Gianni Paladini to have his say on Birmingham City17 Oct 2013 09:25 Birmingham City: Gianni Paladini to speak out on latest bid for Blues Gianni Paladini is leading a consortium which wants to buy Birmingham City Gianni Paladini is leading a consortium which wants to buy Birmingham City Gianni Paladini is set to speak out over his latest bid to buy Birmingham City. The Solihull businessman and former Queens Park Rangers chairman has been trying to strike a deal for several months. Matters came to a head a fortnight ago when Paladini was convinced an agreement had been reached. It is understood that Peter Pannu, Blues acting chairman, indicated he would put the proposal before Carson Yeung. Pannu returned to Hong Kong on October 5 following a short visit to Birmingham. But it is believed Paladini and his group have heard nothing since and now their patience is wearing thin. As speculation and rumour has gathered apace, Paladini is now preparing to comment publicly about his second, major attempt to complete a takeover of Blues on Free Radio 80s Birmingham tonight (6pm). Yeung, Blues president, is currently giving evidence in Hong Kong District Court during his trial to answer charges of alleged money-laundering. He has awarded mandates to third parties to try and sell the club on his behalf. Yeung is the largest individual shareholder of Birmingham International Holdings Limited, Blues parent company. www.birminghammail.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/birmingham-city-gianni-paladini-speak-6197361

I imagine it will be "Fresh Blood" in Birmingham!
But What will be interesting is whether (if the takeover happens) whether things repeat themselves; or whether things will be different. Both re the club and Players. And re Birmingham Fans: Will there be "special" Birmingham Fans... Will there perhaps even be a new Birmingham Fan site?

From Tom Ross' The Goalzone www.freeradio.co.uk/news/sport/paladini-speaks/"Meanwhile Blues have released a statement following the programme, it reads: “Birmingham City Football Club was disappointed to learn of Gianni Paladini’s comments during a recent radio interview and considers them to be misleading and unhelpful.” As has already been highlighted by acting chairman, Peter Pannu, the club’s president, Carson Yeung, is not interested in a full disposal of the football club. Mr Yeung still wishes to preserve the listing status of the club’s parent company, Birmingham International Holdings Limited, in Hong Kong, a point that had already been relayed to Mr Paladini’s representatives. Any formal developments regarding the ownership of the football club will be announced via the Hong Kong Stock Exchange first and foremost, in keeping with respective rules and regulations, and will not be played out through the media.”

Typical Gianni, full of half truths and BS. Mind you I can understand the Blues fans - we were under Gianni's ownership when we got promoted to the Prem and they are hoping he will achieve the same for them.

Why, when I see that face, do I want to vomit? But looking on the bright side, he did do exactly what Tango and Cash told him. But the stories he told.
Totally off his trolley.

Also it should be noted that a Wheelie Bin was seen being pushed up the motorway heading from Heathrow. Apparently a flight from Poland was mentioned.

Birmingham Mail - By Colin Tattum Gianni Paladini: "Birmingham is my heart." 20 Oct 2013 08:05Italian businessman determined to continued his bid to buy Birmingham City for £20 million Share on print Share on email Gianni Paladini is leading a consortium which wants to buy Birmingham City Gianni Paladini is leading a consortium which wants to buy Birmingham City Gianni Paladini has vowed not to give up his pursuit of Birmingham City. Even though the Italian businessman appears to have a hit a brick wall in his £20 million buyout attempt, he plans to keep trying. Former QPR chairman Paladini is keen for one last hurrah in football – and wants it to be at his beloved Blues. Paladini came over to Birmingham when he was 23, from Naples. He worked in the restaurant and nightclub industry before branching out and becoming a football agent. Paladini, who brokered deals for such players as Juninho, Fabrizio Ravenelli and was a well connected go-between for transfers involving Italian players, became involved in QPR in 2003-04. He rose to the rank of chairman and secured the considerable financial clout of his friends Bernie Ecclestone and Flavio Briatore. There was plenty of controversy at Loftus Road during Paladin’s spell, which ended in 2011, but QPR went from England’s third tier to the Premier League. For Paladini, though, Blues has always been his true love. www.birminghammail.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/gianni-paladini-birmingham-heart-6210612

Ah...Mel Eves...I remember him! Mel Eves/Birmingham Mail Mel Eves: Time for Pannu and Yeung to sell Birmingham City 20 Oct 2013 07:00Soccer agent and former Wolves star Mel Eves has his say on the local football scene Isn’t it time for Peter Pannu and Carson Yeung to finally put an end to Birmingham City’s misery – and sell the club? Blues have notched just three wins in 11 Championship games prior to this afternoon’s clash with Leeds United and sit perilously close to the relegation places. Yet I think manager Lee Clark, all of his backroom staff and their youthful squad have done brilliantly with the resources available. After Jack Butland, Nathan Redmond and Marlon King departed in the summer, Clark was left having to give any number of young players their chance earlier than was ideal. I won’t name names, but a glance through the starting XI for the defeat by Bolton Wanderers two weeks ago will prove my point. At the moment, there is no money for replacements and there won’t be until this fiasco is resolved. Solihull businessman Gianni Paladini went public this week to reveal that the £20 million he offered for the club more than a year ago was still there and, in fact, incentives for eventual promotion back to the Premiership had been added. Paladini first went public with his interest 15 months ago, since when Yeung has been facing money-laundering charges in Hong Kong. Whilst that process has dragged on incessantly, the club has been up for sale and although there have been reports of interest from various groups both from the UK and in the Far East, Paladini’s consortium have been the most persistent. As he has spoken out again after weeks of rumour and speculation with the deal apparantly agreed by Pannu before the Bolton game – it seems obvious that he is determined to go through with the purchase somehow. And I can’t see that the current owners have any choice but to sell. The club seems just to be keeping its head above water at the moment – both financially and in terms of the Championship table. But that perilous situation can’t last forever and if nothing is done in time to bring additional revenue into St Andrew’s before the January transfer window opens, then I fear we could be in for a repeat of Wolverhampton Wanderers’ second-half meltdown last season. Of course, Wolves’ demise was due to wholly different reasons than those that are behind Blues’ woes but the word ‘mismanagement’ still applies. I don’t believe the club needs a massive influx of new players if Paladini gets the reins; maybe two or three would do the job. But I do wonder whether Yeung and Pannu have the club’s interests at heart at this point. Given the ongoing talks with Paladini, they are obviously interested in selling – and as any seller would they are looking to achieve the best possible terms. However, as I have stated before, a football club is no ordinary asset and owners have to be aware of their greater responsibilty to the history, culture and community the club represents. The interests of the club, the fans and the city must come before their own interests – and as Paladini seems the only show in town, it seems obvious to me that Yeung and Pannu have to pick up the phone, do the deal – and leave St Andrew’s. www.birminghammail.co.uk/sport/sport-opinion/mel-eves-time-pannu-yeung-6210481
