Is the state of football better off today than 15/20 years ago?
There's all this TV money coming in...
Players are certainly far better paid.
Able to attract the best in the world to England.
But for fans?
So many foreign players means far less places for UK Players. Does that matter.
The changes in football: The Premiership...All the money from gates going to the home team; the parachute payments; etc, etc.
Some changes were obviously forced on us: Bosman ruling; the European community: Freedom of movement/work, etc...
But in the perfect world? I just don't see it.

The quality is better in Prem. and Our league. The cost to fans is much higher. The refereeing is worse. Smaller teams are in more and more debt. english players are losing work to world soccer players. Which will only stop if the teams have salary caps imposed. thats not the British way. One day they will have no choice. Are we better off today? Cannot compare eras. Differing times and conditions bring different solutions. Already with the recession a change in the dynamic and economics of football is in the air. Especially if it is as long as they say it will be.
