Roman Pavlyuchenko transfer hope renewed for Newcastle and QPR Roman Pavlyuchenko's agent has alerted Newcastle and QPR after revealing the Tottenham striker has still not agreed a deal to join Lokomotiv Moscow. . In limbo: Roman Pavlyuchenko (Picture: REXMAILPIX) ..The 29-year-old had reportedly signed off on personal terms with the Russian side, and was just waiting for Spurs to agree a fee. However, Pavlyuchenko's representative Oleg Artemov has given new hope to Rangers and the Magpies, who are both in the market for a new striker, by insisting, while there are offers on the table, nothing has yet been decided. ‘Roman has one-and-a-half years left on his contract with Tottenham,’ Artemov told Sport Express. ‘And who found out that it's Lokomotiv that has agreed anything with him? ‘He hasn't signed anything. There are more offers. We are learning, analysing and talking about them.’ When asked if Lokomotiv are the only Russian club to make an offer, Artemov replied: ‘It's not true. This is not the reality.’ Read more: www.metro.co.uk/sport/football/884148-roman-pavlyuchenko-transfer-hope-renewed-for-newcastle-and-qpr#ixzz1fsk7RYKi

Well he supports the Hoops why not QPR enter race for Birmingham's Ridgewell Published 21:00 08/12/11 By James Nursey . QPR have joined the chase for Birmingham’s Liam Ridgewell. The versatile left-sided defender is set to leave in January after requesting a transfer in August. He has West Brom, Stoke and Newcastle in the queue after all three bid for him last summer.

Clyne and Zaha. We should have gone in for them in the summer. How's Damage doing down at Sainsbury FC? Considering we were Freeman's first club, maybe he'll do us a deal and forget about Warnock walking out on them.

Jelavic and Zamora are both strikers, so surely it'd be one or the other but not both?
Think the Zamora one is more accurate.

QPR Ready £8m Bid for Tottenham's Unhappy Striker Tottenham forward Roman Pavlyuchenko will be handed the opportunity to remain in the Premier League should be leave Spurs in January as QPR hope to sign the Russian. The 29-year-old has struggled to force his way into the Tottenham first team this season with Jermain Defoe and Emmanuel Adebayor the preferred front two, while Rafael van der Vaart has often started up front ahead of Pavlyuchenko. The Russia international has declared that he would like to leave White Hart Lane in January in order to secure regular first team football and earn a place in the squad for Euro 2012. Lokomotiv Moscow have signaled their intent to bring the striker back to Russia, with some reports suggesting that he had already agreed to join the side. However, it seems no pre-contract has been agreed and QPR boss Neil Warnock is keen to offer him the opportunity to remain in England and prove his class. QPR have enjoyed a solid start to life in the top division but Warnock is aware that he will need to add some goals to his side in order to avoid relegation. It is believed that QPR would be willing to bid as much as £8million for the vastly experienced forward. www.sportsvibe.co.uk/news/football/qpr-ready-8m-bid-for-tottenham-s-unhappy-striker-14129/

It’s hard to imagine any footballer travelling to and from matches and training on two wheels, but that’s what Ridgewell did when he was coming through the ranks at the Hammers as a schoolboy. His father, Bob, who worked as a graphic designer in the centre of London, used to ferry him about on the back of his Honda. “Sometimes when I used to travel in, my dad would take me on his motorbike and then pick me up,” Ridgewell recalled. “Me and my mate also used to travel in his dad’s car up to the training ground, and then my dad would come from work and pick me up on his motorbike and we’d go back home through the Blackwall tunnel. “I think he had a Honda. At the time it used to get him to and from where we lived in Bexleyheath. “It probably wasn’t advisable to get to training that way. They weren’t too happy, West Ham, I think. But that was what it was like then. . “There’s an old kit man, Jimmy, who used to look after me at West Ham. He still mentions it now when I see him every time I go back down. “Jimmy and people at West Ham will say ‘are you still travelling on your old man’s motorbike’? “I say ‘no, I can’t do that nowadays’. He still thinks I’m riding on it, though.” It was an unconventional way to travel, but also a neccessity. And Ridgewell has not always gone to type. He decided to quit West Ham and join Villa’s youth set-up, quite a seismic decision to make for someone so young. “You were 14 when you went to schoolboy forms,’’ he said. ‘‘It got to the point where, at that age, I had looked at what was already in the team – you had Michael Carrick coming through, Joe Cole, Rio Ferdinand, Richard Garcia – and I thought it might be a time for a change. “I was a south London boy, grew up around there and had all my friends there. But I thought if I got away it might focus me a bit more. It was a tough decision. “I used to leave school early on a Friday afternoon to travel up to Villa for the weekends. “I used to get the bus from my house to the train station, get a tube from Charing Cross to Euston and a train from London up to Birmingham all on my own. “As a 14, 15-year-old kid doing that, it wasn’t easy. Especially getting on the tube. “I had a lot of people come round my house from West Ham trying to say ‘stay with us’ and things like that when it became clear I was thinking of moving. “My old man said it was up to me, what did I fancy doing? And I said I fancied a change. I liked the set-up Villa had.” Had things worked out differently and Ridgewell stayed put at West Ham, he could be locking horns with Barry Ferguson tonight. “I went there as a midfielder strangely enough,’’ he continued. ‘‘A central midfielder. Those were my days of trying to get forward and get goals. “I was a dogged midfielder. I was not one of those who put their foot on the ball and stroked it about. I tried to be, but it didn’t really come off. I was more of a goalscorer and someone who dug in.” Ridgewell was used more often than not at centre-half by Villa and Steve Bruce swooped to take him across the city in 2007 in a £2 million deal. After a fluctuating baptism at St Andrew’s, Ridgewell Read More www.birminghammail.net/birmingham-sport/birmingham-city-fc/birmingham-city-fc-news/2011/01/11/birmingham-city-s-liam-ridgewell-ready-for-west-ham-united-and-mickey-taking-97319-27962124/#ixzz1g4xboWnu

