Edit a year... Ex-QPR & England Goalie, Chris Woods Turns 52 Born November 14, 1959, Woods was signed by Tommy Docherty from Nottingham Forest for 250,000 pounds - before he'd played a League game (although he had played a League Cup Final), Woods played a season and a half for QPR before Terry Venables sold him on to Norwich - probably Venables' biggest transfer mistake he made at QPR. (Venables then went out and bought John Burridge: Good but no England Goalie). After QPR, Woods played 43 times for England. QPR Coach Keith Curle Turns 48 en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Keith_Curle

Ron Hunt's one and Only Goal for QPR
Forty-one Years ago, November 14, 1970: QPR Center Half, Ron Hunt, one of QPR's Heroes in their League Cup Win, scored his one and only goal for QPR (in some 250 games), in QPR's 1-1 draw at Sheffield United. (A QPR team, managed at the time by Les Allen, which contained Mike Kelly and Barry Bridges and Terry Venables, Martyn Busby, Rodney Marsh and so on). And a Sheffield United team, with Tony Currie. - - re Ron Hunt - QPR's (small) Center Half/Center Back Born December 19, 1945. Hunt made his debut in December 1964 and played some 200+ games for QPR until 1972-3 when he forced to retire with a knee injury at 29. But of all his games, he is perhaps most famous for his role in QPR's third and winning goal in the 1967 League Cup Final when he collided with the WBA Goalie. (or as described in Wikipedia "In a fairy tale 2nd half, the underdogs stormed back.... In the closing minutes QPR centre half Ron Hunt went on a forward run and as he challenged the keeper for the ball it ran loose to Mark Lazarus to score the winning goal. -

Chris Woods was under appreciated by Venables. As you said, El Tels biggest mistake was in selling him.
