Briatore...
"He saved the club from Administration and relegation and turned us into a promotion-chasing/Premiership Striveing club" vs "He's turning us into a 'boutique'; and destroying the QPR as family - supporters, players, staff"
He's obviously invested some of his own money in the club and via the refinanced/taken over ABC loan
(I'm not aware that he's getting a QPR salary. Anyone know?)
It's not his ability to raise ticket prices: I wouldnt say that was hard to do: Get fans to finance the cluib,
And it's not based on any proven expertise in how to spot a good footballer or to be a football manager. That's yet to be proven
Offhand would say be fair to give him credit for three or four major things:
1) Brought in the other investors: Ecclestone & Mittal - and the rumoured other investor
2) Brought in the big sponsors: Gulf, Lotto, the bank, maybe Kingfisher,
3) His personal "panache"/ Pr attention brings to the club.
Then on the micro level: For better or worse; the changes at Loftus Road especially for the higher class. Plus the new crest, uniform design...
Bringing in the players we got from Italy and Spain is presumably down to him.
Hiring good staff? Inspiring them? That remains to be seen at QPR
Obviously he's been blunt/outspoken/dismissive of individual fans. But equally obviously, that in of itself while perhaps not too nice on a personal level, could be responded to that being blunt etc might be necessary to achieve results. That he should be judged by what he has accomplished; not by waht he said; that "you can't make an ommellette (a quiche?) without breaking eggs, etc.
Have I left out anything major, on either side of the scale?
