This appointment would have made more sense after Gregory/Harford. But now?Bookies slash odds on Warnock to be next QPR boss Thursday, 16 April 2009 South London Press By Richard CawleyCRYSTAL Palace boss Neil Warnock is being linked with the vacancy at Queens Park Rangers - and his odds on being the man to fill the Loftus Road hotseat have been slashed by one leading bookmakers. Victor Chandler have revealed that the experienced boss is now 4/1 third-favourite to succeed Paulo Sousa, who was axed by the west London side last week. And David Chandler, a spokesman for the bookmakers, told the South London Press there had been a flurry of bets on Warnock, initially at 16/1, in the past couple of days. He said: “It looks quite significant - people are opening accounts that aren’t existing clients and it would now be a five-figure loser for us.” www.southlondon-today.co.uk/tn/sport.cfm?id=15305&headline=Bookies%20slash%20odds%20on%20Warnock%20to%20be%20next%20QPR%20boss

Sousa went from not on any bookmakers list to being manager so I won't be surprised if the next manager isn't an expected one. Warnock has had to deal with Jordan so should be able to deal with Briatore but he's got a good thing at Palace so why leave it?
I would rather have Warnock on my side then against me so I wouldn't be displeased with him as a manager but would he give Briatore the football he wants to see?

And he's be a Dowie-type sell to the fans: Not someone they'd welcome with open arms. As I said, two years ago, such an appointment would have made a lot more sense.

If we want to get back to the prem, then its Warnock for me, ticks all the right boxes.

Thinking about it I think he would be a good choice. Ok he aint everyones cup of tea, ruffles the feathers of others ect...but He knows the championship, knows what works ect. He could be the one to stand up to FB or FB might even let him do the job as he had the experience and know how.....that in itself could be a real plus point. With the hope that GA stays on either as No2 or reserve coach, NW would certainly be someone worth learning from.
I can see only plusses to this for both short and long term, the question is will he take that gamble?

As Ingham would say he wins and therefore he is right. Actually he got a lot of patience at Sheffield Utd before he took them up and did better in the Prem than was expected (very unlucky with Tevez-gate). He is however someone I hope we could do better than.

Warnock also linked to Ipswich job (Doesn't seem like an Ipswich type manager - Maybe Norwich; but not Ipswich!)Warnock: No Ipswich contact Streatham Guardian By Graham Moody » Crystal Palace manager Neil Warnock has played down speculation linking him to the manager's job at Ipswich Town. Jim Magilton is expected to be sacked by the Tractor Boys after failing to guide them to at least the play-offs this season and Warnock was heavily touted as a possible replacement over the weekend. With Simon Jordan expected to sell the Eagles this summer, the Yorkshireman's Palace future could be under threat when new owners come in, but he insisted he has had no contact with Ipswich. "No they haven't contacted me," he said. "I won't be commenting on any speculation at all, it's all hypothetical.
"It was QPR last week, Ipswich this week and I won't be commentating even if it is Manchester United next week." www.streathamguardian.co.uk/sport/4307519.Warnock__No_Ipswich_contact/

My gut feeling is that he goes to town rather than us- if he goes anywhere, they have a billionaire owner in Marcus Evans (although none has a picture of him or knows who he is, a sort of Briatore alter-ego type!) they have also appointed a new c.e.o. this week and Magilton is under fire from the local press, so it all adds up to me.
