Derby TElegraphHalpin catches the eye at Rams YOUNG Torquay United winger Saul Halpin has impressed Derby County.
The 19-year-old played as a triallist for Derby's Reserves on Tuesday and scored a hattrick in a 7-1 victory over Nottingham Forest Reserves."To score a hat-trick in any football is good but we were as impressed with the goal he made second half, when he went past two or three defenders and set up Tomasz Cywka," said Clough. "We will have a chat with (Torquay manager) Paul Buckle and see what their thoughts are on him." Halpin is a product of the youth system at Torquay and he has made four appearances as a substitute for their first team. He recently signed a three-year contact extension with the League Two club and trained with Queens Park Rangers earlier this season.Halpin's Torquay team-mate, 21-year-old defender Lathaniel Rowe-Turner, also played for Derby's reserves against Forest. www.thisisderbyshire.co.uk/sport/Halpin-catches-eye-Rams/article-3394818-detail/article.html
