Green may not be as bad as we think and Cesar - not as good as... (new league, new club, new country, fans, players, etc).
We'll see.
I'm really sorry for Green, but am quite happy getting Cesar.

MAIL
Brazil keeper Cesar hails QPR as he confirms sensational switch from Inter Milan Inter Milan goalkeeper Julio Cesar has confirmed he will sign for QPR in what will be the most surprising signing of the summer. Sportsmail revealed The Champions League and five-time Serie A winner was in London on Monday to discuss terms ahead of completing his move, and revealed his reasons for swapping the San Siro for Loftus Road. Cesar has been forced down the pecking order at Inter after an alarming drop in form since the departure of Jose Mourinho. And after the arrival of Samir Handanovic from Udinese this summer he knows he simply will not play. 'I will leave Inter, I want to thank everyone for these seven wonderful years,' he told Rete Globo. 'I would like to be on the pitch before Inter-Roma to hug all the fans. That would be a nice gesture and I don't think the president will deny me that. 'I choose to join QPR because I think will play more than at Inter and Premier League is watched worldwide. He added: 'I am a bit surprised, but I am delighted to have been given the opportunity by QPR to come to London, learn English and play in the Premier League. 'It all started during my summer vacation, when Inter suggested that I reduce my salary. No player in my situation would have done that - I am not a hypocrite and I can talk openly about this. 'It became a tough situation for both parties. I then spoke to my representative and I thought this was a good choice.' Chairman Tony Fernandes believes the signing can help Mark Hughes lift the team away from near the foot of the table. Rangers lost 5-0 at home to Swansea on the opening day, took a point from Norwich — and travel to Manchester City next. Samba style: The keeper is regarded as one Brazil's greatest ever Cesar, 32, had two years left on his Inter contract and the news is being greeted with surprise in Brazil, where Cesar is regarded as one of their greatest keepers. He was voted the third best in the world in 2009 as well as Serie A keeper of the year in 2009 and 2010. He may not be fit to face City, though he is said to be eager to play. Hughes is also still in the market for a centre-back, with one of his targets, Ricardo Carvalho told he has no future at Real Madrid. The Spanish side's manager Mourinho said of the former Chelsea man: 'Ricardo is not part of our plans for the season. It is up to him whether he wants to continue playing football or stay at Real Madrid and meet his contractual obligations and practically end his sporting career. 'A lot of teams are interested in Ricardo. He is a quality player and there is interest in him. There are various teams from different leagues who have shown an interest in him.' : www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2195212/Julio-Cesar-confirms-QPR-move.html#ixzz24w5UD67B

STANDARD Julio Cesar move tells Cisse pressure is on at QPR29 August 2012 Djibril Cisse admits the signing of goalkeeper Julio Cesar from Inter Milan has got every Queens Park Rangers player fearing for their place. Cesar is expected to complete a free transfer from Inter Milan today to become the club’s ninth acquisition of a busy summer at Loftus Road. The 32-year-old watched from the stands as Rangers claimed their first win of the season His arrival means Robert Green could have already lost his role as Rangers’ No1, having only joined from West Ham on a free transfer in June. Doubts over Green surfaced after QPR’s 5-0 loss to Swansea on the opening day and the club have shown a ruthless streak by moving for the experienced Brazil international Cisse himself is aware he faces increased competition for a starting role up front following the arrivals of Andy Johnson and Junior Hoilett in the close season. When asked if the signing of Cesar has left the players feeling none of their places in the team are safe, he said: “Yes, but that’s football. Every day you have to show that you deserve to play and you’re the best at what you do, but it’s not that easy. Sometimes other players play in your position and you have to accept it and keep fighting the next day. That is what makes a good squad — to have a good bench as well.” Manager Mark Hughes revealed after the victory over Walsall that he had yet to speak to Green about how it could affect his role at the club but Cisse is sure Cesar will prove to be a great signing. He added: “I played against him when I was at Lazio. He is good with both feet, in the air and has really quick reactions. He is a complete keeper. “This shows the club want to go forward and want to show the whole world that we can do well and want to do well. It’s a big statement.” Rangers booked their place in the Capital One Cup third round with goals from Shaun Wright-Phillips, Bobby Zamora and Jose Bosingwa. ... www.standard.co.uk/sport/football/julio-cesar-move-tells-cisse-pressure-is-on-at-qpr-8092209.html

Ide like to agree with you, but it's a long time till March... And he's sure to be good with a salad! ;D
Presumably the Loft will start chanting "Hail Cesar!" every time he makes a decent stop... Will he have his own "No 1" toga?

If you're old enough to remember Morecambe & Wise think back... When Eric wasn't plugging Luton Town FC he was often to be found in a play, what Ernie wrote, dressed as a centurion and carrying a standard with the famous abbreviation "SPQR" transposed to SQPR!It's taken forty years, but finally this Cesar thing completes the circle

how can signing one of the top 5 keepers in the world be a mistake? He was perhaps top five two years ago but can't find him ranked in even the top twenty anywhere. Not being picky, just stating a fact. Inter would not let a global top five keeper walk away on a free, we have him because his status has fallen. Is that good for us? Who knows. Is he fully fit and over his injured elbow, who knows? Equally, it's difficult to have a decent ranking if you've not been playing.

Although...it's a bit weird: Cesar saying that Inter tried to reduce his wages / perhaps make him a back-up goalkeeper. WHY?
Do Inter know something about him that we don't? Who are they planning to bring as a replacement, or they already have done that?
