- Flashback 5 years QPR'S ITALY TOUR SQUAD CONFIRMED QPR OFFICIAL SITE - 9th July 2015 24-man squad confirmed for QPR's pre-season training camp in Italy ... QPR head to Italy later today for nine-days Chris Ramsey confirms 24-man travelling first team squad Trialists Oscar Goburn and Chris Schorch part of travelling party Armand Traore to remain in England following injury QPR have named a 24-man squad for their pre-season training camp in Italy, which commences later today. The squad depart from Heathrow this afternoon, ahead of a nine day tour in Stresa, which includes friendly fixtures against Shakhtar Donetsk, AS Monaco and Al Ittihad. The travelling party includes international trio Rob Green, Leroy Fer and Charlie Austin, who all reported back for training earlier this week, as well as summer signings Massimo Luongo, Ben Gladwin, Jamie Mackie, Jay Emmanuel-Thomas and Sebastian Polter. Young trio Darnell Furlong, Brandon Comley and Reece Grego-Cox are also included. R’s Head Coach Chris Ramsey has also named trialists Chris Schorch and Oscar Gobern in his squad. German defender Schorch is a free agent following his release from MSV Duisburg, as is former Huddersfield Town midfielder Gobern. Armand Traore misses out owing to a minor muscle injury. Director of Football, Les Ferdinand, told http://www.qpr.co.uk: “It’s a really important trip for us. “Pre-season training camps are always vital and this one will be no different, especially with the vast changes to the squad here over the summer. “It’s a big team bonding opportunity for the lads, especially those new players who have only been here a couple of weeks at the most.” He added: “The games are important in terms of ticking things over. “The standard of the opposition are strong in Italy, but results aren’t the be all and end all. “Of course we’ll be going out to perform and try and win, but there’s too much emphasis put on results at this time of year. “You can only judge teams when the season gets underway – that’s the true test.” #RsInItaly squad ... Why are we taking Gobern on trial couldnt make it in a bang average Huddersfield side. Doesnt look anything exciting, they loaned him to Chesterfield. Coventry and Walsall were going to buy him. Are we scrapping the barrel for the rest of our signings now.
Will have a team of League One soon if the quality goes, which they will.

Point being though , should we even be trialling this level of player. To my mind he's nothing better than a low end Championship team or Div 1 team, maybe thats our vision now ?

My moans for the day are ..... Gobern is not good enough for us, take the three of our youngsters on trip as Rory mentioned. Diakite, I am reading people on twitter saying theres still a good player in there ? Not convinced, was crap for us and at Watford, they thought he was dire. Accident waiting to happen. We need 11 players on the pitch for every game not 10. Finally why are we giving all the bad eggs away for nothing - Traore free ? How can that be .Didnt he cost us a million. So we lose money on Taarabt and Traore Apart from that I am very happy with the summer so far although still dont think I will buy a new kit

I am guessing Petrasso and Manning will join the likes of other promising youngsters, Lumley, Donaldson, Kpekawa, Mitchell, Mulraney & Pattie etc. etc. (plus new arrivals Prohouly & N'Guessan) on the EDS Tour.
Robinson is injured, Traore has been discussed and Sandro is still assumedly being held by Border Control ! The 2 who must be most disappointed though are Michael Harriman & Frankie Sutherland both of whom are "over age" players in EDS terms.

Traore a jack of all trades, master of none.

I cant see how any person can be enthused about the pre season squad.
If we loose any of the following and there is a good chance we will, I fear we will be bang in trouble.
Green or McCarthy Caulker Faurlin Fer Phillips Austin

Depending on replacements... Mac, I love the way your glass is always half full, as mine is always half empty, but be honest, that squad without the players I mentioned, is awful and not a top half championship team. I would go as far as say they would have a go, but wont be competitive. If we don't loose any of them, fine.

Queens Park Rangers winger Matt Phillips’ future may be uncertain, but he seems to be taking it all in his stride. Phillips has been on the books of QPR since 2013, but there is speculation that he could leave the London outfit this summer. According to The Mirror, Premier League club West Bromwich Albion are interested in signing the 24-year-old, while the same British newspaper claims that Aston Villa, Leicester City and Crystal Palace are eyeing him. However, it does not seem that the Scotland international has been affected by talks over his future, and is happy to be flying to Italy for a pre-season training campaign with his Championship club QPR. Matty Phillips @phillips_matty Off to Italy, team bonding , game time and preparation!5:34 AM - 9 Jul 2015 Another QPR player who has been linked with a move away from Loftus Road this summer is forward Charlie Austin. According to The Sun, the English forward is Newcastle United’s top target, while The Mirror claims that Southampton, West Ham United and Villa are interested in him. The Telegraph has reported of Premier League champions Chelsea’s interest in the 25-year-old, while last month The Northern Echo claimed that Liverpool made contact with former Swindon Town forward’s representatives. Austin, though, does not seem to be concerned and appears to be looking forward to QPR’s Italy trip. Charlie Austin @chazaustin9 Back with the boys off to Italy we go6:26 AM - 9 Jul 2015

It looks a stronger squad to me than what we had two years ago. That doesn't mean that I expect for promotion though!
A nice uninvolved midtable position would be wondwerful.
Hope that Samba fits in well. I would love to see him entertain us for a while this season! Also good to be trialing a centre half.

Agree with you frank but is the EDS tour only for EDS aged players? No I wouldn't have thought so Sharky, in the EDS league games you can play a limited number of "over age" players but Sutherland and Harriman are bound to be disappointed not to make the First Team Tour (they could of course be injured).

Samba Diakite, bet he is still on a hefty wage. He started with so much promise. Maybe Ramsey can get his head right.
Agree with rory about Harriman, i was hoping he would get a go at right back this year. He is good enough.
