[Note he was NOT Manager at the time of the non-QPR game with Witney United Witney Gazette - Ex-football boss jailed for attacking wife 9:30am Saturday 18th June 2011 A WOMAN who had a glass smashed in her face by her husband admitted still loving him as he was jailed for 40 weeks yesterday. Former Witney United manager Darren Teggart, 43, left, was sentenced at Oxford Crown Court after jurors last month convicted him of assault causing actual bodily harm. Teggart, of Burwell Drive, Witney, pushed the glass into wife Katrina’s face as she was drinking on June 19 last year. She needed 16 stitches. Teggart has previous convictions for GBH against a man and two assault offences against Mrs Teggart. John Simmons, defending, said his client had received two text messages from his estranged partner yesterday morning reading “love you and always will” and “love you”. The 44-year-old nurse, who is in the process of divorcing her attacker, last night denied sending the messages and said she had deleted his number. Of the sentence she added: “I was expecting it to be more but I just hope that he gets some sort of help more than anything.” She added: “And yes I do still love him. And I always will. “But I know I have done the right thing. “It’s my family and friends who have helped me to stay strong.” Judge Mary Jane Mowat imposed an indefinite restraining order on Teggart. The Oxfordshire domestic abuse helpline is on 0800 731 0055. www.witneygazette.co.uk/news/wgheadlines/9092339.Ex_football_boss_jailed_for_attacking_wife/

Looking at the Witney Official Site, I see that they had Richard Hill (he of China Brawl fame) as their manager for a while last season (Often wondered what happened to Hill).www.witneyunited.co.uk/firstteam/default.htmlWITNEY OFFICIAL SITE - 28.01.11 UNITED APPOINT NEW BOSS!!Former Didcot Town coach Richard Hill has been appointed as the new manager at Uhlsport Hellenic League Witney United. In his playing days Hill turned out for Nuneaton Borough (1984-85), Northampton Town (1985-87) Watford (1987) and Oxford United (1987-91) as a striker-cum-midfielder. Towards the end of his playing career, Hill played, with great success, at Witney Town under United’s General Manager Andy Lyne. Since retiring from playing the vastly experienced Hill has been assistant manager to John Gregory at both Wycombe Wanderers and Queens Park Rangers, Brian Little at Aston Villa and Tranmere Rovers, Martin Wilkinson at Northampton Town, Andy Hessenthaller at Gillingham, and was first team coach at Reading. He has also coached at Swindon Town, scouted for Derby County and managed Stevenage Borough. In June 2010 Hill was appointed technical advisor to the Ethiopian national team and has been working with them during the African nations qualifying games. It has also been confirmed that Duncan Colwell who had been in the Caretaker Manager role has decided to remain with the club and will be Hill's Assistant Manager. Hill's opening game tomorrow sees him take United to high flying Wantage Town and is missing several players for what is a tough opener for the new boss. Unavailable for tomorrow's match are Vinny Byfield, James Lambert, Matt Blenford and Tom Smith whilst Sean McKeon, Lewis Colwell and Jason Smith all miss out with injury. WITNEY OFFICIAL SITE 11.05.11 HILL DEPARTS UNITED!! It is with much regret that Witney United have to announce the departure of manager Richard Hill. The reason for this is purely financial and the fact that there is no money for a playing budget next season, something Richard felt put him in an impossible position. General Manager Andy Lyne said “ Hilly worked with no budget this season, he came in, pulled us up by our boot strings and got the players performing to their maximum. We are indebted to him for the work he put in and for helping us maintain our Premier Division status. For me personally this is a massive disappointment as Hilly played for me and coached for me back in the day and it has been really great working together again.” Applications in writing along with a full CV are invited. Please apply to: Andy Lyne, General Manager, Witney United Football Club, Downs Road, Witney, Oxon OX29 7WT. Closing date is Friday 27th May 2011

And since the thread mentions Witney.... Flashback... It was over the Witney game (and the fact that I contacted Witney to inform them that their game was off. Yes it was I who told Witney, not the club!) that I was accused of stabbing QPR in the back. And who made that accusation? I don't think it would be hard to guess, if you didn't already know! QPR REPORT Saturday, April 28, 2007 Witney United Chairman Comments Re QPR- To state the obvious, QPR stated on their Official Site, April 12 that there was no game rescheduled and they had been in contact with Witney to ensure they knew this. Witney United Chairman, Steve Lake Posting on the Witney United Messageboard, April 27 It would have been marvelous if anyone from QPR had ever rung, wrtten, faxed or text me - but no that kind of respect obviously does not exist. Yes Richard Hill did arrange this game - but many more people, well paced in the Club (I say it this way not to upset them) knew very well that this game was on. As a non-league and league fan I can name many QPR players that came straight out of the non-league scene from around London (certainly two of their best known players came from that route via Watford) and so I would have thought that QPR would have a little more respect - one day I may actually get a 'Sorry' from the big boys of West London. Witney United Messageboard And Updated Messages From Witney United Chairman - April 28, 2007
Re: QPR MATCH OFF!!! (SteveLake)Can I just state that no official from QPR has ever contacted me with respect to this match - Shame on QPR for even stating so!.... Can I just state that NO COMMUNICATION FROM QPR HAS EVER BEEN RECEIVED BY MYSELF, THE CLUB OR ANTONE ELSE FROM QPR. Just a case of poor manners - not least to say a totaly fabrication. If 'Shelia' would like to conact me - along with the 'Ian' mentioned at the fans Forum then I would be happy to let them them know what damage they have do to this club.Witney United Messageboard NB: QPR OFFICIAL SITE - APRIL 17 QPR Officially Announce Witney Friendly is Cancelled -QPR OFFICIAL SITE - WITNEY FIXTURE The Club can confirm that our friendly fixture against Witney United has been cancelled. R's Club Secretary Sheila Marson today (Tuesday) informed Witney Chairman Steve Lake that the match they had scheduled for Monday 30th April will not be going ahead. The match had been arranged with R's Assistant Manager Richard Hill, who has since been suspended by the Club in the wake of his involvement in a behind closed doors match in February. At no stage was our Secretary made aware of this fixture and with QPR Reserves entertaining Crystal Palace in the Pontins Holidays Combination League at Harlington on the same day, it would have been impossible to field two teams on the same day, especially in the week leading up to the final League match of the season. Chairman Gianni Paladini is hugely disappointed with remarks made not only against him, but the Club in general, as he too was also unaware of the fixture until he was notified at a recent Fans Consultative meeting QPR See Also: QPR Report - The "History" of QPR's Non-Game vs Witney United - History qprreport.blogspot.com/2007/04/history-of-qprs-non-game-vs-witney.htmlqprreport.blogspot.com/2007/04/witney-united-chairman-comments-re-qpr.html
