If it works, presumably/hopefully "one for the future"Slough Express Slough Town chairman Steve Easterbrook has released a statement regarding Mo Sharif's trial period with Queens Park Rangers. The 17-year-old is currently being looked at by the Championship club and could be set for a move to the Loftus Road outfit.Easterbrook told the club's official website: "Steve Bateman and the club are and have been in discussions with Mo and his family and the club wishes Mo every success with his trial. Slough Town FC sees the development of players and youth football within Slough as a key function of the club and are delighted that Mo has been selected. "It is important to understand that at present Mo is on trial and he and his family have remained loyal to Slough Town FC, despite plenty of approaches in the past. "This is a marvellous opportunity for Mo and rather than speculate on what might happen, I think it is important that Mo and his family know that they can call upon and have the full support of the club." I don't think he would be a good buy. Would he be able to handle the pace of this level seeing he is a Slough player.

He is 17, so what if he plays for slough - how many 17 year olds are currently playing at this level - very little.
This is what I am liking about NW, this chap, the other youngster last week, he seems to be setting us up for the future. Keep it up colin.

The guy in charge of Slough sounds like a great guy. If he does make it at QPR, hope we "recompense" Slough in some way - whether required or not. Slough & Langley ObserverBates backs Sharif by Patrick CorlettSTEVE Bateman is backing talented Slough Town youngster Mo Sharif to make his mark at Championship outfit Queens Park Rangers, where he is currently on trail. The Rebels supremo insists that the 17-year-old, who was phenomenal for the youth team before establishing himself as a first team player last season, has the ability to go pro. “I think he can make it, I’ve made no secret that I think he will be a huge talent,” stated Bateman who is desperate for Sharif to succeed and fulfil any young footballer’s dream of playing professionally although Slough will not gain financially from it. “I’ve had some dialogue with various people about him and QPR have taken him on trial. “ The club won’t benefit from it financially, he’s not under contract. Some people have asked me ‘why not?’ but the rules won’t allow a 16 or 17-year-old in full time education to be under contract.
“It’s not about making a profit on the back of an individual.”The Slough boss gave Sharif his debut and is delighted that it shows what the club’s youth system can produce. “If he went to QPR I know that myself and the club would take a great deal of heart from it,” said Bateman.“He’s been at the club in the youth section for three years and he’s been well trained, I gave him his first opportunity at first team level and Mo did himself a lot of good last year.“I don’t think age is a barrier, if you are good enough you should be given a chance. “If he ends up coming back to us, brilliant. “If not I would be more pleased if he ends up getting a contract at a professional club. “Everyone as a youngster who plays football holds dreams of doing that. “The club are delighted with the recognition and that they are able to produce top youth talent.” www.sloughobserver.co.uk/sport/sloughtown/articles/2010/08/05/47781-bates-backs-sharif/

www.sloughtownfc.net/profiles/10/364/mo-sharifMo Sharif: Talented player who is capable of playing in midfield or up front. Very much a player for the future that has come through the club's under 18 side. Impressed for the first team in the summer of 2009 in friendlines against Penn & Tylers, where he scored and Hillingdon Borough.

This way QPR can take some time, and alert other clubs to steal in... Bateman delighted for Sharif
Maidenhead Advertiser - Fri 6th Aug 10:: written by Charles WattsSlough Town boss Steve Bateman says rising star Mo Sharif will go to QPR with the club’s blessing should he secure himself a deal following a trial.Sharif is not on contract with the Rebels so the club will not receive a transfer fee should he join the Championship outfit, even though he developed through the youth system at Slough. But despite the loss of a possible cash windfall, Bateman insists everyone at the club is wishing him well. He said: “If he goes, he goes with our best wishes.“We couldn’t get him on contract last year, when you’re only 16 and in full-time education you can’t be on contract unless you’re at a recognised academy. “We weren’t shy of asking the question as early as the beginning of last season.” Bateman added: “Mo is a talent and I’m pleased that we have been able to give him the opportunity to show it. “It shows that when we see talent that we’re prepared to give it a platform. “I’m told he’s impressed at QPR and that they are going to look at him in another game before making a decision.
“If he does go I’d like to think that QPR might recognise the work we’ve done with him and send a side down for some sort of game but that’s for the future.“The most important thing at the moment is Mo works hard and makes the most of this opportunity.” For the rest of this story see this week's Slough Express. www.maidenhead-advertiser.co.uk/sport/article-17249-bateman-delighted-for-sharif/

Our club might send a youth team down there. Why not give them 50k for the lad if he's that good. Helps them and would benefit us in the long term. But no doubt we'll do it the cheap way out.

Been watching pre-season youth games and this lad has exceptional ability. I understand he was spotted by a talent scout. Slough moaning about this, but they could have had him on a YTS, then they would have some compensation if he signs for QPR, but they were clearly too cheap to 'invest' in that option.

Signs! Maidenhead ADvertizer Slough Town starlet Mo Sharif has signed a one-year contract with Championship side Queens Park Rangers following a successful trial. The youngster, who came through the youth ranks with the Rebels, was not on contract so the club will not receive a fee.
But boss Steve Bateman has revealed that Rangers have agreed to send a strong side to Holloways Park in the near future for a potentially money spinning friendly.Bateman said: “I’m del-ighted for Mo, it’s really positive for him and it sends a message to the young players we have in our system that playing in our club can lead to bigger and better things. “Mo is as good as any 16/17-year-old player I’ve had in my 10 years of management and it gives us a great feeling knowing that we’ve given him his development. “I’ve been told that they’ve (QPR) agreed to send a strong side down to play us on a date to be agreed.” The news of Sharif move comes as Slough prepare for the start of a season which they hope will end in promotion. They begin their Division 1 Central campaign with a home game against Barton Rovers tomorrow (Saturday) before visiting Bedfont Town on Tuesday night. Bateman, whose side missed out on promotion in the play-off final last season, is determined to go one better this time around. He said: “Everyone is really positive, there’s a really good mood around the club. “We’ve had a good year last year and we’re looking to improve on that. “We talk quite openly about things and we’re looking to go one better than last year. “We want to finish in an automatic spot or, if it’s the play-offs again, we want to win them this time.” For the rest of this story see this week's Slough Express. www.maidenhead-advertiser.co.uk/sport/article-17378-sharif-signs-for-qpr/
