Last we didn't lose, I guess.
I genuinely cannot see us keeping a CS this season.

Four poor games just 2 points, was hoping we would do better than that with a Boro and a Reading at home? Concede for fun

Pinch of salt cos I'm very cold and in a mood, but very frustrated with that. Thought we were poor.
We managed to take an unconvincing but straightforward home win against a pretty average team, and turned it into a draw. Both Boro goals completely down to our own incompetence.
First goal, Wallace and Manning getting mixed up (more Wallace's fault for me), leaving an acre of space and a free cross, leading to an easy header for Assombalonga. He looks overweight and slow, he lives offside and yet, still got to the low ball first.
Second goal - we had the lead, should be seeing the game out and (I believe Wells?) inexplicably attempts a long ball back pass. It fails to reach Lumley, creating a Boro one-on-one and easy goal. Absolutely mindblowing. We showed a real lack of care for the ball in dangerous areas and pissed the points up the wall.
All the usual caveats - we didnt lose, still doing loads better than last season, still surpassing expectations. But that's what makes games like this so frustrating. You take the stupid, basic footballing errors out of the defence and that is a workmanlike home win against a poor Boro side. Instead, it's a point, two massive mistakes and two weeks off.
You'll be surprised to hear that I thought the ref was crap, too.

Boro's early disallowed goal set the tone for some awful defending once again. Warbs "it's the way we play" is getting very irksome, we looked dead ropey today.

in many ways that was the most disappointing game so far this season -saved only by the fact we did not lose. Boro had the ball in the net after 2 minutes and I shouted off-side for what seemed like an age before the flag went up. Boro complaints were well OTT. But although Boro were poor, they deserved the lead, because we were poorer. Maybe we could not adjust to the conditions, but we were wayward. As usual, directly in front of where we sit.............Howson pushed the ball passed Manning and we expected Wallace to move forward to close him down - instead he retreated. Simple cross as per usual, and a knee high header - one down. Wallace clearly blamed Manning and the 2 had a heated exchange. Watching live, I blamed Wallace. Manning and Chair combined for Wells equaliser that looked off-side at the time, but a long way from us. The own goal was unfortunate as Randolph's clearance hit Howson for an own goal. So some luck! Nahki's error for the equaliser was schoolboy stuff. But our defence is poor. Cameron is too slow to play centre half. Not impressed with Wallace based on one showing only. Ball had his poorest game for us by some way. Stupidly booked and then fouled soon after! Lumley did not inspire, replacing the injured Kelly. But Warburton one of our finest managers for some time, got the set up wrong, the selection wrong and the substitutions wrong. And the team let him down anyway. So yeah, disappointing. Middlesborough needed a win and could have got one but settled for time wasting instead. Randolph wasted time even after being booked -we need to see a keeper sent off for things to change. Randolph and Fletcher were supposed to be no where near fit and yet both played.

just one question why is Cameron playing in defence I would have thought with all the injuries we have to defenders I would have thought Conor Masterson might have got a look in in fact where is he hasn't played a single minute in the Championship for us anyway just asking 😀

Barbet and Leinster injured and Masterson not even on the bench.

I watched the highlights on Quest. The camera angles are so poor for just highlights. The Boro disallowed goal was not clear at all - on the day it looked clearly offside. Wallace looked a long way back when Manning stopped running, but another totally unchallenged cross from their right wing. Wells goal was said to be played onside by Friend - but not possible to see. The Howson own goal was pretty fortunate as they both went for the same ball. The Wells back pass does not get any better with age - he had so many options but chose a crazy way out. In short, none the wiser than at the ground!

That was the worst I've seen us play this season, but at 2-1 I didn't think it was possible for 'boro to score a second goal. And they wouldn't have without the perfect through ball played by Wells!
It's funny how we can form a different view from different parts of the ground! I believe bow & Ricky are in Ellerslie Road whereas we are in the Upper Loft & from our position I would apportion the blame for the first goal as 70% Manning & 30% Wallace. What is beyond doubt is that Manning shouldn't have stopped when he thought Wallace would get the ball! A question must also be asked as to where Cameron was when the cross was played.
I know many are fond of Cameron, but I'm pleased that he is suspended & can't play at Fulham! I do freely admit that I thought he was a very limited player while at Stoke, but apart from the victory at Stoke I'm still of the view that he is very limited!
I had not expected Masterson to start the game but that didn't stop my disappointment at him not playing. On the other hand, although Lumley didn't have much to do I thought he looked more confident than on his last appearance. Whether he will retain his place when Kelly is clear of injury/illness we will have to wait to see.
I am flummoxed though! I look at our defenders individually & think they look OK in the main, but irrespective of who is on the pitch, they are very culpable! Why? Why? Why? Answers to Mark Warburton please! I'm sure it's not due to lack of defending drills in training etc.
I'm still far happier watching this side though than the dross we have endured since the six(?) match home winning run at the end of the 2011/12 season!

