other targets11:00, 25 JAN 2016 BY ANTHONY VICKERS Boro valued Matt Phillips at £6m, but QPR have set the bar far higher at a figure understood to be well above what they can spend Boro's interest in QPR winger Matt Phillips has faded after the asking price went beyond their pocket. Boro chiefs made an approach last week for the livewire flanker and valued him at £6m. But QPR have set the bar far higher and want £8m - a figure understood to be well above what Boro can spend. Former Blackpool man Phillips, 24, who has also played in the Premier League with Rangers, matched the profile of their targets but attention has now switched to others. Phillips, who Rangers snapped up for £5m in August 2013, is one of several midfield targets for Boro as Aitor Karanka looks to beef up his attacking options for the promotion run-in. Boro are looking for a speedy midfielder with good distribution and delivery who can play on the left but also offer extra options all along the front three. Phillips has played 24 times and scored four goals this season and is a regular in the QPR side but is available. QPR are under pressure to cut their wage bill, over £75m last year, while Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink needs to sell to raise cash if he is to shuffle his own pack. Newcastle showed interest in Phillips before switching their attention to Spurs wideman Andros Townsend. Other clubs have also made inquiries but baulked at the price.

From Sport Witness sportwitness.ning.com/forum/topics/after-london-talks-qpr-face-fight-with-serie-a-side-to-sign-interAfter London talks QPR face fight with Serie A side to sign internationalPosted by SPORT WITNESS on January 25, 2016 at 11:45 in Sport Witness Football Bologna have joined the race to sign free agent Kevin Constant according to TMW. The midfielder has been linked with a host of other clubs after recently being released by Trabzonspor, including Queens Park Rangers. TMW have revealed Bologna coach Roberto Donadoni is still looking to strengthen his squad in this transfer window, and Constant is an option open to the Serie A side. Since promotion to Serie A Bologna have brought in the likes of Mattia Destro and Emanuele Giaccherini in order to consolidate their place in the top flight. They are also set to hold a meeting with Southampton’s Gaston Ramirez today, and he could be joined by Constant. Earlier in the transfer window we covered reports that Constant had travelled to London to hold talks with QPR over a possible move. The Guinea international’s contract with Trabzonspor was cancelled after disagreements over unpaid wages and related financial benefits, so the Championship side were looking to take advantage of landing the 28 year old on a free.

More on Constant from Sports Witness sportwitness.ning.com/forum/topics/agent-confirms-offers-from-england-for-qpr-midfield-targetAgent confirms offers from England for QPR midfield target Posted by SPORT WITNESS on January 25, 2016 at 14:02 in Sport Witness Football The agent of Kevin Constant has told the Italian media he’s had offers from clubs across Europe for his client. The midfielder has been linked with a move to Queens Park Rangers after the West London side held talks with the free agent. Speaking to TMW, Oscar Damiani revealed he’s had offers from England for Constant, but also from other clubs in Europe. Damiani didn’t go as far to name the English club, but it’s QPR who have been strongly linked with the Guinea international. However, Constant’s agent went on to say the 28 year old would welcome a move to move to Italy after Bologna’s recent interest in the player. “He had offers from England and the rest of Europe, but Kevin would be content and happy of a possible transfer to Bologna. He wants to re-launch and Italy would be ideal," said Damiani with regards to the future of Constant. Only today we covered reports that Bologna had joined the race to sign Constant, and their coach Roberto Donadoni was keen to bring in the midfielder. Constant is currently without a club after he terminated his contract with Turkish side Trabzonspor because of unpaid wages.