QPR boss Neil Warnock is looking to sign defender Liam Ridgewell from Birmingham. Ridgewell, who was born in Shepherd’s Bush, has also attracted interest from West Brom since Birmingham were relegated from the Premier League at the end of last season.

klr wont agree but i like the fact he is an rs fan, i think if there are players on the pitch who have the same feelings as us fans, then it can only help when things are not going well that we have a player who is as determined as can be to turn things round.

Would very much Ridgewell to sign.
Why Pav though?? Surely Hooper or Maynard would be cheaper??? SPurs fans don't think Pav is that good so why is he worth £8m?? Too old as well. That would make all our strikers 29 or over.

if he's fit he'd be a good choice...lots of upside www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2072371/Joe-Lewis-goes-undercover-earn-QPR-deal.html?Peterborough goalkeeper Joe Lewis played for Queens Park Rangers this week in order for Neil Warnock to scrutinise one of his January transfer targets' fitness. Lewis is out of contract in June and Peterborough are prepared to sell him next month but the 24-year-old has struggled after suffering a serious knee injury in last season's play-offs. He appeared for Rangers as 'A Trialist' in a behind-closed-doors friendly against Leyton Orient, which ended 2-2. Last weekend, Lewis had started his first Peterborough game of the season and was booed by some fans during a 4-3 defeat by Barnsley. He will start again against Leicester, according to Darren Ferguson, who is resting Paul Jones. The Peterborough boss said: 'I'm very lucky to have two good Championship goalkeepers. I don't know why some fans haven't taken to Joe.' Lewis joined Peterborough for £400,000 from Norwich in January 2008 and made an immediate impact. Within five months, he won his first England Under 21 cap and was called into the senior squad by Fabio Capello for friendlies against the United States and Trinidad and Tobago. Rangers boss Warnock needs cover because Paddy Kenny could be out for two months with a calf injury and back-up Brian Murphy is also injured.

QPR set to snap up Peterborough stopper Published 22:25 11/12/11 By MirrorFootball
Peterborough are set to lose highly-rated goalkeeper Joe Lewis to QPR when the transfer window opens next month.
Lewis spent last week training with the Premier League side, playing in a 2-2 friendly draw with Leyton Orient under the name ‘A Triallist’.
He started in Championship side Posh’s 1-1 draw with Leicester City on Saturday but is due to go back on trial in west London this week and Darren Ferguson will allow him to sign permanently in January.
Posh Director of Football Barry Fry said: “QPR manager Neil Warnock asked if they could take a look at Joe at close quarters and our manager and chairman agreed.
“He was there last week and will be going back there on Monday. That’s as far as it has gone.
“No offers have been made, but Joe is out of contract at the end of the season when we face losing him for nothing.”
England U21 international Lewis moved to London Road from Norwich for £400,000 pounds in January 2008 and has helped the club to three promotions.
Saturday’s appearance was Lewis’s second in seven months after suffering a knee injury in May.

Lewis is an interesting one and not one I think we neccessarily need. Considering that we are unlikely to name 4 keepers in the 25 man squad at the end of January who would then miss out Cerny or Murphy? Can Murphy really go from number 2 to number 4? Would Lewis really want to join if he wasn't going to be in the 25?
TF and NW should be thinking of just trying to improve the first 11, which subsquently improves the squad. Buying squad players for the sake of it is silly. The next keeper we should buy should be better than Kenny and then he becomes the number 2 which overall would improve the keepers. Same as all the other positions. Ridgewell IMO is better than Gabbidon so would improve the centre of defence and Gabbidon is better IMO than Connolly which would mean the bench is strengthened. No point IMO spending money on a keeper who will be deemed 2nd choice at best - unlikely considering lack of experience and his previous injury record.

Not yet done deal SKY Ferguson - Lewis deal a way off Posh boss upset at how story leaked out By Pete O'Rourke ....Peterborough boss Darren Ferguson admits the club are a long way off agreeing a new deal with Queens Park Rangers target Joe Lewis. Lewis is out of contract at the end of the season and Peterborough are considering selling him in January rather than risk losing him for nothing in the summer. As a result of Lewis' contract situation Peterborough allowed the goalkeeper to train with Queens Park Rangers last week ahead of a possible move in January. Lewis is set to link up with QPR this week again as they weigh up making a bid for the highly-rated custodian. News of Lewis' training stint at Loftus Road leaked out over the weekend and Ferguson admits he was disappointed at how the story emerged. Peterborough are keen to keep hold of the England Under 21 international, but Ferguson concedes contract talks have stalled. "As for Joe's future, we are talking to him because we want him to stay," said Ferguson. "But we are a long way apart in our negotiations at the moment. "We don't want to lose him for nothing, but it is very disappointing the news about Joe at QPR leaked out." www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,12874_7373048,00.html
