The English game has been blessed by a plethora of top marksman who have made a wealthy living out of putting the ball in the back of the net.

The likes of Ruud van Nistelrooy and Fernando Torres have lived up to their hefty price tags, providing goal after goal for fans of English football to drool over.

On the flip side, a number of goalscorers who have been heralded abroad - for instance Hernan Crespo and Andriy Shevchenko - have not proved value for money with regards to hitting the back of the net.
