Bad memories coming back from that game I taped that game [ as i was at Wembley ] and to this day have never watched the recording. Have never seen a team freeze the way we did on that day.

When you think what we did in the earlier rounds to get there. Was no picnic: Hull, Watford, Nott F, Chelsea, Liverpool - And those last four were good clubs in those days!

Lucky me , was working in states and could not get back, and I was still recovering from losing FA cup
I doubt if I could see our next one unless for the second half with a thee goal lead.
Still do have the signed program from family and friends for what thats worth.

I see that Phillips was in the Oxford team, and there are those on this board who say that we should get him on loan for the remaining games.

Relive the Milk Cup Final 25 years onPosted on: Tue 29 Mar 2011 Believe it or not, it's now 25 years since Oxford United's famous victory in the Milk Cup Final at Wembley in front of more than 90,000 fans. Goals from Trevor Hebberd, Ray Houghton and Jeremy Charles sealed a comprehensive 3-0 victory over QPR and saw Malcolm Shotton lift the trophy in front of tens of thousands of our fans. To celebrate the anniversary of arguably the club's finest hour, Oxford United will be holding a 25th Milk Cup Final anniversary at the home match with Chesterfield on Saturday, 23rd April. A number of players who etched themselves into the club's history on that day in London will be attending the match, be presented to the crowd before the game and have lunch with supporters. Trevor Hebberd, Malcolm Shotton and Les Phillips, who all played in the game will be in attendance, along with members of the squad from that time including Neil Slater and Steve Hardwick. Other players are expected to confirm at a later date. Supporters are urged to dig out their replica shirts, scarves and banners and create a great atmosphere for the clash with Chesterfield. To mark the occasion, the whole match will be shown on a big screen in The Spires Suite at the stadium. Fans can relive the day by enjoying a cottage pie and selected vegetables lunch, meeting the players and watching the game. For only £12.00 for Adults and £8.50 for Under 11's, supporters can: • Watch the game on a big screen. • Enjoy a meal. • See Peter Rhoades-Brown host the event. • Enjoy a Milk Cup Final Players Q & A session after the match. • Take advantage of a Cash Bar. • Arrive for 11.45am with the Match Coverage starting at 12pm. Peter Rhoades-Brown said: "This should be a fantastic occasion with many of the former heroes of '86 returning to the club to relive that famous day on our first ever trip to Wembley. "We hope as many as possible will make the effort to come and meet the players and share in a few memories of that momentous victory." To purchase your tickets visit the ticket office or call 01865 337533. No tickets can be purchased on the day. www.oufc.co.uk/page/News/0,,10342~2325548,00.html

Wang Computers - remember them? I think that name disappared within a couple of years.
Some very bad memories crop up whenever I hear "Oxford United".
I was doing military service in SA when we got to the final - in fact it was only thanks to somebody in the same company who knew I was an Rs fan that I found out that we had drawn at Anfield to reach the final (as you would expect it was all rugby and nothing else in those days in the SA Army so it was a rarity to find a fellow football fan - and even more amazing somebody who had heard of QPR). Considering that I was expecting a heavy defeat you can imagine my surprise and joy - and my fellow platoon guys just didn't get it.
Anyhow I was on weekend pass during the final and seeing I was expecting it to be a formality I was quite p*ssed off to discover that the SABC would not be televising the game. In hindsight it was the best thing that could have happened. I was glad we had reached the final but after seemingly done all the hard work to get there, we made a complete dogs breakfast of it in the final.
I heard the highlights on BBC World Service after the game and I couldn't believe how crap we were on the day. A total anti-climax to what should have been the best day as an Rs fan. Losing the FA Cup final 4 years earlier had nothing on this - at least we did our best then. When I returned from leave it was difficult to explain what had happened - even my fellow platoon mates had worked out that this was a huge event for me. I just said I couldn't believe it - like many Rs fans I just thought all we had to do was pitch up and the trophy was ours for the taking.
Having said that Oxford did have some very good players at the time - but really, we should have beaten them. In hindsight beating them 4-1 at our place a few weeks earlier did us no favours - it was probably when the complacancy started and when Oxford vowed to get us back.
Not so long ago I held a survey on the official site for fans to name their worst moment of supporting QPR - no surprise this game won hands down.
Funnily enough it was another Oxford game that I have memories of for all the wrong reasons. On a Friday night in early Dec 1997 we went down to their ground in a Div 2 clash (not sure what it was called then) in a match that was supposed to revive our spluttering promotion campaign against a team who had not been paid in weeks and a club that was basically on the verge of collapsing.
Ray Harford was the boss and I still had illussions of us getting promoted. They showed ther game down here and to be blunt we were lucky to lose 3-1 on the night. It was an abysmal performance and that was the moment that the lights went on - I knew then that we were in for a long hard struggle in this league. The commentator still felt we had a chance afterwards, but I knew otherwise; we were in big trouble - and that is how it turned out in the end.
No offence to any Oxford fan but I was quite glad to see them getting relegated to NL football. They are now back in the league but I just pray that we never meet them again.

Wang computers were up there with Digital as good machines. Sadly they never kicked on as they should have - like Macs did.
