He'll do well in Portuguese football, he'll get more space than in the EPL and Benfica won't pay him what we were Euse isn't it a bit physical off the ball in Portuguese Football? If so can't see him being happy with that! He'll be walking around the pitch going no where near the ball and playing with his gloves!

Let's face it, one or two teams aside, the Portugese League is lower Championship/upper League 1 level.
Adel will tear them up, as long as he stays mobile (ie, remembers to go to training at least once a week, uses stairs instead of lifts/escalators and keeps off the pies and paella).
He'll have European football and the fans will love him... until/unless he has a sulk.
In which case it will be the Portugese equivalent of Ground Hog Day.

QPR save themselves £3 million after losing patience with Adel Taarabt 11:44, 12 JUNE 2015 BY PAUL WARBURTON Patience finally ran out with Adel Taarabt this morning. The QPR midfielder has been released from his contract with Benfica ready to snap up a talent who fizzed and spluttered in equal measure. But at least they save themselves the best part of £3 million in wages, with Taarabt on £65k-a-week and a year left to go on his current deal. The Moroccan international joined Rangers in March 2009 from Tottenham, initially on loan, before completing a permanent transfer in the summer of 2010. Man of many moods: Adel Taarabt (L) In 2010/11, the Moroccan captained QPR to the Championship title, and was named the division’s Player of the Year after a stunning season, in which he scored 19 goals and provided a further 19 assists as the Rs returned to the top-flight after a 15-year absence. The following campaign, Taarabt helped Rangers retain their Premier League status, scoring crucial goals in victories over Arsenal and Tottenham - but those were the good times. VIEW GALLERY In between, he caused a clutch of managers to pull their hair out in frustration, and was loaned out to both AC Milan and Fulham with mixed results. Current boss Chris Ramsey had vowed to make a go of nurturing the best out of a temperamental player, but decided it was better to cut Rangers losses while he could. Taarabt made 164 appearances during his time at Loftus Road, scoring 34 goals. www.getwestlondon.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/qpr-save-themselves-3-million-9441019?

Poor Benfica, but better them, than us. He had his one glory year, then years bordering on madness.

Shame it went sour really but best for all parties concerned that this happened.
The club really should have done this before the start of last season when it was clear that he wasn't part of Redknapp's plans.
Fair play to Les and Chris for making positive off season moves to improve the club and the attitude around the club and making them early.

Well I regret that QPR and Taarabt couldnt/didnt work out. He would have been fine if he done as he was told and did not expect to do what he wanted when he wanted. Its his own fault and good riddance to the destructive piece of work. You always seem to suggest that he did nothing wrong and that the clus should have tried harder to accommodate his attitude/demands.

This is the final paragraph from a blog I wrote about Tarrabt a year or so ago when I was convinced that he was leaving us, it is as true for me now as it was then.
American author E.B. White once wrote “Genius is more often found in a cracked pot than in a whole one”, a description that perfectly describes Taarabt. It is pointless continually highlighting his faults, if he was a rounded, stable human being we would never have seen him at Loftus Road. His immaturity, selfishness and petulance have badly let him down, he is in serious danger of wasting his immense talent and has been poorly advised by those who supposedly have his best interests at heart. However QPR have been every bit as wasteful as Adel, let’s not forget that it was his genius that presented our club with a golden opportunity and it is not his fault we failed to capitalised on it. While he rarely dominated match to the same extent in the Premier League he was still a joy to watch. Walking along the Uxbridge Road towards Loftus Road he would be the player I was desperate to see, in the pub before the match he was the only name I’d look for on the team sheet. Even in his poorer games there would be a flash of brilliance that no one else on the pitch could dream of achieving. Adel Taarabt is an incredibly talented footballer and I feel very privileged to have seen him playing for my team, there will never be another quite like him. I hope that QPR don’t miss him as much as I know that I will.

I think it genuinely is a shame that he never pressed on with us after the 2010-11 season, but like any relationship that breaks down it's usually because of the faults and failings of both parties rather than always all just one person's fault. I hope he reignites his love for football in Portugal because he still has time to make something of his career before it's too late.

I'll be honest: I obviously don't KNOW what's been going at QPR...except for the snippets...How petulant was Taarabt. How much was it Redknapp unprepared to indulge/take advantage.
I have absolutely no problem a manager embracing Taarabt if that was it takes...
But that doesnt mean indulging him
It's a compromise
Can argue about fitness, character, etc, etc. I do find it strange when p[eople suggest he's not actually good enough for the Prem
And I do also know that Stan Bowles was no Saint - and was kicked out of Man City (by Joe Mercer) who also screwed him with England

One of the finest players I have ever seen at Loftus Road, but also one of the worst attitudes too.

When you think how relatively-few years, a player has at the top - and how much of it Adel has wasted.

When you think how relatively-few years, a player has at the top - and how much of it Adel has wasted. should have been playing amongst the top leagues day in day out for most of his career. I amazes me that players think they deserve the right to play instead of applying themselves and earning the right. All he needed was a Warnock figure to get his head sorted and he was by far the best player in the league. So much skill.
