Playing as an inside-forward or as a wing-half he served the club for his entire career which lasted until the end of the 1963-64 season. In all he appeared in 550 matches (494 in the League) and scored about 50 goals including the Hatters' only one in the 1959 Cup Final when they lost 3-1 to Nottingham Forest. 20 February 1960Referee Jack Husband collapsed and died during half time while officiating in the F.A. Cup Fifth Round tie between Leicester City and West Bromwich Albion at Filbert Street. 20 February 1960Blackburn Rovers beat Tottenham Hotspur 3-1 in their F.A. Cup Fifth Round match at White Hart Lane. It was to be the last Cup tie Spurs would lose for three years. The next time they lost (also at White Hart Lane and also 3-1) was against Burnley in 1963. The week after Rovers beat Spurs in the Cup the London club reversed the result in the League at Ewood Park.

And at the game... And even a Facebook page! www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=478337545264&v=wall&viewas=0#!/group.php?gid=478337545264&v=info Following the sucsess of the Hayes Vs Wimbledon streak in the Summer of 2008, I have decided to pull another stunt but increasing the stakes a tad. Rather than your 2,000 odd record attendance at Hayes that sunny afternoon, an expected 14,000 will cram into loftus road in pursuit of their mid- table voyage. Let's be honest, it's been a poor season down their, changing the managers every 15 minutes, the chairmans supposeded fortune not getting a look in, and three quaters of the season gone and we're 12th! So F*** it, I'm going on that pitch wearing only a smile and will take the short journey to the nick over my birthday weekend. I want as many people to join this group as possible for added inspiration. This may be my last time to flurish as I'm having a baby in August and will need to be a sensible dad after all this. Thankyou all. (read less)

[b6Years ago: Ipswich Manager Jim Magilton Talking About QPR Manager Paulo Sousa[/b]
February 20, 2009
IPSWICH OFFICIAL SITE - TOWN OUT TO END TV REPEAT
-Jim Magilton is looking for Town to put on a performance in front of the TV cameras when Blues take on QPR. - The 5.20pm kick-off at Loftus Road is covered live on Sky TV with Blues' record on the small screen not the best this season with away defeats at Watford, Norwich and Doncaster and a draw against Crystal Palace at Portman Road. Town are above QPR on goal difference and will be looking to extend the run of only one defeat in eight League games and close the gap on the Play-Off places from four points. - "We have not done well on TV this season so it would be nice to put that right and we go to QPR buoyed by the win against Forest on Wednesday," Jim told the Club website. "I've always liked going to Loftus Road. It's a tight ground with the fans close to the pitch and that makes for a great atmosphere. There is always a bit of banter between the players and the supporters as well. "They are in the same position as us, on the fringes of the Play-Offs and players being players, they will be aware of the results earlier in the afternoon and how that can affect things in the table but the focus from us will be on going there and getting the three points. "I like the way QPR play. They have a lot of width and operate with a 433 or 451 system. It's a more European style and I'd probably be 'hung' if I did that at home! "They have a good manager in Paulo Sousa. I had the pleasure of playing against him several times and he was an outstanding player. I'm sure if he takes that wonderful talent into management he will be a success." Sousa replaced Iain Dowie in the Rangers' hot seat and Jim admits he was disappointed to see his close friend and former Northern Ireland international team-mate leave Loftus Road. "I was sorry to see Iain go. He's an outstanding manager and an outstanding man and I'm not sure he was treated particularly fairly," adds Jim. "He didn't get any time in the job but that's football nowadays. Everyone wants instant success and there is a pretty low tolerance level, driven on by the media attention but it's part of the game and we have to deal with it whether we like it or not."Town will give a late fitness test to Gareth McAuley who picked up a calf injury in the win over Forest. Kevin Lisbie is back in the squad after missing the Forest game with a back injury but Danny Haynes misses out with a hamstring problem. Heidar Helguson, Sam Di Carmine and 'keeper Radek Cerny have recovered from injury for Rangers, who are unbeaten in nine League games, while Lee Cook has completed a ban. They will also have Jordi Lopez available after he joined the club in a short team deal this week but Akos Buzsaky, Patrick Agyemang and Martin Rowlands will all miss out. Kick-off at Loftus Road is 5.20pm with live commentary on Ipswich World. Ipswich

