Cambridge United's Miller positive following surgery
Miller has made just five appearances for the U's
Cambridge United midfielder Adam Miller says he is staying positive despite facing a lengthy lay-off following ankle surgery.
Miller, 28, suffered ligament damage in the U's win over Eastbourne in August.
He told BBC Radio Cambridgeshire: "I think early signs are showing that it's going really well given it was pretty much an entire reconstruction.
"They've got movement out of it and they've cast my foot at 45 degrees, which is great."
The former QPR and Stevenage man made the move to the Abbey Stadium in June after being released by Gillingham.
He suffered the injury just five games into his U's career after going in for a challenge with Eastbourne's Danny Brown.
"I was out for almost a month where I wasn't responding to what the scan was saying and was able to run on the ankle despite the injury, which was really confusing," added Miller.
It was eventually decided that the former Ipswich trainee required reconstructive surgery, which took place in September.
Miller would like to be back in action before the end of the season, but has admitted that it may be a tough ask.
He continued: "I've said to the boys, 'you do the rest and I'll come on and make a cameo at Wembley in the play-off final.'
"But I'm not too sure, as although I'm quick healer I don't think I'm that quick."
"Nobody wants to have to wait a year to show what you can do at a club, but there's nothing I can do about that.
"It's a killer to let down a new club, a new manager and new fans, but I will eventually do well for Cambridge."
