"Double double"? Four pies? You fat bugger! I went with two mates back in November. By Double Double I mean double pie & double mash, not four pies. £7 is way too much for a so called working class dish, that would just leave a bad taste in the mouth, but I suppose rents are tough in a "fashionable" area like that. Also dont like all this gravy in the pies rubbish that you get in too many Pie & Mash shops nowadays, if I wanted all that, I'd go and get some Pies from the supermarket. Authentic Pie & Mash Pie has no gravy in it, just the mince & the juice IMO anyone agree with me on that front ? Hard to find the real deal Pie & mash nowadays, very sad sign of the times.

As I started this thread I thought I would post a photo from 1903 with people catching a tram outside Cookes. Just to highlight again how long it's been in the Bush. Attachments:

If only we could go back to times like that! Life was so much simpler. But we'd have to have the internet with us.

As I say, went in November with some mates on a non-match day, treated us like saints. Price left a litte to be desired but we all loved it. Ended up drinking our way to Turnham Green.
And 'm sorry 'bout the drunk Irish guy with the milk the week before.

Seven quid for two pies, mash, peas and liquor, outrageous!!! After all, you can get a burger and chips for twelve quid in the Adelaide! Whatever happened to saveloy and peas pudding?

We went in before the game yesterday and a double has now gone up to £8 and even my meal of a single pie with double mash set me back £5
