Winkelman's man could be right under his nose
Karl Robinson's dream of becoming MK Dons' manager is starting to look more and more like reality.
The 29-year-old has been in talks with chairman Pete Winkelman and former Wycombe manager John Gorman this week and has been quoted as saying he's extremely confident of taking charge of first-team matters in the long term.
It's thought that Robinson could be Paul Ince's permanent replacement and Gorman - who was most recently number two to Jim Magilton at QPR - will come in as his experienced assistant.
On the record Robinson suggested he's already making plans for the new season.
He said: "I'm working to bring players in. You could bring Jose Mourinho in for these last four games and it would make no difference. We've (and Alex Rae) done a great job trying to keep our few players motivated in the last two weeks.
"The players know where I want to go and I know where this football club wants to go. I'm a very strong person."
And the former Blackburn coach has promised fans that Dons will come back stronger with him at the helm.
"We'll all come back from this a much stronger football club," he said. We have had the opportunity to sit and reflect and I'll tell you now we'll come back 10 times stronger because of this latest hard set of circumstances.
"I'm qualified, ambitious and it's down to the chairman. He's got probably one of his toughest decisions to make. If we get the job it'll be because we deserve it."