Tuesday, February 20, 2007 QPR Goalkeeping Coach, Tony Roberts Reportedly Suspended-
Daily Mail - Charles Sale - Keeper coach out in QPR soap opera
There has been yet more turmoil at Queens Park Rangers, the Championship club careering out of control, with goalkeeping coach Tony Roberts being suspended by manager John Gregory, who gave no reason for his decision.
Roberts, who has been at Loftus Road for more than 20 years as player and coach, was told to leave the club without warning by Gregory, whose own position has been a matter of speculation, after a training session last Sunday.
It is believed that Gregorys action is in some way related to the departure a week earlier of QPR press manager Jackie Bass, who has been the live-in girlfriend of Roberts since last April. Bass, barred by Gregory from the dressing room areas of the training ground and the stadium earlier this season, is known to be consulting lawyers over the way the club released her. There has been talk of an unfair dismissal claim, possibly including allegations of sexual discrimination.
Bass also felt her job had been made untenable on the administrative side. It might have been felt by the under-pressure Gregory that any claim of this nature would make it difficult for Roberts to remain within his inner circle at QPR. The soap opera that is QPR has included an alleged hold-up at the club of chairman Gianni Paladini by seven men who were cleared of various charges, the mass brawl against a China team and the yearly accounts lodged at Companies House differing by millions of pounds from the figures approved by shareholders. 13 years ago: The ultimate example of a "Purple Patch"
Wednesday, February 20, 2008 Agyemang on His Scoring Streak - Best Since Rodney Marsh More Than 40 Years Ago - Ben Kosky/Kilburn Times Pat's purple patch is best since '67
SUCCESS was just around the corner last time QPR had a player finding the net as frequently as Patrick Agyemang.
The Rangers hotshot has scored in each of his first six starts since moving to Loftus Road from Preston at the beginning of January.
Agyemang's incredible run of goalscoring form has not been matched since the 1966-67 season, when the legendary Rodney Marsh scored in six consecutive games. Rangers, of course, went on to win the Division Three title and League Cup that season, heralding a period that saw the club elevated to the top flight and within a whisker of becoming League champions.
And Agyemang, who has spent virtually all his career at Championship level with Wimbledon, Gillingham and Preston, believes he has finally found his niche at the age of 27. He told the Times: "I don't really look at stats and it doesn't bother me about records - my aim's just been to play well and get as many goals as possible. "At the moment this is definitely the best spell of my career in terms of goals. When I was at Preston I scored about five in seven, I think, but nothing like I've done at QPR. "Sometimes in the past I felt unappreciated because I was being played in different roles. I always felt I'd not really had the chance to show my ability, concentrating on what I can do.
"At QPR they've utilised my pace - they're looking for me to get in behind the defence more often and I'm where I want to be on the pitch. Basically this is the way I always wanted to play." After making his QPR debut as a substitute in their FA Cup third round defeat at Chelsea, Agyemang started against Sheffield United and scored the opener in a 2-1 reverse. Since then he has been looking unstoppable, with single strikes against Barnsley, Cardiff City and Burnley, as well as doubles in Rangers' victories over Bristol City and Southampton.
But the London-born Ghanaian international insists that credit for those successes must be shared with his QPR team-mates, particularly forward partner Rowan Vine. "Rowan's great at running at players - with or without the ball. We're linking up really well in training and he's made quite a few of my goals," said Agyemang. "Although I'm the one that's scored the majority of the goals, it's down to the way the team has been playing and working hard - that's why I'm getting a lot of chances." If he scores in the return games against Sheffield United and Barnsley this week, Agyemang will equal the club record held by Brian Bedford, who netted in eight games in a row 46 years ago.
Bedford scored 12 goals during that period, including a hat-trick against Coventry but, despite his haul of 39 for the season, Rangers missed out on promotion to Division Two by just three points. Marsh's scoring sequence during the 1966-67 season was identical to that of Agyemang - eight in six games - and, like Bedford, included a hat-trick, away to Mansfield. Kilburn Times

QPR Official Site - IAIN [Dowie] - I'D LOVE TO BE BOSSIN THE build-up to the Gillingham game, assistant boss Iain Dowie has been putting forward his case in the interviews for the manager's job at Rangers. Iain said: "I've had my interview and I put my point to the board. I think continuity here is very important. "We've got 18 players out of contract and it is important that the new manager does know the players. "I also feel I've got something fresh to give. I think I am an innovative coach and I can get a response from the lads. "I also feel I can step into the mantle of a manager. I've got some bright ideas and things I want to implement. Hopefully I'll get the opportunity. "I consider this to be a very good club and one that I've really enjoyed my time at. Hopefully my hard work will have earned me the opportunity to be the next manager. If I don't get the job, it won't be through lack of hard work when I've been coaching. "It's nice that a large percentage of the fans feel that I should get the opportunity. I understand that people have been putting my name forward on the internet, which is lovely. It's nice to know that I have that support and I'd like to get Rangers back to a position where we can challenge for honours."