From the Offie, the latest "Loan Ranger" news LOAN RANGERS: QPR PAIR MAKE DEBUTSPUBLISHED 15:00 25th January 2016 by @qprfc Ben Gladwin and Michael Doughty involved for Bristol City and Swindon Town … Ben Gladwin makes debut for Bristol City in 1-0 defeat at Leeds Michael Doughty makes first appearance for Swindon Town Darnell Furlong plays the full 90 minutes in 1-1 draw for Cambridge Brandon Comley and Cole Kpekawa unused subs for Carlisle and Orient BEN Gladwin made his debut for Bristol City at the weekend following his three-month loan move to Ashton Gate. Gladwin played 61 minutes of the Robins 1-0 defeat at Leeds United. The winger was replaced by Bobby Reid two minutes after Leeds’ winning goal from Souleymane Doukara. Meanwhile, teammate Michael Doughty was another loanee to make his debut - this time for Swindon Town - in their 1-1 draw at Sheffield United. Doughty, who is currently on loan at the County Ground for a month, started against the Blades before eventually making way for Jeremy Balmy four minutes from time. Right-back Darnell Furlong played the full 90 minutes for Cambridge United, his third appearance for the U’s, in their 1-1 draw at home to Hartlepool United. Shaun Derry’s side looked to be heading for defeat at the Abbey Stadium until Ben Williamson’s 90th minute equaliser. Fellow Under-21s defender Cole Kpekawa was an unused substitute for Leyton Orient in their 2-0 win at Wycombe Wanderers. The R’s youngster extended his stay at Brisbane Road on Thursday until the start of March. Elsewhere, Brandon Comley was also an unused substitute for Carlisle United following his loan move to the League Two side. He watched on from the bench as the Cumbrians drew 1-1 with York City. Finally, Steven Caulker came on one minute from time in a dramatic 5-4 win for Liverpool at Norwich City on Saturday lunchtime. Caulker replaced Alberto Moreno Perez in the 89th minute at Carrow Road with the Reds leading 4-3. Two minutes into stoppage time Sebastian Bassong equalised for the Canaries before Adam Lallana grabbed a 95th minute winner for Caulker’s side. From hereisthecity www.hitc.com/en-gb/2016/01/25/queens-park-rangers-owner-tony-fernandes-gives-insight-into-ben/?Queens Park Rangers owner Tony Fernandes gives insight into Ben Gladwin's and Michael Doughty's futures at Loftus Road@johnverrall 2 hours ago Ben Gladwin and Michael Doughty are both currently out on loan from Queens Park Rangers. Tony Fernandes insists that both Michael Doughty and Ben Gladwin have long term futures at Queens Park Rangers. Doughty and Gladwin have recently been sent out on loan, to Swindon Town and Bristol City respectively, with QPR deeming them to be surplus to requirements. However, Fernandes insists that the young pair are highly rated by staff at Loftus Road, and that they will come back into first team contention next season. Gladwin only joined QPR from Swindon Town during the summer transfer window, but he has struggled to make much of an impression at the London club. The attacking midfielder shone throughout pre season, but he has found his chances more limited as time has progressed. Gladwin has already been sent out on loan to Swindon earlier in the campaign, and he has failed to force his way into Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink’s line up. Doughty, meanwhile, has played eight times for QPR this term, but he has only featured once since Hasselbaink took charge. The 23-year-old made his debut for Swindon against Sheffield United at the weekend.

From The 72 the72.co.uk/46132/queens-park-rangers-interested-in-manchester-united-trialist/?Queens Park Rangers interested in Manchester United trialistBY TOM ALLEN ON JAN 25, 2016 Queens Park Rangers are interested in signing Livingston striker Matthew Knox after he had a trial at Manchester United, according to a report. Knox, 16, recently became Livingston’s youngest ever player after making his debut for the club in their Boxing Day win over St Mirren. The striker trained with Manchester United recently, but the club are only the latest Premier League side to take Knox on trial. The forward has also been training with Everton, Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur with the hope of earning a move to one of these clubs. Livingston manager David Hopkin has said that the club are yet to receive a formal offer for Knox, but this could be about to change following interest from Queens Park Rangers. It is understood that Livingston want to keep hold of their youth product until the summer at least, but Knox could move in the current transfer window if a formal offer is made. Hopkin added: “There’s plenty of interest from English Premiership and Championship clubs and he’s had spells on trial at plenty of clubs down south. “As far as bids, I’m not aware of anything formal but we have certainly had plenty of positive comments and interest from some big clubs. “He’s a young boy who has got great potential. I’ve worked as a youth coach for the past few years and five or six of the first-teamers at Morton came through the youth set-up when I was there. I know how good they are and rate them but Knox has something special and something different.

Suppose the two definites going in next 6 days are Phillips and Green So we lose Austin, Phillips and Green and keep the old sh1t then, yeah there's a reason we cant offload those ones above I suppose.

