August 20, 2005 - Coventry 3 QPR 0
A few days after the Sheffield United game and what allegedl occurred (Jury found not-guilty) QPR travelled to Coventy for Coventry's opening game of their new stadium...And QPR's first defeat of season...
A few days later afer that: Bill Power was ousted and Marc Devlin axed and Gianni took over (saying no need for a CEO, etc, etc)...And within six months Ian Holloway too was gone...

An injury hit Rangers side were picked apart by a dominant Coventry at the Ricoh Stadium.
This stadium opening fixture was full of fireworks and the second half sending off of Dan shiteeeetu did nothing to help Rangers' cause as the visitors already stood at 3-0 down before the break.
Claus Jorgensen's opener on eleven minutes was followed by a brace from Dele Adebola to give Rangers an almighty mountain to climb in the second half.
shiteeeetu's dismissal was never going to help the cause, but Rangers held firm to ensure that Coventry did not strike again.
Ian Holloway was forced to make changes to his undefeated side with Dominic Shimmin earning his first start for Rangers due to an injury to Georges Santos.
Santos joined Lee Cook, Martin Rowlands and Tommy Doherty on the injury list, leaving a hole in the midfield that had served Rangers so well during the opening games of the season.
Up front, Stefan Moore joined Paul Furlong in the attack with Kevin Gallen dropping into midfield.
Buoyed by the opening day euphoria, Coventry wasted no time in getting the Ricoh on its feet.
Gary McSheffrey got on the end of a free kick and threw himself at the ball, luckily for Simon Royce his effort drifted wide of the post.
McSheffrey tried his luck again moments later with a cheeky lob, but Royce was untroubled as the ball landed on the roof of the net.
Rangers had their first shot on target when Paul Furlong drove his 20 yard free kick through the Coventry wall to force the save from Stephen Bywater.
It was only fitting that it should be Coventry who scored the first goal at their new stadium, and that privilege went to Claus Jorgensen.
Getting on the end of a McSheffrey cross, Jorgensen drove home to lift the brand new roof off the Ricoh.
Rangers were at sixes and sevens at the back and Coventry soon increased their lead.
Matthew Rose found himself under pressure from Dele Adebola on the right wing.
It looked as though Rose had a good few yards on the pacey front man, but Adebola switched gears, ran onto the ball and tucked it in between Royce and the near post at a seemingly impossible angle.
Rangers had only their second effort on target 33 minutes in when Ainsworth hooked his shot on goal, but again Bywater was unmoved as he simply plucked the ball from the air.
Shimmin then had the misfortune to suffer a blunder that no youngster ever wants to face on his debut.
James Scowcroft crossed from the right and in his haste to clear the ball, Shimmin could only slice it goalwards, only to be saved by the post.
The ball then rebounded into the path of Adebola who ten had the simple task of slotting home from six yards out.
Rangers had given themselves an uphill task in the second half and any share of the points looked to be a bridge too far.
Their task was further compounded when Dan shiteeeetu was shown a straight red card for his challenge on Adebola just outside the box.
With an already weakened line up and now down to ten men, things were going from bad to worse for Rangers.
Coventry did not let up in their attack and McSheffrey blazed a fierce shot at goal which luckily for Rangers missed the target.
Holloway then felt it was time for some fresh blood and brought on Mauro Milanese for his Rangers debut and Marcus Bean and Ugo Ukah soon followed.
Stefan Moore tried in vain to get Rangers on the scoresheet, but his effort from the edge of the box became caught in the tangle of Sky Blues defenders.
Substitute Neil Wood then put a sublime ball into the box, bending in between the face of goal and the awaiting pack, but not one Coventry man could reach it in time before it skidded out of play.
Adebola was then denied his hat-trick thanks to an excellent stop from Royce. Clean through, Adebola thumped the ball at goal, but Royce was well place to parry.
Royce was on hand once again when Adebola was clean through, this time saving with his feet to deny the burly centre forward.
Stefan Moore had one last roll of the dice as the clock ticked down, but his effort rolled wide of the post. It looked as though there was to be no net busters today for Rangers.
So, a sterling effort in the second half from Rangers meant that the scoreline was at least kept respectable, but a lot of work will have to be done before Tuesday's trip to Northampton Town.

