Decent 1st half. Eze & Bright tormenting them. A few moments of nervousness when we try to play ot out from the back but generally quite strong in defence not counting when the cheating scumbage went through & fortunately ballooned his shot. Sky Sports Leeds are, obviously, absolutely fuming. Joke innit. W*****g themselves furiously over Leeds just before kick off!

The entire coverage is about how crucial this is for Leeds, we're just a side show for them. They've got JFH on talking absolute nonsense, too. With Leeds' soft penalty appeal, they asked why Leeds players didn't appeal to the ref, JFH says it's because managers tell their players not to cos they'll get yellow cards, and you cannot argue with the refs anymore. It happens every single week. Has he watched a game of Championship football before? Has he never met Ben Pearson?

Absolutely disgusting challenge from Phillips on Cameron. Two feet off the ground, snapped into him, straight red. Cameron yellow carded for having the audacity to be annoyed by it.

That was a very hard earned win and clean sheet. Made all the sweeter with cheating scumbag* ballooning a shot when clean through and missing a penalty!
I thought we were defensively solid and Masterson had a very good full debut, his yellow card was extremely harsh IMO. No complaints about Kelly in goal either.
*I work with a Leeds fan & a Villa fan, the Villa fan has the same opinion of him as me and neither of us will say his name so we both refer to him as above. We're all at a conference in Birmingham on Monday, should be fun!

As an additional point, Masterson has played the last game and a half and we've conceded no goals!

Why is it that we seem quite often to get results against the teams above us and don't against those below.
They should have won by 5 or 6 but we won. Love it. The Championship is a great league - any team can win on any given day.
Only 4 points off the play-off places. You just never know!

Not our best footballing display of the season, but possibly our best performance!
I thought that was our best defensive showing from us with Hall outstanding (apart from the odd stray pass!) & Masterson not far behind him. Kelly will take the plaundits & he did very well, but overall he didn't have that much to do. I think we celebrated his penalty save more than we did the goal!
Just like last season, the referee manufactured a penalty for them, but justice was done today! Handball for our goal? Everybody tells me so, but I'm in denial! I couldn't see it from the Upper Loft so that will do for me.
Arrived home to find the icing on the cake in Chesham winning their near 300 mile trip to Truro to replace them at the top of the Southern League!
What a great day for football!
Forgot to say, Scowen & Pugh were very professional in the last few minutes. That is how you eat up time!

Really entertaining game today. Fortune smiled on us at times today, but we have lost so many similar games this season that it was great to hold out for a change. I am late home, so most has been covered so ....in addition: So good to see Masterson's celebrations at full time - he was really living the dream, going to every corner of the ground to celebrate with the crowd. Another fine performance from the youngster who may just now be retained rather than going out on loan. Scowen did really well when he came on - he has been unlucky to lose his place. Amos continues to develop well a positive work in progress. Cameron was wayward at times, but I think he would have flattened Phillips if he had been allowed to reach him after THAT foul. The same player who finished his season last year up at Elland Road. Leeds players and fans appeal for everything and complain to the ref when he ignored them throwing themselves on the floor. In R Block we could not see the hand ball for the goal bur news filtered through pretty quick from Sky and the BBC. But the players really put in a shift today and there was such a good team spirit and a real positive after glow for the fans who mainly stayed behind to celebrate.

We played well at times despite the leeds players wanting to spend more time complaining and rolling around than playing football, you can tell this the guidance from the manager. We are still far to sloppy and Cameron was at fault quite a few times for misplaced passes and trying to play out from the back when what was needed was a size 10 straight through the ball.
I really like Masterson, he looked calm and won a lot of headers and I wouldn't mind a back 3 or Masterson, Barbet & Leinster with wing backs of Manning and Angel. Hall could play a slightly advanced position to give them cover.
BOS is, for me, our best player and caused them a lot of issues, so much so that they had to bring on a player with pace just to try and take him out of the game.
Eze, showed some beautiful skill in th opening 15 mins but then he just drifted out of the game, if rumours are true the Spurs have bid £15 million plus Amos in exchange, I say take it and use the money wisely.
I don't care how the wins come and so happy to walk out of the ground with 3 points, if Leeds had a decent striker it may have been different but they don't, we won, thats it! COME ON YOU SUPER......

Our attack is exciting to watch, Our defence always threatens with the strength of a wet bus ticket. Masterson was the only one out of the four of them that had any nouce. Thank God, Kelly kept us in it. Cameron got the yellow for carrying on and bitching about the player with the red card being the same player whom broke a bone in Cameron's foot last season. Obviously some history there. Still I stayed up and watched a game that reminded me of Scottish football - played at 100 miles an hour. In bed, watching on my 10 inch tablet via SkyGo. Excellent picture and no stuttering. Chair, Osai, Eze what a wonderful 3 players we have, very entertaining to watch them. Their trickery might not always work but it entertains. Eze has a very laid back and happy type attitude.

