Should have put Alex on the witches hat so he would sign. Talks have stalled apparently, wonder if he'll be back today.

why would he want to come here to be totally honest? biggest drop any player would of taken in years, chelsea to qpr in one foul swoop. hes bound to be getting talked into by kia but trying his hardest to stall it and hope a better club comes in.

bet hes a 100% certain he could get a better offer though. i mean bartons trouble and hes on 80's, and swp is at his last ever prem club and whats he on? alex is still considered a top player coming from a top 2/3 club. too much of a drop for him i reckon, hence the delay.

I don't disagree with that mate, just why I think Samba is a better shout, seems to be the right sort of person and his sights are lower, clearly likes Hughes as well.

yeah deffo, sambas still naive, and hes going from crap to more crap and all he can see his pound signs to send back home to his rents. go all out for him and he would deffo come i reckon, alex thinks he is, and to be fair is too good for a bottom 3 club.

MH has got to sell him the belief though hasnt he? Any sort of head driven logic is going to make us second best so it has to be his heart MH appeals to and the chance to be in at the 'beginning'. I'm getting a bad feeling about all this. MH has had longer than NW did to make signings and hasnt made any. Those that ARE on the table were already mooted by NW anyway (well, some were). This is no criticism of MH or praising NW, its just an observation of where we are today and says a lot more about how difficult it is to convince players to move to an ailing club and to satisfy those parasites that hang on to them than it does about the relative merits of MH and NW. All been said before I know but there is at least some therapeutic value for myself in setting it out all over again.

Is it really that big a drop? Barton and SWP both did the same. Is he actually that good? Doesn't seem to make it into the scum team that often.......

In fairness, I think its a massive drop, Shaun Wright-Phillips & Joey Barton as much as they'd like to suggest otherwise wouldnt have had too many other options, I'd expect many, many clubs, including Champions League clubs to be interested in someone of Alex's stature. so why exactly would he come to QPR ? .....Ker-ching! Still rather £3.5 Million for Alex than get involved in any of this £7million nonsense for Samba, Samba isnt worth twice what Alex is worth, they are worth the same.

Barton was a regular at a top 6 team. SWP was at a top team, but not getting too many games, just like Alex.
Haven't seen to many of these top teams being mentioned re Alex.......

Given the number of them shown falling out of Nightclubs every week I totally agree. (And that doesn't even include the cost of fireworks and bathroom repairs.)

Alex has been an integral part of the Chelsea team for the last two or so years, Shaun Wright-Phillips has spent the last 6 or 7 years at Chelsea / man City as nothing more than a glorified ball boy & what top 6 team are you referring to regarding Joey Barton, Newcastle werent a top 6 team when he was there! Alex is a top player, undisputed Champions League level top performer.

Alex is good but there isn't a queue of top teams beating a path to his door.
The problem for a guy like Alex is that you have to be playing regularly to get those big clubs coming in for you.
Sounds like the wages are the issue, which is fair enough. We'd be asking him to take a pay cut by the sounds of it.
Its irrelevant how much he is being offered. Would you willingly take a pay cut when you could stay where you are and earn more?

We are chasing champions league players when we only need premier league players, trying to run before we can walk. We don't need that many, nor do we need to bankrupt the club in the process.

well its been 2 and abit days of talks, time to move on. our current defence are doing pretty good under hughes, conceded 1 goal in two games.
i think we should concentrat on wing backs and a midfielder along with a striker.

He is a fine player, I just hope we arent signing another player with the mentality of wanting to be somewhere else / thinking they are doing us a favour by signing for us, one would have hoped that we would have learnt our less by now, I fear that we do seem desperate to say the least. Although on the other hand, I feel that this signing would be even bigger in stature than the Joey Barton thing, for QPR, its an unbelievable signing. If he signs he will be on your hit list, anyone earning over 25k a week!
