hi all, 1st time poster. just found out about neil here and am so gutted to hear this. i was neils milk boy when he worked for unigate delivering to the wormholt estate about 30 years ago. lost touch with him years ago but will always remember the laughs we had back then- arm punching competitions on the milk float (missed his arm once and broke his jaw!), going to places like shrewsbury, derby, luton and loads more in his old orange mk1 capri. missed most of the last year at school going out on the round with him and earning a few bob, and after work going to wichever pub took his fancy! got 2 tickets for the 81 cup final and gave one to neil, we were behind the goal ricky villa scored that goal not thinking we'd be there a year later!the milk float covered in qpr flags the week before we played spurs even got a photo in the acton gazette. so many stories to tell about the daft things we got up to, got tears in my eyes now so going to finish. the only thing left to say is i was a qpr supporter before i met neil but he made me the qpr supporter i am today. love you mate, going to have a large scotch and coke tonight cos i'll always remember you drinking it. condolences to neils family. alan sweeney, stinkerbell to you!

Classic Scooterist! Welcome to the site. You made me laugh although I fear Neil wasn't laughing with a broken jaw.

I am very sorry to hear this even though I never met or knew Neil however he was a fellow a supporter and from reading some of his contributions here seemed like a good and decent guy. By not even making an issue of his illness on this site right to the end strikes me as someone who wasnt looking for sympathy or wallowing in self-pity.
Its a young age to die and my thoughts are with his family and friends at this very sad time. RIP.

londonranger I remember her getting off somewhere but not sure where but the driver would always stop for many people on the way back, something that I guess they rarely do nowadays. I also remember that we used to stop off at some pub during the journey to games. It was the same pub just off the motorway and I used to watch people play pool. I cannot remember the name or exactly where it was but we stopped there on many occasions. I cannot believe it’s 24 years ago?

Although I didn't know Neil, it seems typical from the posts, here and elsewhere, that his knowledge of the R's and the time, courtesy and friendship that he extended to his fellow supporters was without equal.

Hiya Becky, I'm the guy from New Zealand that was ringing him. I hope you are keeping well and the kids too. Your husband made a immediate and big pleasant impression on pretty much everyone he met in person or via the Internet. Hence his memory is cheerished and hopefully honoured.

Must've looked funny on our cameras at work, I was doing my job, looked at my watch and stood still for a minute to pay him respect and reflect, then carried on. Funny because of the job I was doing. I hope/think Neil would have had a laugh and called me a silly sausage or something like that.

This on WATRB by "Hammer" (I imagine and hope that there will be other accounts as well" "I went to Neils funeral yesterday.as you can imagine it was an extremely sad occassion for everyone present. There was alot of people there and it was a great send off for him which he richly deserved.extremely emotional tributes from Neils wife becky and his 2 daughters hayley & claire. Also speeches from Neils dad jack and his father in law Nick. His young son charlie was there with a QPR scarf. The service was excellent.Neil has a beautiful family.lovely people. There was a healthy contingent of RRSSSS fans there a few who post on here. After the service we all went back to the plough inn pub in broomfield, which was a pub Neil frequented, where his family all sported QPR shirts in honour of thier beloved Neil.Joe hylton gave a tremendous speech in true joe style on behalf of the RRSSS fans present.I`m sure joe will post about yesterday in he`s own unique and brilliant detailed way..As i say a very sad day for us all but a fitting tribute and farewell to our dear friend...NEIL GRAHAM ROBERTS... REST IN PEACE NEIL.. www.wearetherangersboys.com/forum/showthread.php?t=91423&page=2

I did not know Neil Roberts personally but at the time this was all very sad and tragic news.
On reflection I may have some sort of tenuous conection though. I understand Neil was brought up in Nasmyth Street Hammersmith W6...I lived at Number 47 as a baby and toddler from 1948 to 1952 and my aunt(and up to his death in 1956 my grandfather) resided in the upstairs of that same house until circa 1985...After we moved out I made many revisits to the street over the years to call on my Aunt(Dorothy Lambert)
Did Neil ever live in Nasmyth Street and if so what number?

Of course his uncanny predictions on the League put him so far ahead that year, he won going away
and no one could catch him. Thats when decided to name the League after him and have sustained that name over the years with Macs support.

Losing Neil was bad enough, still not over that, losing Gramps has hurt just as much. It's just left me feeling very down. I miss them both very much.
Whilst at it, can anyone please provide an up on Harry? (HAQ)

Bump. 5 Years....
It is kind of strange. Few of us have met or are likely to meet in person. Or know much about each other. And that is how boards go.
But we do kind of get to know each other - at least a part of each other.
RIP...Robbo
