Seems like Parkes was with us then, that didnt look like him in goal or am i wrong? Just how hard everybody worked in those days and Thomas' pace and accuracy and the positioning of Bowles.

Phil - G-d - Parkes was with us since August 1970 (Of course at same time, Wolves also had a goalie called Phil Parkes)

Me too. Didn't see you, Bman! ;D Those were the days - Dave Thomas was a class act on his own. I have had recent dialogue with Ron Phillips concerning my book and he tells me that Dave was one of the nicest blokes you could meet. He loved his football which was one of his main passions in life. The other was growing tomatoes and Ron tells me he and Dave had many conversations after a game about the best fertilisers to use. What wouldn't I give to have a Stan Bowles playing for us now. We would be on at least 10 points in my opinion.

I was there too & at Derby a couple of weeks later to see another win.
Also went to Leeds where we murdered them but only drew due to a referee's incompetance.
Great days indeed.

Just looked at the video again.
How the hell was Mick Leach not greatly appreciated as being a real player?
One of our unsung greats but I was surprised at the pace he found for the last goal. I can't remember him being that quick.

I can't remember him being that quick. I know what you mean .He was never one of my faves. But I was only 8 and didnt know much back then. But Thomas and Stan stood out a mile even to an 8 year old ... Watching these old vids on You Tube and that you realise that the team was more than just a couple of known players...

What was horrible was Mick Leach for long time was THE target of the boo-boys. When his name was read out pre-match, boos... Despite being a hard tryer, scorer of vital goals, etc...And then finally even stupid QPR fans! could see what we had. No he wasn't Bowles or Thomas or Francis or Venables of Parkes...But he was crucial for years.

I remember watching the players doing the pre match warm up once .I was proper amazed because Tony Hazell was juggling the ball.I mean a proper open jaw tugging at my dads sleeve moment.I was thinking eh? how can he do that ,he's rubbish. My 8 year old brain wanted (expected) everyone to be as good as Stanley I spose. I remember John Hollins got some terrible stick sometimes.