From Fox sports Netherlands, this is the guy that tore Konchesky to pieces......
Well we have two Dutch players Fer and Chery already and maybe the JFH factor means he might go for him?
Rajiv Van La Parra is in the interest of Queens Park Rangers, Middlesbrough and Huddersfield Town, know FOX Sports. The Dutch winger is currently under contract with Wolverhampton Wanderers. Huddersfield currently seems the most concrete. The Terriers saw an initial bid to be rejected, but have now submitted a second bid. QPR, with Jerrel Hasselbaink as manager, and Middlesbrough have Van La Parra are also on the radar. The Dutchman was sidelined earlier this season at Wolverhampton and dropped in December rent to Brighton & Hove Albion. In one month he impressed including two goals and two assists. In early January Van La Parra returned to the Wolves, where the transfer area at some time been uneasy. Thus departed include striker Benik Afobe to Bournemouth. La Parra this was his chance against Fulham, Cardiff City and last Saturday against QPR. When he was even named Man of the Match. For the London club also reason to intensify the interest for the attacker. The former player include Feyenoord and SC Heerenveen is still under contract until mid-2017 at Wolverhampton. (FOX Sports)

The 29-year-old right-back was recently granted a trial by Rangers, who have been keen to assess his fitness – Motta has been without a club since leaving Watford at the end of last season. Prior to his three-month spell at Vicarage Road, during which time he made seven league starts for the Hornets, Motta was at Juventus. Motta, who began his career at Roma and also spent a year at Udinese, was sent out on loan to Genoa, Bologna and Catania by Juve before eventually securing a move to England. Rangers believe he can provide them with short-term cover at right-back before longer-term options are assessed in the summer.

We had that 5 game burst at the start getting ten points. Taken us 24 games to get the last 26 points, absolutely disgusting when you look at the squad. Sorry I dont see it as consolidation, I see it as gutless and shambles, Tony can spin it whatever way he wants. Consolidation is just an excuse for failure, ask Hull and Burnley if the are consolidating.

From the Daily Mail Matt Phillips could leave QPR this month, admits manager Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink with West Brom keen on £10m winger - Highly-rated QPR winger Matt Phillips is a target for West Brom - The Baggies saw a £7m bid for Phillips rejected last summer - Hoops boss Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink has not ruled out selling Phillips - QPR have set a £10m asking price for the Scotland international - West Brom's bid will likely depend on the sale of Saido Berahino By LAURIE WHITWELL FOR MAILONLINE PUBLISHED: 22:56 EST, 27 January 2016 | UPDATED: 23:29 EST, 27 January 2016 Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink has not ruled out selling Matt Phillips should his price be met before transfer deadline day – but insists he wants to keep the winger and make him a better player. Phillips has been the subject of Premier League interest since Queens Park Rangers were relegated last season with West Bromwich Albion head coach Tony Pulis an admirer. QPR rejected a £7million bid from West Brom last summer, believed to be holding out for £10m, but Phillips now has only has 18 months left on his deal. Pulis is only able to spend what he brings in, so any move for Phillips is likely to be dependent on Saido Berahino being sold. 'That is a question for (director of football) Les Ferdinand but as far as I know they (WBA) have not been in for Matt,' said Hasselbaink. 'But Matt is a very young exciting player who is catching the eye of a lot of clubs. 'Do I want to lose Matt? No. He is a pleasure to work with. I do believe I can make him better. I do believe there is a lot of mileage in him and he's one of those players who fits in with the plans of QPR. 'But business is business and everybody has his price.' Hasselbaink has brought in Conor Washington for £3.5m after selling Charlie Austin for £4m, but is easing the 23-year-old into Championship football. 'You have to give him time but also you have to be good to him,' said Hasselbaink. 'He has to have every chance of succeeding and also the boys have to understand how he plays and how he can be served in the right way. 'We are looking (to do more business). It's not easy to get the right individual, but we are looking.' -ends Read more: www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-3419022/Matt-Phillips-leave-QPR-month-admits-manager-Jimmy-Floyd-Hasselbaink-West-Brom-keen-10m-winger.html#ixzz3yS0n51qp Follow us: @mailonline on Twitter | DailyMail on Facebook
