Patrick van Aanholt tipped to become the next Ashley Cole for Chelsea Fulham Chronicle - Nov 25 2010 By Jacob Murtagh PATRICK van Aanholt is the next Ashley Cole in the making, according to one of his Chelsea team-mates. The Dutch defender made just his second start for the Blues in Tuesday night's Champions League win against MSK Zilina, putting in an assured display at left-back. The 20-year-old spent loan stints at Coventry and Newcastle last season, but has been tipped to emulate Chelsea star Cole in years to come. Striker Daniel Sturridge said: "He's Ashley Cole in the making. The way he plays is unbelievable. He bombs on, and in the 90th minute he's still getting forward getting crosses in and earning corners for the team. "There's not many left-backs around the country or in the world who do that. He's got a lot of energy, and is a very good player." Do any of these players that are "tipped" to be the next <insert current star player> ever reach that potential?

I did actually keep an eye on him on Tuesday night and i thought he looked decent going forward but very shaky at defending. They managed to get in behind him time after time in the first half.
