Queens Park Rangers launch Ealing football training scheme Friday 11th March 2011 Queens Park Rangers are launching a new football training scheme in Ealing tomorrow. Youngsters from the borough can enjoy expert training from the club’s coaches in a free ‘Football Fun Day’ where they can take part in penalty shoot-outs and skills sessions. Coaches from the Championship leaders will also supervise the day's mini-tournament, which will start at 10am in Lamass Park. Dominic Rice, Will to Win Ealing’s Sports Manager, said: “I’m very excited to be linked with QPR. All the local kids are going to have a great time." Peter Ramage will also take part in the activities, answering questions, and presenting trophies. Tomorrow’s activities are the start of the partnership between Will to Win and QPR's Community Trust. Four coaches from the club will be involved regularly in training sessions for local youngsters on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturday mornings. Dave Robinson, QPR's Football Outreach manager, said: "We will see the potential stars of the future here, and we'll see them first. "The Community Trust is an integral part of the club, from the grass roots to the centre of excellence. “We're interested in getting people from all backgrounds, and one of our targets is to encourage social inclusion." Will to Win is a company that provides sports facilities in five boroughs in London. It aims to make its facilities accessible to all, providing free access to children at certain times, although some sessions with QPR’s coaches will cost £6. www.ealingtimes.co.uk/news/8905594.Queens_Park_Rangers_launch_Ealing_football_training_scheme/

Will to Win and QPR in partnership at fun dayQPR defender Peter Ramage met young football players and fans as he helped launch the new partnership between Queens Park Rangers Community Trust and Will to Win Ealing. The new partnership kicked off with a Kids Football Fun Day at Will to Win’s community sports centre at Lammas Park, Ealing on Saturday. “It’s nice for me to come and be able to support what the QPR Community Trust is doing with Will to Win Ealing and to meet the next generation of QPR fans,” said Ramage, 27, who is off the pitch at the moment while he recovers from a knee injury. “It’s hard being injured but it does give you a chance to come to events like this and see kids getting out and about and involved in activities, playing football and generally just enjoying themselves.” Families from all over the borough flocked to Will to Win Ealing on Saturday morning and took part in a range of fun football activities, including ‘crossbar challenge’, penalty shoot-outs, a five-a-side tournament and a free prize draw. The day marked the start of a new partnership which will see QPR bring its coaching expertise to Will to Win Ealing’s extensive kids’ football programme. QPR’s Football Outreach Development Officer Dave Robinson was delighted with the Kids Day and relished the chance to see so many local youngsters showing off their football skills. “Ealing has always been an area where the Club has had good support and we’re looking to build that even further through working with Will to Win,” said Robinson. “Our whole objective here is to build a stronger link with Will to Win and the Borough of Ealing. We’ve got a good fan base down here and we want to engage kids of all ages and eventually work with some adults as well – which is something we’ve been successful at in other areas.” Will to Win Director Steve Riley was equally enthusiastic. “It was a fantastic day for everyone and that’s exactly what Will to Win is all about – bringing top level sport to the community and making it accessible to everyone,” he said. “The partnership with QPR is going to allow us to bring professional coaching to Ealing’s kids and it’s great that we were able to celebrate that with such a successful day.” www.ealingtoday.co.uk/default.asp?section=info&page=evqpr001.htm

HARROW TIMES Arc Academy's new school football pitch opened by FA chairman David Bernstein 2:20pm Monday 14th March 2011 By Jack Royston » A SCHOOL'S new £600,000 artificial grass football pitch was opened by the new chairman of the FA today. Pupils trained on the hi-tech synthetic field at Arc Academy, in Bridge Road, as David Bernstein, head of the Football Association, watched on and even joined in for a kick about. He said: “Anyone who play here must surely be inspired by the fantastic view of Wembley Stadium, the home of English football. “It's a great privilege to view this stadium which has been funded by our investment with the Football Foundation.” Delia Smith, heateacher of the secondary school, said: “It's a fantastic facility under the arch of Wembley Stadium. It's Arc under the arch. “They've got one of the best facilities going.” The foundation, which draws money from a variety of sources, pumped £229,136 into the project, with the rest coming as part of a government grant through the recently axed Building Schools for the Future programme. Coaches from Queens Park Rangers (QPR) were also at the event, training pupils as part of a scheme that will see them visit the grounds twice a week. They will give a one hour session each to boys and girls, teaching them skills and keeping a look out for up and coming talent. Michaela Johnson, 12, a year seven at the school, has already had trials and has been invited back to show off her skills a second time. She said: “We used to play on concrete so we like to play on grass. Arc Academy really care for the sports so that's good because I like sports. “I would like to be a professional footballer. QPR is a great team.” www.harrowtimes.co.uk/news/8908179.School_s_football_pitch_opens_in_the_shadow_of_Wembley_Stadium/

Ealing Gazette/Yan Tear 16 March 2011: Ealing sports centre teams up with QPR EALING’S Will to Win sports centre at Lammas Park has hooked up with QPR’s Community Trust to bring what the hosts say will be ‘top level coaching’ to youngsters. The partnership was launched at a special free Family Football Fun Day at the Will to Win centre on Saturday, with football training camps and drop-in sessions planned for the centre’s two state-of-the-art five-a-side pitches. As part of the partnership, the club will be rolling out their brand new Football Outreach Development programme. "To work in partnership with Will to Win is a major boost for us as it gives us an opportunity to forge stronger and deeper connections in another borough of West London where QPR is at the heart of the community," said QPR Football Outreach development manager Dave Robinson. "We have a large fan base in the area and we will be working closely with them as well as other members of the community to showcase what we can offer to them. "We will be coaching kids as young as three up to the age 15 over a range of different projects. We are expanding as a club and this is another example of this." Will to Win director Steve Riley said: "QPR has so much to offer Ealing’s kids in terms of coaching and football expertise. "With QPRís help we can reach out even further to local kids from all backgrounds and hopefully get them off the sofa, away from the computer games and outside running around instead." www.ealinggazette.co.uk/sport/football-ealing/2011/03/16/ealing-sports-centre-teams-up-with-qpr-64767-28349638/
