8 Years ago today -
Sad to pass on the news that Dave Sexton has passed away.
Will be forever remembered for managing the greatest QPR team ever.

Just heard the news on Radio 5.
So sad - arguably our greatest manager and certainly presided over the greatest team never to win the title.
RIP

Heard it as well - RIP one of the best ever QPR coaches.
As an aside, I wish the Premiership Show would do their homework - they talk about Dave Sexton managing Chelsea and Man Utd with no mention of a certain other club that he coached.

And what was so notable - apart from our obvious Championship & Cup success - was that Sexton didn't do what so many managers do: Get rid of the players he inherited and bring in "his own" players. The 1975/76 Team was Gordon Jago's team, with the sole exception of John Hollins (+ Reserves Don Shanks & late in the season, Peter Eastoe)

Niall Quinn on Super Sunday said, I can remember his achievements at Chelsea Man Utd and QPR. At least that's one.

Dave Sexton achieved the near impossible.
He inherited a brilliant side & managed to improve it. There can be no higher praise to his talent than that.
RIP Dave & thank you & Gordon Jago for the fun & pleasure you gave to us.

Very sad News certainly our finest manager IMHO and one of the most under rated men in football. Way ahead of his time in his style of coaching who managed some great teams playing excellent football.Should of got the top England job will be sadly missed. RIP Dave Sexton genius

RIP Dave & thank you & Gordon Jago for the fun & pleasure you gave to us. Exactly. Inherited Jago's brilliantly assembled team, gained Hollins & Masson and incorporated the Dutch "Total football" style of play. Genius whom IMHO should never have left us for Manure but kicked on. The team was showing signs of age but with the likes of Goddard & Allen making a name in the youth team, he could have come good. we would have kept Thomas & Parkes too. RIP Dave and thanks for the way you had that team playing.
