Yahoo Abbott bemoans Borrowdale red Carlisle boss Greg Abbott was unhappy with the decision to send off Gary Borrowdale in the 1-0 defeat at Southampton. The on-loan QPR defender was shown a second yellow card for a foul on Alex Chamberlain, and moments later the Saints winger set up Rickie Lambert's first-half winner for the hosts. "We've got a lot of honesty and determination in the camp and we've come to a tough place and up against the odds," said Abbott. "To go down a man the way we did was tough, but I thought second half my players answered all the questions asked of them. "It was a foul, but its not a sending-off and it rocked us for those few minutes. We feel a little hard done by to be honest. "I will never speak to the referee again, ever. By the time I get to speak to him, there will be every reason for it to be a sending off because they will have had the time to make their argument." uk.eurosport.yahoo.com/12022011/63/abbott-bemoans-borrowdale-red.htmlAlso Carlisle Manager Q&A www.carlisleunited-mad.co.uk/roll/ed15/greg_abbott_on_the_southampton_defeat_645738/index.shtml

I saw Borrowdale got sent off , which was a shame from our point of view because it looked like until that point Carlisle were frustrating the Saints .
As I said in my previous post he is a good defensive no frills L1 Left back and he also looked like he could cope in the CCC , but I would bow to you guys opinion on that one .
Once I read that Dowie signed him on high wages it made sense . Between him and Pardew they took Charlton from being a 'model' Premiership club to League 1 and the brink of administration.
It is also interesting how one manager can fancy a player only for him to be completely disregarded by his successor which appears to be what happened here twice Dowie to Sousa and then Hart to Warnock .
Towards the end of his spell with us , Warnock wanted to look at him and at one point was going to implement a recall clause but fortunately you managed to get to safety which ensured he could stay at the Valley . Warnock then watched him personally at least twice during the play off run in .
There is a wider issue also as Markqpr says which is the bank balance versus playing regularly , I'm sure Borrowdale would want to maintain his match fitness levels which ultimately is what would earn him a contract with whoever the season after next , otherwise his overall career would end early .