Food for thought; I am tempting fate here but the way things are shaping up we could end the season with both Wells and Hugill reaching the 20 goal a season mark, Eze if he stays may not be far behind already being in double figures, and more goals coming from players all around the pitch. Plus the number of chances made and shots we have failed to convert give attacking stats that mean we should normally be talking about a team pushing for promotion or at least well in the play offs. However at the moment we are stuck hovering around the 14/15th place and we all know why; 1. A leaky defence having gifted too many goals. 2 An extended bad run that saw us drop from the fringe of the play-offs to 18th. Now it seems that we have at least started to turn the corner on our bad run and the next half a dozen games will tell. 6 good results and we will be back near the play-offs, 6 bad games and we may not be looking over our shoulder too much but just hoping to get past the magic 50. Luton are gone imo and I think a couple of others are on an unstoppable slide Also we seem to be cutting out some of the stupid defensive errors and have at last managed 3 clean sheet in recent times. What has changed exactly I do not know but I would not put all the blame on our CB's. Too many goals have come from lack of cover wide and, being prepared with my crash helmet, I do not think Manning should be a full back. Obviously giving the likes of BOS Chair Eze the freedom to express themselves is right but may also put extra pressure on the defensive midfield and full backs but I would not change that at all. I am also rapidly coming round to the idea that we should keep Masterson in the team and let him get his experience with us rather than loaning him to a rival or lower league. Then let him really hit the first team next season already used to our style of play and the Championship hard men. Especially if we are settling for a mid table finish (with which I am happy) there is no harm in giving him some exposure now and we have plenty of cover to come back after injury if he starts to struggle or needs a rest. What ever happens I do not think anyone can say our games this season have been boring - sometimes for the wrong reason - and we have seen more goals scored than in many a season past. One last thought - why do we seem to do better against the stronger teams while losing to teams like Barnsley and Reading?. As I started just food for thought. I think in our division this season, a large slice of what happens is down to luck / bad luck as the margins are so slight. Unlike the Prem - especially with VAR! Yesterday we played well, kept our heads up and definitely rode our luck. We have also had some appalling luck and decisions go against us - so I guess in the main it levels out. I do not think that Wallace is the answer at left back, but i agree that he is a far better option than Manning at LB. With Hall, Masterson, Leinster and Barbet, I agree that the problem is not at the centre of the defence. Perhaps Barbet will slide back into the team at LB. Cannot disagree that we have a 'leaky defence' - but I think that IMHO the reasons are: 1) Our exciting forward play leaves us exposed at the back, especially down the wings. 2) In trying to play out from the back, we often put the keeper (usually Lumley) under undue pressure and teams press us and take advantage of the inevitable lapses. 3) Kane and Manning are very good going forward but both get caught out of position and they are not really defenders - more wide midfielders 4) We have already had our share of individual errors for this season 5) We lack a real leader in the centre of the park 6) The holding midfield position is key to how we set up and how we defend. Cameron is inconsistent, Amos is developing, Scowen is out of favour, Smith is on the way out. Milllwall have just picked up Ryan Wood from Stoke - think he would have been a very good signing for QPR. But things change very quickly in The Championships, good runs, bad runs, red hot scoring, baron runs, injuries etc. We could outplay Blackburn Tuesday week and still get a hiding, so who knows. As for the performances against the better teams, I think that we are the sort of team that excite and grow in confidence. The longer we held out yesterday in the first half, the more confident we became. We were the better team in the first half, but were far more cautious in the second, so perhaps it all about positivity and not letting the heads drop. One other thing, the foul on Cameron looked dreadful live - even worse on TV replays, but why on earth did Cameron get booked? It was a career ending tackle at his age, I think he had the right to be angry and upset. Ayling also got booked at the same time, he did not argue but no idea why. Ever onwards! Food for thought as you say - welcome back!

MARK WARBURTON DELIVERS KEY QPR TRANSFER UPDATE AFTER WEEKEND VICTORYPublished 2 mins ago on 19/01/2020By Dean Cooke
Mark Warburton has stated that it is unlikely that defender Conor Masterson will go out loan after his impressive performance against Leeds on Saturday. The youngster was pivotal throughout and put in a display that clearly impressed the R’s boss as they managed to earn a 1-0 victory against Marcelo Bielsa’s side. He only got his opportunity in the side after Yoann Barbet and Toni Leistner both picked up injuries that would see them be ruled out of the fixture. It’s a sign of improvement for a QPR side that has continuously leaked goals throughout the campaign and they are now showing that they can defend against some of the best attacking players in the Championship. Warburton has expressed that the 21-year-old is now in his plans and is unlikely to leave on loan after impressing throughout his full league debut. Speaking to West London Sport on the possibility of loaning Masterson out, Warburton said: “Probably not, after that. “Things happen for a reason. We’ve had Yoann (Barbet) out, Angel Rangel out and Toni (Leistner) out, so we were very thin. “You saw Conor’s response. He was excellent. The most pleasing thing for me was that he thoroughly enjoyed it. He loved it.”

I agree with a lot of that Ricky & would say that we've been punished for our mistakes by an unusual high percentage. Yesterday, Leeds didn't convert when we gave them the ball, whereas Brentford & Fulham (just named as examples) did. We're not that far off the play off positions at present with a six point gap, although there are many a team between us & Forest!
I would imagine that Cameron was cautioned yesterday for threatening behaviour as it appeasrs that he was telling Phillips what he would do to him & apparently tried to get into the Leeds cahanging room to carry this out! I have no problem with this as he will know how dangerous the "challenge" was last season & yesterday.
The next two league games should be a good indication of what position we will finish in this season. Six points from Blackburn & at home to Bristol City would mean keeping May free for a while longer, but no points would sugest that 18th was more likely.

I could understand the reasons for loaning him out, but his perrformances have elevated him to a full part of the first team squad. It was possibly a pleasant shock to MW that he was as far forward in his career as he has shown.
