Tottenham want a £200,000 loan fee for England under-21 starlet Kyle Walker from Hull City before he moves this week.
Walker featured in Harry Redknapp’s pre-season games at right back and centre half but his chances have been limited since the ‘serious’ action started.
Now Spurs are prepared to allow Walker to go to the Tigers – where he is likely to play in the heart of their defence – but they want a rental fee payment that is stretching the Championship outfit.
Hull chief Nigel Pearson sees Walker as a replacement for Kamil Zayatte, who is joining Leicester City but only after taking more out of their budget by demanding a golden handshake.
Walker joined Spurs from Sheffield United, who would also like him back, but Hull are favourites to do the deal because they have a pressing vacancy.
The talented Walker was wanted by West Ham during the last window, but they failed to do a deal. Spurs think he will play for them eventually, but would be best employed tasting Championship action just now.
