Lewis is an interesting one and not one I think we neccessarily need. Considering that we are unlikely to name 4 keepers in the 25 man squad at the end of January who would then miss out Cerny or Murphy? Can Murphy really go from number 2 to number 4? Would Lewis really want to join if he wasn't going to be in the 25? TF and NW should be thinking of just trying to improve the first 11, which subsquently improves the squad. Buying squad players for the sake of it is silly. The next keeper we should buy should be better than Kenny and then he becomes the number 2 which overall would improve the keepers. Same as all the other positions. Ridgewell IMO is better than Gabbidon so would improve the centre of defence and Gabbidon is better IMO than Connolly which would mean the bench is strengthened. No point IMO spending money on a keeper who will be deemed 2nd choice at best - unlikely considering lack of experience and his previous injury record. Yaay return of the Pie!!!!

Ferguson seemed a pretty bitter man on Saturday evening, although he probably had some justification and what he was saying was possibly correct. Why go off to a clu for a trial when you are playing on the Saturdat, why look at a player in a trial when you can watch him in a real match on the Saturday. Difficult to argue with.

Assuming Cerny is fit, we sign Lewis now...Keep him off the 25...And then in the summer, Cerny moves on and Lewis becomes #3 (to start with)

taking a young keeper from a side who he is a proper regular to make him third or fourth choice is pointless to me. we aint man city, our funds arent that much of a bottomless pit. paddys back already, and to get rid of cerny in jan after those displays for a 21 year old is even more stupid than bringing in leon clarke and rob hulse.

But if he truly is a good player...And costing him little. We sign him now...And if We don't have in the 25 till next season, then surely we've done well.

Ferguson - Lewis deal a way off Posh boss upset at how story leaked out Peterborough boss Darren Ferguson admits the club are a long way off agreeing a new deal with Queens Park Rangers target Joe Lewis. Lewis is out of contract at the end of the season and Peterborough are considering selling him in January rather than risk losing him for nothing in the summer. As a result of Lewis' contract situation Peterborough allowed the goalkeeper to train with Queens Park Rangers last week ahead of a possible move in January. Lewis is set to link up with QPR this week again as they weigh up making a bid for the highly-rated custodian. News of Lewis' training stint at Loftus Road leaked out over the weekend and Ferguson admits he was disappointed at how the story emerged. Peterborough are keen to keep hold of the England Under 21 international, but Ferguson concedes contract talks have stalled. "As for Joe's future, we are talking to him because we want him to stay," said Ferguson. "But we are a long way apart in our negotiations at the moment. "We don't want to lose him for nothing, but it is very disappointing the news about Joe at QPR leaked out." www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,12874_7373048,00.html

Decision day over Lewis Peterborough United goalkeeper is back at Premier League outfit QPR this week for a continuation of his trial. Lewis spent four days at Rangers last week and played for the reserves in a 2-2 draw with Leyton Orient. He has travelled back to London to continue his trial this week and play in another reserve team game tomorrow [Tuesday 13th December, 2011]. QPR are expected to make a decision on whether to buy Lewis in January or decide against it. QPR first choice keeper Paddy Kenny could be out for two months with a calf injury and back-up Brian Murphy is also injured so the R's are looking to bring in another keeper. Posh boss Darren Ferguson is happy for Lewis to go to QPR but he is also keen to retain his services. Ferguson said: "It was a business decision to let him go to QPR so they could have a look at him, but picking him for the first team was entirely my decision and I did it for football reasons. "I have two goalkeepers good enough for the Championship and I felt the time was right last week to give Paul Jones a rest and for Joe to play. "As for Joe`s future, QPR rang us up and said they wanted to have a look at him. We didn`t see the harm in that, but I`m not sure about him going back there this week. "If they wanted to look at him again they could have come to the game at Leicester. "We are talking to Joe because we want him to stay, but we are a long way apart in our negotiations at the moment. "We have spent between £600,000-£700,000 on Joe so losing him for nothing at the end of the season is not what we want either. "It`s very disappointing the news about Joe at QPR leaked out, especially on the morning of a game, but we don`t seem to be able to keep quiet about anything at this club." www.peterborough.vitalfootball.co.uk/article.asp?a=265495#ixzz1gMTGvS1g

they'll be looking for 1.5-2 mill?
do we want that? if it was a good price then yes, but 2 mill out of our budget for a goalie i'm not sure.
i like the idea, but like it better in the summer when we have secured prem status

Pav agent in QPR claim Tottenham striker yet to consider prospect of move to Loftus Road Last Updated: December 13, 2011 7:36am

Roman Pavlyuchenko: Tottenham striker's agent claims the Russia international has been offered to QPR .Sky BetSky Bet are offering all new customers a £10 Completely Free Bet Claim your free bet now ....Roman Pavlyuchenko's agent claims Queens Park Rangers have been offered the chance to sign the Tottenham Hotspur striker in January.
The Russia international has made just two substitute appearances in the Premier League this season and has been linked with a move away from White Hart Lane in the New Year.
Lokomotiv Moscow want to take the 29-year-old back to Russia, while Spurs boss Harry Redknapp has suggested he will only let Pavlyuchenko go if he can find a replacement.
The forward's representative Oleg Artemov now says he has been offered to QPR, but Pavlyuchenko has yet to weigh up the merits of a move to Loftus Road.
"This is true that Tottenham have turned to QPR," Artemov told sovsport.ru.
"I know about it. The club has a right to do so as they have a contract with Roman.
"Before talking about it - if Roman wants to be a QPR player or not - we have to consider every detail. Roman hasn't thought about it yet."
Artemov also dismissed speculation that Spurs wanted to exchange Pavlyuchenko for Marseille striker Loic Remy and says he has not spoken to Redknapp about the situation.
"I've ready Harry's quotes," added Artemov. "It should be understood that Roman wasn't offered to QPR by the manager."

So his agent says Redknapp didn't offer him to QPR but Spurs did offer him to QPR. Is that levy going over Redknapp's head then? Doesn't make sense to me. Anyway, if it's Spurs, it's gotta be Defoe.

It's really annoying me that the only strikers we are now being linked with are over rated, over priced has beens

A cheap experienced forward to help keep us up would be great. But here we're talking as you say, expensive "has beens" (although that's a little harsh. But certainly not too much longer at the top) Also worrying we're being offered players...Is that like us offering Vine and Agyemang and Borrowdale and Pellicori and ....?

Completely agree with Rory and Mac on this one. Uncomfortable feeling setting in on this one. May spend 10m on a 'name' that wont in the end put in any more effort or achieve as much as the honest endeavour put in by HH. However, thats not to say that we shouldnt sign a competent forward, we should. Just who?

would rather sign defoe than getting both pav and zamora. less is more sometimes. it looks like every club knows we are prepared to splash out 10 mill to ensure our prem survuval. so all the agents are trying to offload anyone whos not happy at their club for that 10 mill. well thats how it looks in the daily mail anyway.

I think a loan would suit all parties personally.

Have to agree with Defoe loan for starters , then if we want youth sign Hooper if not Zamora but not near like ten million , i wouldnt want to spend more than 5 on Zamora really and i never want to see Pavchenko in a Hoops shirt .