Don't disagree with any of that Terry. Manning just stopped running and Wallace backed off to mark no-one at all leaving Howson a free cross. They both blamed each other. I can not answer your question about defenders, but what is clear is that Rangel, Wallace, Cameron and Leinster do not have any real pace. Hall is quicker but by no means swift. We usually have at least two of them on the pitch though. We also play a high line - especially at set pieces - so we run a risk. Also, playing with fast wing backs in Kane and Manning, we are reliant on them sprinting back. When Manning gave up the chase on Saturday, we conceded a goal from the usual spot / cross - just where we sit in R Block Ellerslie Rd. I have no idea if Masterson is blessed with pace or not, but as a youngster, I had hoped that he would be. But it appears that the coaches do not think he is ready, and that is disappointing, especially as it has been reported that Wallace had not played before as a centre back in his long career. But Cameron's absence is not a concern for me either. It will be interesting to see if Warburton does something in the window regarding the defence. It would seem that last window he wanted McKenna from Aberdeen to play centre left, either competing with Barbet or with Barbet playing left back. It may be that if Manning does not sign a December extension that he will be sold and the funds used to bring in someone.

It's funny how we can form a different view from different parts of the ground! How true. A friend commented to me post match that Amos was our best player on Saturday. Not a view in any way shared by Clive (Loft for Words). He said that he thought that Amos was covering for Ball's numerous errors. Clive has made Ball his Man of the Match. I thought that Ball was poor but my frustration with him was more about how irresponsible he was. Booked for an obvious kicking the ball away and then continued with the cynical fouling that another ref may have seen as a second yellow. Given that the ref confused Cameron and Hall's misdemeanors, it was lucky that Cameron did not get a second yellow as well. I thought that Chair was Man of the Match, but he never seems to complete 90 minutes. When players like Chair, Nahki and BOS are subbed, we usually lose our 'out ball' and our pace. Usually, it is Pugh that comes on and again, Clive likes Pugh in his reviews whereas I am less convinced. I guess it all depends on what we witness and identify as individuals that formulate our view. So if they want a good review from me, best they play well in front of R Block. Meanwhile, I would always back Clive's judgement over my own!

From where I was sitting in the Ellerslie Road I thought we could have easily been three nil down after fifteen minutes - thought Wallace was to blame for the goal and was fortunate not to concede a penalty. We will miss Manning if he is sold in January.
There seemed quite a few changes on Saturday so maybe a draw was a good result in the end - although we had some good chances to secure 3 points - none better than Hugill's missed header from Kane's fine cross (Dave Thomas would have been proud).
All the defenders seem to make mistakes but at least Leistner is a leader - I would put him with Hall and Barbet when all are fit...but I am enjoying watching us going forward and thought Chair was unlucky to be taken off.

just one question why is Cameron playing in defence I would have thought with all the injuries we have to defenders I would have thought Conor Masterson might have got a look in in fact where is he hasn't played a single minute in the Championship for us anyway just asking 😀 Queens Park Rangers boss Mark Warburton on why defender Conor Masterson has not featured for the club. Share article from Kilburn Times on facebookTweet article from Kilburn Timespost article from Kilburn Times on redditemail article from Kilburn TimesShare Mark Warburton says he is frustrated by the suggestion that young defender Conor Masterson should be "thrown in" to the side. The 21-year-old joined the club on a two-year deal in the summer after leaving Liverpool but has not yet made his competitive debut for the R's. Injuries to central defenders Yoann Barbet and Toni Leistner saw Warburton instead opt to play Lee Wallace and Geoff Cameron alongside Grant Hall against Middlesbrough. And Warburton says the Republic of Ireland U21 international still has to develop more before he can feature in the first team. He said: "This is one of the things I get frustrated about, we've signed a young player to come in here and to build part of our squad for the future. "It doesn't mean you sign a player to go straight into the first team. "When I hear things like 'throw him in', come on. I'm being very polite in what I say there. "He's a young player, he's got lots of development (to do), he's a very talented lad but he needs to develop his game. "The Championship is ruthless. Look at Britt Assombalonga, he's a powerful, top-class centre-forward so what we have to do is manage all of the players. "Conor's a player I hope will have a really bright future at QPR, we've got to manage him correctly." www.kilburntimes.co.uk/sport/football/queens-park-rangers/qpr-manager-mark-warburton-gives-reason-conor-masterson-not-featured-1-6367307
