FOOTBALL LEAGUE
STAT ATTACK - FORM GUIDE
Posted on: 19.11.2010
A look at the form guide stats earlier on this season didn't provide too many surprises, positions in the league table replicating the respective form of sides. A new look at the form guide in the Football League though points to the sides who may be starting fall off the pace after promising starts. We are also seeing some of the early strugglers starting to make up vital ground.
npower Championship
Cardiff City top both the league and form guide table. The Bluebirds were shocked by neighbours Swansea City two weeks ago, but that is the only reverse in a run of six matches. Dave Jones has guided his side to four wins and a draw in the other fixtures.
Swansea City and Leicester City are the Championship's other form sides with identical records to that of Cardiff. Sven-Goran Eriksson's return to English football already looks to be paying dividends at the Walkers Stadium.
There must be something in the East Midlands air at the moment because Derby County and Nottingham Forest find themselves amongst the current teams in form. Nigel Clough has led Derby to four victories in six, whilst his old club are doing pretty well under the stewardship of Billy Davies. Forest have won three and drawn two of their last six.
In terms of surprises many would not expect 22nd place Bristol City to be amongst the division's in-form sides, a look at the stats though reveals that Keith Millen's men have accrued 11 points from six matches.
After an incredible start second placed Queens Park Rangers have slowed a little in recent weeks, Neil Warnock's men have just one win in six, drawing the other five.
Preston North End, Millwall and Watford all find themselves sharing the bottom three places in the current form guide with identical records. They have all managed just a solitary win and a draw in their last six matches. Millwall and Watford both find themselves slipping down the table whilst Darren Ferguson's side prop it up.
