Leeds United ban great-grandmother for Elland Road pitch invasion
• Margaret Musgrove, 63, given banning order • Leeds say fans were warned not to encroachLeeds United have defended their decision to ban a great-grandmother for a year for running on to the pitch at Elland Road. Margaret Musgrove, 63, was given an automatic ban by Leeds after she went on to the grass during the last game of the season in May. Mrs Musgrove, who says she has 13 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, was caught by TV cameras walking across the penalty area with her arms in the air at the end of the match against Burnley. She was grabbed by stewards and taken to holding cells but was not charged with any offence. She told the Yorkshire Evening Post: "It's not like I am a hooligan. People who do much worse than this get the same ban." Mrs Musgrove said she just got carried away, adding: "I just wanted to shout 'Lads, I love you'." A Facebook group has been set up to campaign for the ban to be lifted, called "Give Mags Musgrove Her Season Ticket Back Mr Bates" – directed at the Leeds chairman Ken Bates. But the club pointed out that fans had been repeatedly warned during the match to stay off the pitch. A spokesman said: "Mrs Musgrove encroached the grassed playing area despite repeated pleas throughout the game for people not to do so and it's club policy to suspend people who do this. "In excess of 30,000 fans abided by the message to please keep off the pitch. For a club suspension she is entitled to appeal, which she has done." www.guardian.co.uk/football/2011/jun/23/leeds-great-grandmother-pitch-invasion

Am I the only the only one who is thinking that being a great-grandmother at the age of 63 is quite an accomplishment.

I just saw her interviewed on Sky Sports and she says that she will accept her punishment. I do think it is a case of bureaucracy gone mad though. She didn't exactly knock anyone over on her way on to the pitch. If QPR banned all those who ran on the pitch on the final day, we would have a pretty small crowd next season ;D
