TAYLOR RESPONDS TO BFP [Bucks Free Press]
Posted on: Sat 31 Jan 2009
Blues boss Peter Taylor believes local newspaper the Bucks Free Press have shown a 'lack of respect' to the club, but he's willing to carry on giving them information for the sake of Wanderers' fans.
Mr.Taylor admits that he was 'very unhappy' with the BFP when they published a transfer fee for Mike Williamson's recent move to Watford even though he had told them that the fee would remain undisclosed.
He told wwfc.com: "Deals like this happen all over the country and the fees are kept confidential to protect the interests of the football club, especially during the transfer window.I think it showed a lack of respect for our club when they decided to publish a figure anyway."
Mr.Taylor went on: "Since I came to Wycombe I've co-operated extremely well with the BFP and put lots of stories their way, some of them exclusives.
"However, this incident made me angry on behalf of the club and I told the newspaper that I would be withdrawing my co-operation until further notice.
'I was then surprised to see that they printed a story about this because I considered it to be a personal matter and not one that should have been made public."
However, the Blues boss says he's now happy to continue talking to the BFP. 'I know that many fans rely on the paper and the club's official website as their main sources of information so having made my point it's time to forget this incident. I hope that the paper feels the same way.'
With just a couple of days to go before the transfer window closes, keep it wwfc.com for all the latest news from Adams Park.
