But I imagine that's not because they think the fans won't turn up if we go down (cos could always have a smaller event). But because they don't want to be associated with failure; have to not be glorified, etc. I think that's a major shame and reflects very badly. On the ownership

For me, it's a no-brainer: You have it regardless of how we do.

Multi-tasking   But to be serious: It's not the biggest deal - but it's a little axiomatic of an approach of wanting to be loved (which most of us do!)...and then distancing form when things don't go right. So whereas in the past, even when had bad year - and we certainly had them - ownership didn't then cut and run from the board. So it will be easy come May, if we're promoted - especially automatically - to bask in the warmth of success... But if G-d forbid, we don't go up, should still be that end of season tribute.
