That last photo Bushman...I dont recall anyone looking like him playing for the first team or reserves in the 1957-59 era
I would say pre 1957 for sure.

Thanks bushman. I was told that he used to be a good inside forward for the R's and was the regular penalty taker
I did see him play at Loftus rd once...when he turned out for Halifax town in a Div 3 fixture in 1958..R's beat Halifax 3-1 I think.

Harping back to Conway Smith, he had one hell of a shot on him and I have seen a shot from him nearly take the goalkeeper into the net. Remember, the balls were leather in those days and much heavier than the little balloons they play with now.

Great Pic Bushman. 1957/58...My First season. Amazing those wooden seats on the touchline! A hazard to both players and spectators I think they were removed circa 1959 about the time Alec Stock took over from Jack Taylor but I am not certain

That picture of Tony and Bobby was in the days when footballers wore real boots rather than carpet slippers. Yes, I know you will all argue about speed, comfort and what have you but in those days meta-tarsal injuries were virtually non-existent.
