With the Cardiff game up next, there has been considerable noise about trying to get Smithies back on loan as he is firmly number 2 at Cardiff. However, it looks more likely that Etheridge will be on the move - with West Ham said to be interested. www.walesonline.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/west-ham-line-up-move-17485064However, Dieng's loan at Doncaster ends in January. If Lumley is dropped, he will surely be loaned out to regain confidence. Then there is Kelly............

Not sure what we'll do but I'm assuming that we won't end up keeping all three if Barnes has been brought up to the bench (albeit cos of Kelly's injury, but he's still 'graduated'). Kelly, Dieng and Lumley all have league experience now and all would attract some kind of fee - so balance sheet-wise, I'd assume at least one goes and Barnes becomes de facto 3rd choice. Two if we wanted to buy someone else come January, but it's not a great time to buy.
Kelly is an investment regardless cos we took him on that ridiculously cheap release clause, wasn't it something like 50k?

Of course, his wages were probably higher because of that and he has not played very much football for QPR. So not cheap in that respect. We pay for 4 keepers (although we presumably recoup some on Deing).and we had thought that competition was going to be fierce. But I think most of the support are looking for a 5th keeper on the payroll this window. That is disappointing, but if we do take on another, someone has to leave - if not 2

Smithies will be out of our price bracket in both wages and potential transfer fee.
One things for sure players don’t tend to perform any better if the supporters boo and deride them.
Let’s get behind whichever keeper the manager puts in goal for the Cardiff game and the remainder of the season.
