Recalled he scored this goal in the summer www.fanhouse.co.uk/2011/09/26/video-uae-player-famed-for-scoring-backheel-penalty-killed-in-c/ UAE Player Famous for Scoring Backheel Penalty Killed in Car Crash0 Awana Diab, the United Arab Emirates footballer who briefly became a YouTube sensation when he scored a backheel penalty against Lebanon (see video below) in July, has been killed in a car crash. Awana, 21, played for Baniyas in UAE. Reports state he was traveling to Abu Dhabi from Al Ain with his brother when the accident took place on Sunday. According to the Gulf News, Awana's funeral will be held on Monday. When Awana converted his cheeky penalty, FanHouse UK described it thus: "It wasn't the greatest backheel but the Lebanon keeper, presumably not enjoying the most memorable outing of his career, barely moved as the ball crossed the line." But there was more to Awana. Here's the Gulf News again: "Immensely talented, Awana was a member of the UAE under5-23 team that won the silver medal at the 2010 Asian Games in Guangzhou, China. "The highly-skilled Awana played a key role in Baniyas finishing as runners-up in the UAE Pro-League last season while he was also part of the UAE Under18 national team which won the 2008 AFC U-18 Cup in Dammam, Saudi Arabia which helped the UAE feature in the 2009 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Egypt, where he once again sparkled to take the UAE to the quarterfinals."
