QPR manager Harry Redknapp gives his verdict after Rangers crash out of the FA Cup …
HARRY Redknapp admitted there were “no positives” to take after seeing his QPR side lose 3-0 to Sheffield United in the FA Cup at Loftus Road this afternoon.
Goals from Marc McNulty and Jamal Campbell-Ryce (2) gave the visitors victory, and Redknapp conceded it was no less than the League One side deserved.
“They were better than us today,” Redknapp told www.qpr.co.uk. “They looked like a team that hadn’t played for ten days, and we looked like a team that has played four games in ten days.
“We looked lethargic, they looked sharp and they thoroughly deserve their win.
“They played well, you have to give them credit. You look at their record in the cup – they’re in the semi-finals of the League Cup having beaten Southampton. They’re a good team.
“We looked sluggish. I had to play four or five players who have played three games in a short period, but I had no-one else.
“What can you say afterwards? There’s no point shouting and screaming. Our home form has been excellent all season, it’s been fantastic.
“But the last goal today summed us up, it was a horrendous goal to give away. Their second goal was a poor goal as well – it was a ball into the box that we should have dealt with easily.”
Redknapp made seven changes from the side that drew 1-1 with Swansea City on New Year’s Day, and he explained: “We had to make some changes because of the number of games we’ve played.
“The lads you bring in, you hope they’ll come in and do a job. But I felt we only started playing when the two Chilean lads (Eduardo Vargas and Mauricio Isla) came on, we played football, we passed and moved, and we looked brighter. Before then, there was a lack of movement with us.
“There aren’t many positives I can take from today. There aren’t any, in fact.
“But, like I say, we have been excellent at home all season. But today they were sharper, and I thought they played well.
Now we have to come back. Our next home game is against Manchester United, which will be a tough game. Next weekend we play Burnley, and that’s a massive game for us.”