Coventry accomplished all their hard work in the first half as they cruised to victory over 10-man QPR in the first match to be played at the Ricoh Arena.
Claus Jorgensen assured his place in the Sky Blues' history books as he netted the first goal at the club's new stadium which forms part of a £113-million development on the northern outskirts of the city.
And after Jorgensen's 11th-minute diving header, Dele Adebola added a brace before half-time as he found the back of the net in the 24th and 44th minutes.
Then, with the second half less than 10 minutes old, Danny shiteeeetu was shown a straight red card by referee Tony Leake after he pulled back Adebola by the shirt.
The niggling tone for the game was set even before kick-off as Adebola and shiteeeetu went chest to chest in the warm-up while Micky Doyle was also spoken to by the official.
But once the game got under way it was the Sky Blues who were on the offensive as a Marcus Hall free-kick from the left was headed back across goal by Robert Page but Gary McSheffrey failed to get a telling touch despite a courageous head-first dive.
McSheffrey tried again in vain in the fourth minute when his curling effort from the left splashed down on the roof of the QPR net.
The Sky Blues claimed a stunning lead just moments later when Jorgensen flung himself at a McSheffrey cross from the left and netted with a diving header.
Then in the 24th minute Adebola added City's second after beating Matt Rose to the ball near the byline before cutting in off the right and firing low past keeper Simon Royce who was beaten inside the near post.
With just 60 seconds to the break Adebola netted again after a Jamie Scowcroft cross was sliced on to his post by Dominic Shimmin and lurking in the back-post vicinity was the Sky Blues striker who bulged the net with an elementary finish.
Both sides ran out unchanged for the start of the second half and normal service was quickly resumed as Paul Furlong clattered into Richard Duffy beyond the byline although Leake opted not to add the Rangers striker to his list of six players cautioned during the opening period.
Marcus Bignot had his name taken just moments later though after blatantly hauling back Adebola by the shirt before the inevitable straight red card arrived as shiteeeetu brought down Adebola, also by tugging his shirt, on the edge of the D.
Rangers boss Ian Holloway quickly re-arranged his side as substitute Mauro Milanese replaced Aaron Brown and then Jorgensen could only drive the subsequent free-kick into the wall.
The visitors launched a rare foray into enemy territory midway through the second half but Moore saw his shot inadvertently blocked by teammate Gareth Ainsworth after having raced clear of Matt Heath.
Then, with less than 10 minutes to the whistle, Adebola was denied a hat-trick only by the knees of Royce.

Ian Holloway revealed the boardroom uncertainty at QPR has left him feeling like a nanny in charge of panicking children.
After his side's 0-0 draw with 10-man Sheffield Wednesday, Holloway was left to reflect on a troubled week that has
seen the club announce Bill Power's and Mark Devlin's removal as chairman and chief executive respectively.
Director Gianni Paladini appears to have seized effective control of the club - but the confusion
increased when Power and Paladini were seen sitting side by side in the directors box.
Holloway also said Power and Paladini had walked into the dressing room "arm in arm" before the match began.
"I feel a bit like the nanny who is trying to calm down the kids," said Holloway,
who went on to compare Power and Paladini to quarrelling parents.
"It looks like mum and dad are splitting up and nobody likes that. I hope they get back together.
"They are the two people who should give me stability, but they are bickering away
like they want a divorce - and I'm not going to be their lawyer.
"But I like them both. They showed commitment to QPR when nobody else wanted to - and they both deserve this club."
Former Aston Villa manager John Gregory - a Rangers player in the early 1980s - was in the directors' box
and Holloway's position may come under pressure.
The club also announced that Paladini's fellow Italian Gualtiero Trucco - part of the Monaco-based groups of investors
who put money into QPR last summer - has been installed as interim chairman.
"Whoever picks up this baton has to be able to carry it forward," Holloway continued.
"If not, they shouldn't pick it up. If they can't take it forward, I'll question my position.
"If they question my position, because change sometimes involves that,
what can I do about it? It's not in my control."
And Match Reports with Ugo Ukah and Steffan Moore playing and Danny shiteeeetu sent off
QPR Royce, Bignot (Ukah 66), shiteeeetu, Shimmin, Rose, Ainsworth, Gallen, Bircham (Bean 66), Brown (Milanese 55), Moore, Furlong.

Sporting Life Coventry 3 QPR 0
