I would take Del Piero for one season on a pay as you play deal. He is still one of the best finishers in Europe regardless of age. Scored some vital goals for Juve this season. Like most, wasn't/haven't been too keen on Del Piero. But in a 25 man squad, if we're carrying 4 strikers and two of them will be getting the majority of the games in Zamora and Cisse, Del Piero makes a lot of sense as the 4th striker. Bags of experience, will command enormous respect in the dressing room, presumably a top veteran leader who our younger players can learn loads from. An enormous upgrade over DJ Campbell. Who knows, he could even take Taarabt under his wing and help him improve his game

No question about his ability but his age ? He might find the Prem much faster and would be used as a sub only?

By Alan Nixon Comments 18 May 2012 21:30 QPR go Green: Hoops will move for West Ham keeper if they miss promotion Hughes hopes an offer of around £50,000 per week will be enough to see off interest from Malaga, West Brom and Tottenham Shepherds Bush Green? QPR hope Blackpool will help them sign the West Ham star QPR boss Mark Hughes will swoop for England keeper Robert Green this week – if West Ham blow their bid for promotion back to the Premier League. Current Hoops No.1 Paddy Kenny is set to rejoin former Loftus Road chief Neil Warnock at Championship side Leeds. And Hughes wants to beat Spanish side Malaga to Green's signature by offering him as much as £50,000 a week. Green’s future will be decided in Saturday’s Championship play-off final - defeat by Blackpool would signal a swift exit for the Hammers star. West Brom and Tottenham are also interested in handing the 32-year-old a Premier League return, and West Ham will try to re-sign Green - who has let his deal run down so he can leave as a free agent - but QPR are now the hot favourites. Rangers can offer the player, who was named this week in Roy Hodgson's England squad for the Euros, big terms because there would be no transfer fee involved. Hughes wants to tie up a deal soon as he begins to rebuild a squad that was not safe from relegation until the final day of the season. www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/qpr-want-rob-green-the-west-839476

Well a well respected poster on WATRB seems to think we are in advanced talks with Gomes from Spurs. Don't want to believe him so I will choose not to.

I thought the Gomes story was going round last window?
Gomes actually is a very good keeper but he is subject to the odd clanger. He also made plenty of match winning saves. Same as Green really.
I think you just have to accept that most keepers will make the occasional gaffe. Even De Geae at Man Utd does.

I think you just have to accept that most keepers will make the occasional gaffe. Even De Geae at Man Utd does. Gomes is a quality shot stopper but an average all round keeper. Not very commanding of his area and as you said is known to make an absolute clanger from time to time.

If those two things happen I will be very very happy.
Good thing is we have Nedum, SWP and Mike Rigg who all know Adam and could persuade him to join.

Imagine Tarbs on the left and Adam on the right, with Diakite and Faurlin sitting in the middle of the park and Zamora and Cisse running a muck up front... My lips are watering...

Johnson would be a boss signing in my opinion. Cissé would love him and Taarabt providing him with service.

That my Greek friend would be a fabulous line up. Attacking, yet also mindful of defensive duties. Would anyone in Europe want Joey? I can see him ending up somewhere like Japan or the USA. He's made himself a hot spud. Now he laughs and smirks, wait till the reality sets in and he realises what he's done to his own career. DOH.

Foster/Al-Habsi/Gordon
Onouha - Ferdinand - Huth - Taiwo
Johnson - Faurlin - Diakite - Taarabt
Cisse - Hooper.

Looks absolutely brilliant but wouldn't maybe want Gordon . These were on my dream list , depending on valuations? Hooper,Sigurdson or Dempsey,Johnson or Jarvis,Al Habsi or Foster And for a bit of young blood in defence Naughton or Caulker I think could get better and better ?

Not forgetting of course that Hughes is good at finding unknown talent from abroad and turning them into stars. Kompany, Dembele, Samba etc.
